CAO Eileen's Dream

(2.91)
Inspired by CAO's flavorful Eileen's Dream Cigarillos, this blend begins with a base of quality Virginia and black cavendish leaf and then infuses the same with a frothed cream that's been laced with superior Irish whiskey and coconut milk, followed by a subtle mixture of hazelnut paste, ground almonds, cocoa and vanilla extracts.

First let me say that I smoke only aromatics, so none of those "for an aromatic" comments. That being said, this one just didn't float my boat. I ordered a CAO sampler and this was my least favorite. Pouch note was pleasant, but there was a sharp edge to smoking it, not a bite but I suspect it was the irish creme. I was let down as I consume a fair amont of irish cream in my coffee, but just couldn't see the similarities. On the plus side, my irish wife really liked the empty tin!

I bought a tin of this at my local tobacco shop. I loaded up my pipe, and fell in love. This blend isn't too sweet, but sweet enough. I'm new to the whole smoking thing, but I strongly suggest this blend to new smokers. It is a great slow smoke, very smooth inhale (When I do inhale). It bites only if you smoke it too quickly and one tin lasts a fair bit of time. Much better than Moon Trance.

I really like this blend, the smell in the tin led me to believe the actual tobacco would be overpowering while smoking it, but I was pleasantly surprised when it was smooth without any bite. The downside is that the tobacco is completely masked.

Another great Aromatic from CAO. Burns clean and dry as Moontrance does. Packs and lights well, and delivers a great amount of creamy smoke with little effort. I would recommend this much more than your bulk B&M Irish Cream tobaccos.

Small sips let the subtle flavorings come to the forefront. The Irish Cream is very noticable, the Chocolate is there, but more as an undertone.

Pairs well with a coffee and Bailey's.

You want sweet? You got it! This stuff has a casing unlike any tobacco I've ever tasted. Full, sweet, chocolaty, but minty too. I am reminded of Girl Scouts Thin Mints when I smoke this stuff. The room note is an absolute pleasure and the taste is heavenly. I opened the tin and my first impression was not good. The tin smelled almost sickly sweet and the tobacco was rather sticky and clumped. It will not smoke well right out of the tin, but give it a week or so with the hermetic seal on the lid broken, and the tobacco flavor will shine through the casing very nicely after that. Nice toasty Burley flavor with LOADS of everyone's favorite sweet treat, Black Cavendish. All I can say about room note and taste is that they are one and the same. Chocolate, mint, Irish Cream, and awesome. That's how it is. This is a delightful smoke that for as much sugar as it has, smokes surprisingly cool, and stays lit most of the time. Pack it loose though or you'll go through a box of kitchen matches like it's your job. This is a sweet, high quality aromatic that can be enjoyed by all. Good to smoke in non smoking company. You'll get maybe one or two complaints and then they'll smell it and forget what they were saying mid-sentence.

This tobacco surprised me in several ways, most of them good. When the tin pops open you get white chocolate right up front. The bailies comes out about half way through the bowl. Although you couldn't guess it from the outstanding room note, this is a pretty stout smoke. The flavors are there but definitely not at the loss of the solid smooth tobacco taste. It can burn a little hot, but I didn't get any bite. This would be a good wife pleaser for those of you who smoke English blends that like to occasionally dabble in aromatics. If you are a fan of very mild aro's I'd skip it, if you like a heavy hitter with a smell that gets you invited into the bedroom, instead of thrown out of the house altogether, this is a good one to try.

First thing i notice when i opened the tin , what a wonderful desert smell ! White chocolaty, creamy smell like a freshly bake vanilla/liquor cake.

It was very moist out but you can expect that from mostly any aromatic out there.(still it burn very nicely , few relight needed) But that a good thing , make you sip it slower to taste all the flavors this aromatic have to offer. When you light it , the first few drags make the room smell like a coffee shop /bakery . Every drag you can detect a different part of the topping but the one that come out the most in my opinion is the irish cream , very pleasant on the tongue . Its a very complex aromatic . Maybe this blend can aged well due to the Virginia/Cigar Leaf component . I smoke an aromatic like 1-2 time a month max , but this one i could easily smoke it once a week with a morning cup of coffee

Nondescript, faint chocolate tin aroma.

VERY ‘moist’...let dry overnight with minor effect.

Smoked with both 3 stage, and Frank packing...this tobacco likes a loose pack.

Bland taste. Honestly unremarkable. Zero flavours jump at the beginning/middle/end of bowl.

Easy enough to manage. Few relights, smoked better when ash was tipped out. Burns cool enough (if packed well). No goop per se in the bowl, but it’s heavily soaked in PG.

Always verged on a bite. Again packing this tobacco makes all the difference to keep that at bay.

All in all. Very very light flavours, no sweetness, any toppings or casings are lost completely... low key ‘pipe tobacco’ room note.

Honestly. There are far better aromatics available, many in bulk where your dollar will go much farther.

Sorry CAO...this one is just...disappointing.

Eileen's Dream: A bowl of meh

The topping is sweet with a pleasant creamy vanilla topping and some liqueur, but is not heavily applied like some other American aromatics. Yet, the tobaccos still seem to get lost and muddled. The black cavendish adds a creamy texture to the smoke and the bright Virginias offer some grassy-crispness. There is just not enough flavor in either the topping or the tobacco to make it stand out from its competitors. The tobacco also gets a bit goopy. On second thought, I would pass on another bowl of Eileen's Dream.

Edit: August 2019 I am picking up on a little earthiness from the cigar leaf. That at least pushes this up this blend to two stars as it helps it stand out a little from other similar aromatic blends.

CAO – Eileen’s Dream

I purchased a sample of this as a part of a special offered by an online retailer in conjunction with a YouTube piping channel. Since I began my piping journey again in the last year or so I have made a point to try and stay away from aromatics. I think that was a wise decision.

Opening the tin (ziplock bag) and I get a very strong whiff of what smells like Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur. I should mention that I do not care for Bailey’s. I get virtually no tobacco scent out of this.

The tobacco is in what I would call a ribbon cut, dark brown with some lighter strands. It feels almost greasy to the touch.

Upon lighting I’m greeted with the overpowering taste of Irish cream, and not much else. I cannot taste any tobacco here, though my palate perhaps is not nearly as sophisticated as others’. After about the halfway point the cream taste disappears to be replaced with nothing. It tastes like hot air and not much else.

Would say that I was disappointed but I was frankly not expecting much out of this to begin with. Thankfully I only had to purchase what amounts to about three bowls. Unless you really love the taste of Bailey’s and prefer not to have any taste of tobacco at all in your aromatics I would steer clear of this one.
