CAO Eileen's Dream

(2.91)
Inspired by CAO's flavorful Eileen's Dream Cigarillos, this blend begins with a base of quality Virginia and black cavendish leaf and then infuses the same with a frothed cream that's been laced with superior Irish whiskey and coconut milk, followed by a subtle mixture of hazelnut paste, ground almonds, cocoa and vanilla extracts.

I’ve been searching for more solid aros to add to my stable recently. I enjoy a sweet tobacco of an evening sometimes, but I cannot seem to enjoy a tobacco if there is no tobacco flavor, as was the case here. I certainly want to taste the topping, but as a sweet addition to good tobacco flavor, not as a casing which hides a bland base. I loved the tin note and my wife certainly loved the smell in the room as I was smoking this blend, she was really hoping I’d like it, but I simply could seem to find a satisfactory reason to keep puffing away on creamy air.

This high quality aromatic is simply wonderful,, for starters, it won't bite, ever, even if smoked vigorously. The high quality black cavendish is the hallmark of this blend and CAO pipe tobaccos in general - a perfect base for the flavor palette of this blend. The chocolate flavor is there but mild and smoothed out by the creaminess of the other flavors. It's flavor is true to the bottom of the bowl and it doesn't get bitter,, as many, many blends can do. Folks, this will be a crowd-pleaser so smoke it at parties or where ever you can to win fans of the pipe and have even the most rabid anti-tobacco folks asking "What is that wonderful smell?" ,,, I love it when that happens 😉

4 stars ****

Cheers All,,

Disclaimer: I'm new to pipe smoking, and to reviewing tobacco

As a new pipe smoker, when I opened the tin of Eileen's Dream, I was pleased by the obvious smell of chocolate, with a hint of vanilla. The tobacco appears to be mostly comprised of black Cavendish, and seems a bit moist right out of the tin. I air dried a small amount for a few minutes before loading my pipe.

One char light, and a light tamp before putting flame to it again briefly. Only had to relight once more, near the bottom of the bowl.

First puff gave a definite taste of vanilla, but it wasn't overbearing as I expected. The smoke was full, but relatively mild. As I progressed through the bowl, I started getting a bit more of a chocolate note. As with the vanilla, it wasn't overpowering in any way, just present.

I expected this stuff to smoke hot, since it seemed a little more moist than I'm used to, and because of the aroma. I was pleasantly surprised, and received no tongue bite at all.

Left a light chocolate after taste, and had a great room note while smoking. Not something I'd smoke on a daily basis, but if I wanted something with some flavor, and something with a pleasant scent for those around me, this one would definitely be an option.

This blend is an aromatic smoker's dream. It has a great tin note of chocolate, cream, and vanilla. It packs very well and is not wet and goopy at all. On a charring light, the vanilla comes through strong with a hint of chocolate in the background. The chocolate tends to become more prominent as the bowl is smoked, and the smoke is thick and creamy. You begin to notice the taste of tobacco as you near the bottom of the bowl, so it is much more than just a chocolate truffle flavor. I like that, and I love coming home to a big bowl after a hard day at work. Everyone loves the room note as well. It is certainly worth keeping on hand for every aromatic smoker, and a damn fine change of pace for the English smoker as well. Grab a tin and have a bowl after dinner. You might just be surprised.

Trying this after a few years ago, and being a mostly non-aromatic smoker, this turned out to be pretty good. It wasn't overly cased as others can be. It almost had a hazelnut taste that I really enjoyed.

It was a mild blend, not quite mellow. It wasn't too outside of the box, but it was a tin I could easily finish.

Notwithstanding drugstore blends, which I do not smoke at all, this is one of the worst aromatic blends that I have ever smoked. The quality of the tobacco itself is suspect, and the burn characteristics are awful. It is difficult to light, difficult to keep lit, and offers no appreciable tobacco flavor. Despite the fancy flavor description, none of those flavors are there when you smoke this blend. In fact, it smells and looks like a very, very cheap black cavendish. One of the few blends that I threw away after a few bowls. CAO really dropped the ball with these blends, and this is the worst of the bunch. There are a host of rich aromatics which are light years better than this abomination. Any of the Sillem's blends are excellent choices, for example.

I really enjoyed the tin note but got nothing out of the smoke. There was no tobacco flavor, very little topping flavor and little to no nicotine. I tried three bowls before throwing in the towel. This one just isn't for me.

Complex indeed and very sweet but I would shine brightly if it were not for the chemical flavor that dominates everything.

This would be a great tobacco were it not for that. I can't even identify it specifically. Its just got this lakeland perfume chemical thing going on in front of the good stuff. I gave this to a friend who actually got sick from it.

This stuff is pricey enough, so don't waste your money honey on chemical perfumes in the toby.

It is worth noting that I find little to enjoy in aromatics. I've tried many recommendations and fan favorites but most disappoint in the flavor department. I don't find this to be the case for EO. I gave it a go after Muttnchop Piper's recommendation on his Youtube channel and I am glad I did.

Unlike most aro's, the blend does not depend on the topping for flavor. The sweetness of the Virginas comes through as well as the cigar leaf addition, which adds complexity. Certainly gives off a "vanilla latte" taste with notes of chocolate and nuts. It is quite a dry smoke for an aro as well.

English/Balkans and Va/Pers are my main blends but EO is a wonderful addition to occasionally smoke for a change of pace or to bring out when guests are over.

Boy, don’t know what to say. Everybody loves Eileen’s dream. Nothing but good comments. When Muttonchops on utube says it’s good, I buy it. BUT this stuff leaves me flat. Lots of big clouds of puffy smoke. Burns well. One light. But, no flavor, burns hot, lots of bite, blah! Smoked 3 bowls to give it a chance, but nothing. Used different pipes. Update: thought I smoke a few more bowls to give it a chance. Should be renamed, Eileen’s nightmare. Bland, no flavor, taste more like alfalfa then anything. So I will date it, and put it in the stash. Pretty tin.
