A supreme style of pipe tobacco based on the renowned cool smoky aroma of Cyprus Latakia. To perfect this delightful tobacco there are selected golden Virginias with aromatic Black Cavendish and sweet Greek grades added to satisfy the fastidious pipe smoker.
Notes: Albeit no flavoring is mentioned in the description, the additives list reveals 3.1 grams of added flavoring to 100 grams of tobacco.

I found this blend to be lighter than average when it came to Latakia. Moderate Latakia content is not a bad thing at all, but this is no Lat bomb.
On light, the Latakia dominates, but as the bowl progresses, there is a growing savory taste that I very much enjoyed. I really like it when I get that distinctive umami/Worcestershire sauce/meaty flavor, and that happened a few times my 50g tin.
So, overall a very tasty, solid Latakia/Oriental blend. However, one note of bias: I smoked most of this tin while breaking in what would turn out to be one of my "magic" pipes. This pipe delivers such an excellent, consistent smoking experience, that I look forward to smoking Old Dublin again in a range of pipes to see how it fares.

This is lovely stuff. If your looking for a light, creamy, sweet well balanced English then this is the fella. I can't fault it. Its in the same bracket as SG squadron leader which slightly has the edge for me however this doesn't require all the drying time of SG which is great. A must try for the English lovers as it makes a very pleasant early morning and all day smoke. I will definitely be buying more in future.

As a returnee pipe smoker following a long absence I’ve been working my way through Peterson’s blends of late. Anything Cavendish is amongst my favourites but I thought it time for a change. English tobaccos are virtually unknown to me.
Having read about a third of all the reviews here of Old Dublin, I find myself agreeing totally with all the eulogies about this lovely tobacco. My only previous experience of latakia was a sample of Soft Scotch from GQ Tobaccos, which was a gorgeous cool silky smooth smoke with a cuddle of malt whiskey.
Old Dublin was a very pleasant surprise with the recognisable and lovely taste and aroma of latakia permeating throughout as well as a fair hit of nicotine. I’m not really experienced enough to pick out all the other blends, I sort of got the virginia in a small way but the Cavendish seemed totally absent. The bowl stayed cool throughout with no bite whatsoever, and burnt evenly and cleanly from the char light.
For other newbies who’ve taken the path of aromatics and are wanting to branch out, I’d fully recommend Old Dublin as a very pleasant surprise. As others have also said, for anyone wanting to kick the cigarette habit, this is one pipe tobacco that could help you make that switch! Definitely on my list from now on.

As an all-time Dunhill Nightcap smoker, I have once ventured into buying one of Peterson's OId Dublin tins… And I have since smoked a good deal of them!
Although it is very close to Nightcap, this one is much stronger in Nicotine: smoking it in the morning on an empty stomach could send you back on the nearest chair.
However, this is what I like it for: a good kick in the ass. And during the day, it keeps kicking you, and (hopefully) making you think smarter.
Nightcap, perhaps, is more complex, when you take a while to appreciate it with, e.g., a cup of tea. But this one reminds you of a time when not many people had the opportunity of lazying (I guess it is why they called it "OLD Dublin").
While working, this tobacco is among my very favourites, and will remain so. My girlfriend does not bother when I smoke it, though she hates the smell of the tin!

I must say that this is one of Peterson"s better blends. The components come together to form a very nice blend. It comes out of the tin with a moisture level that is very good, not too dry nor too wet. It lights and stays lit very easily. It burns nicely to a nice ash at the bottom of the bowl. Highly recommended for any who likes a nice middle of the road English.

Great middle of the road English tobacco. Perfect amount of each component in the mix. Old Dublin is not an Lat bomb but it's definitely there to give it that nicely smokiness of Cyprus latakia. The blend is quite sweet and its really smooth. Old Dublin seams to be really consistent in the quality of the tobacco I have gone through several tins and the only drawback I have noticed is that the tobacco Is quite moist in the tin. So it requires some drying time before smoking. This is my main go to blend when I'm in the mode for some English

Second Tobacco i've smoked from a pipe, first was a straight virginia, which was way too weak for me as a long time cigarette smoker. Thought i'll try an English blend and i really enjoy it. the strength of this blend is very close to a cigarette but with much more pleasant taste~ everything was just right, smooth, long lasting, ,burns cool and i can see myself smoking this as a all day smoke. I would highly recommend this to those who are trying or wanting to switch from cigarette smoking to pipe smoking. although we dont inhale pipes (i find myself do sometimes...) this will still have the enough nicotine to support the crave. its also the first time which my non-smoker partner actually "dont mind too much" sitting beside me, and the smell of the bowl after its finished is somewhat nice... (sometime i really hate the burnt tobacco smell leaking everywhere after the bowl is finished...). overall, a great smoke.

This is a very good English blend. The VA's form a nice sweet foundation but one that is more felt than tasted. Lat. is good and smokey but at a percentage that does not overpower the Orientals. the Oriental's have a sweet floralness about them and really shine in this blend. They stand out more than the average English a very well done blend. However, it will bite and it does not have me just wanting another bowl. This is certainly someones go to blend but for me it is just another very good blend among the many other English's that are out there. It is worth revisiting in the future but for now there is no need to buy enough to get the discounted rate.

I have not smoked a ton of different English blends but this is one of my favorites.
English blends I have smoked:
Billy Budd, Epiphany, Early Morning Pipe, Frog Morton's Cellar, Nosferatu (local blend in Denver)
Old Dublin is smooth, has a mildly sweet aroma (that you can't really taste), is a bit nutty, and is over all very satisfying to my taste.
It isn't as strong as Billy Budd, it has a bit more flavor than EMP and isn't as harsh as Epiphany, and you can't really taste any added flavor like with Frog Morton's Cellar.
The cut isn't as fine as EMP -- which is about the only thing that I think would improve it.
EDIT: I got it in a sampler pack so it was a good price but buying it on its own, it would have been the most expensive tin of the lot.

A classical blend which would be called 'old London' if it was not Irish, therefore 'old Dublin' - as in Dublin when you have the choice between an 'Irish breakfast' and a continental breakfast!
Pleasent blend, well balanced, for the smoker with a taste for that bit of Latakia which makes the difference.
A try if you find it and can cover the price as most of the blends from Peterson are in the top price range. Worth it!
