Relaxing outside and smoking some H&H Burley Cake in my Ukrainian 3 piece. Trying to catch up with work and then go through all the posts I missed.

Smoking a bowl of MacBaren Vanilla Flake in my cob. ☕

Another busy day at work with little spare time. War Horse Green has become my "get the most bang for my buck" tobacco when I only have time for one quick smoke. It is robust enough that 1 small bowl is not only satisfying but back to back bowls would be a bit much.

I’m blending the Royal Yacht from Peterson with an almost equal amount of CAO Moontrance. They’ve each been open about a month and if you haven’t tried this, you really should! Gobs of smoke, and some excellent flavors from both the topping and the tobacco. Do it!

That sounds interesting. I love Moontrance.

Moontrance is terrific. It’s so rich and tasty.

Still new at this, I’m pretty surprised by how much better these tobaccos taste after being jarred for a month, compared to the minute I opened the tins a few months ago. Some of the tobaccos changed more than others. But they really do settle down and change noticeably. Royal Yacht especially. Seems like the more Virginia it has the more it wakes up.

Having a bowl of Peter Stokkebye 701 virginia in my Milano bent Rhodesian. Some reviews give it a "meh" rating  but I think it's excellent stuff. Lots of sweet bready and nutty notes.

Just recently had dental work done. I've had a lot of problems for years and decided to get dentures. I can't clinch a pipe yet but I'll get there. At least I have a nice smile now.

In an effort to extend the life of my GL Pease Sixpence until my next tobacco order, I mixed in a pinch of 1Q. It made it slightly sweeter and made the Perique more pronounced- which was unexpected but welcome.

KBV “ACADIAN FLEK” in a Savinelli 316KS. First tasting. This is Ken’s McClelland-homage VaPer - so, presented in their traditional chunky broken flake, lightly cased in red wine vinegar. Detractors have called this casing “McCatsup”, but I like it. It’s anti-microbial as well. So, less likely to “grow hair” should wild spores drop by.

Never had the legendary original(s). Anybody know how it compares?

Here's my AKADIAN FLEK review. I'm way behind with weighing in on the new blends I'm trying and liking. 🙄

Great review! It definitely captures the spirit of the McClelland VaPer blends. There were a number of them and Acadian Flek doesn’t copy one precisely. I don’t think it’s intended to, so I’m finding it difficult to compare it beyond saying it’s carrying the torch. It’s good stuff. Just my opinions.

Smoking the last bit of my amphora yellow in my stanwell 29. I'll be sure to pick up another pouch in the near future!

Now I am on a small experimentation kick. I love my VaPers- perhaps a bit too much as they are disappearing quicker than my next tobacco order is approaching. I am trying to mix in some inexpensive bulk blends, that I always have a good amount of, to stretch out my dwindling quantity of Perique. This morning was a great success with 70/30 Firestorm/BCA. Sweeter but kept most of the same great flavor. Last night was a bad failure- Firestorm/ Creme Brulè. Yuck! Dont do that one.

i use to mix all end of English mixtures i have til i get a full jar and it gives more time til i buy again and always end up with something good, but it works like that only for english mixtures, when i mix aromatics most of time i end up with a bad experience.

Just a thought, since you like mixing and you are enjoying Perique, you might want to check out Sutliff Elizabethan Match. It’s a bulk blend and a pound only costs about $35. It’s actually a really good VaPer on its own, but would also blend in well with others.

I just looked that up. Great idea and the price is outstanding- 8 oz for the same price as 1 tin of the good stuff. Your thoughts are always welcome! And as luck would have it  I just got 3 new bulk jars- which hold about 14 oz comfortably.

Trying a new home blend. 2:1 ratio Peter Stokkebye 701 Virginia and C&D Exclusive. Man......this is good stuff. Sweet, earthy, and spicy. This puts Elizabethan Mixture to shame and I love Elizabethan Mixture. I'm not big on Exclusive by itself but I got it as a blender.

Kicked off the day with some Elizabethan in the Acorn. Now, I’m going to have some Bosun Cut Plug in the bent Dublin. Bit early for a G&T (12.40), but life is short! Plus, the sun is shining, which makes it ok 😊

Mac Baren scottish again. In my stanwell 29. I think there's another month or two of me smoking this stuff almost exclusively coming up.

Quite understandable. They got that blend right. Every time I smoke it it’s like meeting and old friend and I’m left wondering why it took me so long to smoke it again. You’ve encouraged me to pop a tin into a jar, I didn’t open another when I finished my last one.

Starting with a bowl of Bosun Cut Plug in the Acorn. I’m really enjoying this blend; lots of flavour and a good bit of “oomph”! Put it this way, it leaves me feeling satisfied for a good while afterwards 😊

Enjoying some GL Pease Six Pence in a cob. Although my supply is diminishing in a hurry, I can't bring myself to mix anything into it.  Six Pence is too close to perfect to mess with it.
