Peterson Old Dublin
(3.29)
A supreme style of pipe tobacco based on the renowned cool smoky aroma of Cyprus Latakia. To perfect this delightful tobacco there are selected golden Virginias with aromatic Black Cavendish and sweet Greek grades added to satisfy the fastidious pipe smoker.
Notes: Albeit no flavoring is mentioned in the description, the additives list reveals 3.1 grams of added flavoring to 100 grams of tobacco.

The Old Dublin
Tasty looking ribbons with shades of light and dark brown. The moisture is perfect like with all the Peterson tobaccos.
Now the smell from the tin, its smoky, sweet and tangy.
Lighting is easy and the flavor is mmmmmmmmm. The latakia smokiness is there, but never dominates, herbal and creamy Orientals, more citrusy, than hay Virginias and the Cavendish gives a sweet, almost fruitcake-like experience. It is certainly flavored, but mildly.
A perfect interplay of tobaccos. Not an all day smoke, more of a after lunch or dinner smoke. An English dessert.
4 Stars!

I have smoked several tins of it, though spread over many years. I reached out for it when I felt the need for a lighter English blend. And that’s what it is,:a light to medium classical English blend. It is very balanced and tasty. Everything is there, nothing stands out or takes the lead, which makes it a harmonious English mixture.
Since I am more into rich, heavy, campfire-y, leathery English/Balkan mixtures, “Old Dublin” is rather weak to provide full satisfaction. Still a good smoke that I can highly recommend.

I just opened this tin after being stored away for 5 years. I remember from before that new tins of Old Dublin have a pretty intense funky tin aroma until they air out a bit. This did not have that after being aged so long. What I can tell you is that I find it intoxicating when smoking this. The smell of the smoke is amazing and the taste is excellent too. For me, one of the biggest pluses to Old Dublin is that it has never punished me for smoking too fast or hot...it just will not bite and I have a terrible time with other tobaccos, so I know what it is like to have a mouth scorcher. This is my desert island tobacco...if no other tobacco was ever made I would be fine smoking this the rest of my life. I am not one to pick up on every nuance of a tobacco, but my guess is the basma is something I really like in this blend. With that said it just seems well-balanced overall. Lot's of other reviewers seem to back me up on all this so I am really just preaching the gospel of Old Dublin.

This stuff is awesome. What else is there to say that hasn't been said yet. Lights great, smokes great. I like the smell of it when I'm smoking it but people around me usually do not like it haha. Oh well. Taste good too if you're into that kind of thing. I always have a tin or two on hand all the time. Current tin I'm working on is from 2016. Ages well. I like it more after I've had it stored for a while but fresh out of the tin is great too! I found the taste, tin note and room note very similar to Dunhill Durbar.

What can I say, Old Dublin is a great tobacco.
Smoky latakia, and nice spicey orientals. The flavour is full from start to finish (take note C&D), lights easily and stays lit. Nice creamy smoke, and a real pleasure. Not an all day smoke due to the full flavour, nic hit is mild though, with no bite.

This contrary to popular opinion is dunhill 965, so see my review on it. I won't argue with anyone who says it is not 965, as you probably are suffering from the things my tobacconist attributes to pipe smokers because of this blend, as mentioned in my 965 review.

A very mild smoke. Had all the flavors with less strength. A great all day smoke. Had a bit of Cavendish that adds some sweetness. No bite. Good for a beginners and experienced smokers. Enjoy!

At this point and time I have to say that Peterson Old Dublin is my favourite english blend! It is so well balanced and smokes so consistent through the entire bowl! If you love it on the first light you will love it until it goes out. I'm a relitivly new pipe smoker and for me finding a consistent blend has made it very enjoyable. The first thing that you taste is the Latakia and it's fairly strong wich I love! Then the oriental and virginia will come in. I do have to say though being a new pipe smoker I do find I'm having a hard time picking up virginias in all English blends. (Maybe just me). One more point try to smoke this tobacco slow and cool and it will reward you with a most pleasurable smoke!!

This quintessential Scottish Blend is my go-to English. A beautifully blended Virginia forward tobacco, followed by a nice spice with smokey overtones from the Latakia and a subtle sweetness from the Cavendish. Moisture content is spot-on and the fine ribbon cut provides for a pleasurable smoke. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to try a Scottish Style english.
