One of my lifes biggest mistakes. Though I'm not an all to experienced smoker, I found this one nothing els but stiff and boring. But then again, I'm born and raised in Sweden, and we have a very (to be frankly honest) whoosie style of tobaccos.

I think others have said this but I'll say it again. To me this seems like a milder version of Dunhill 965; milder in taste but not lacking much nicotine if any. Apparently the early-morning smoker sitll wants their full dose of nicotine to get them started for the day. Then again maybe I'm just too sensitive to nicotine or something.
Even though this is supposedly mild I found it stronger in flavor than the last mild english I smoked (Valle Crucis) so I'm rating it medium on that. Valle Crucis was a bit too mild for me and EMP is about as mild as I think I can stand in an English blend without getting annoyed at the lack of latakia flavor.
I detect a slight soapy flavor so I'm assuming that there is a little bit of casing involved in this somewhere.
Overall I think this is quality stuff but to me it's nothing special. Maybe if I were more of an "Early morning" or all-day smoker, and i smoked more 965, I'd see more point to this stuff, but to me theres no special appeal. If you find yourself craving a milder 956 at times though then give this a try.

Unfortunately my quest for the ultimate morning smoke did not end here. IMHO this tobacco has little body or smoothness--in fact it's slightly bitter with a touch of harshness--definitely not what I want to wake up to. I keep trying it as a first smoke and end up wondering why I didn't smoke something more well-rounded (965). I have also tried it in the afternoon and ended up wondering why I didn't try something more full-bodied (965). Now it sits on the "why did I bother" pile, waiting to join the others in my can of "BriarNorth Blend". I guess I see no point in messing around with bland-mild English blends when there are good ones out there to smoke. Furthermore, the low nicotine is a strike in my book, as I'm looking to kick the day off with a proper buzz! So it goes...

I had fond memories of this when I opened my most recent tin. I had not tried it in 8-10 years, but have recently rediscovered an enjoyment of light English style blends, where light refers to latakia content. After setting the open tin out to air for about a week, I found that the pungent aroma was very nice, and fuller than I recalled. The initial taste and flavor was nutty, turning quickly to short passage through a bright and citrus-like period when the virginias took hold. The middle half of the bowl was characterized by a delightful spiciness that was complex and changed often. The bottom third settled down into a nice consistent flavor that was restful after the quick turns and changes of the middle bowl. The light volume of latakia was noticed in this portion of the bowl as a solid bottom note rather than the smokiness that is often the characteristic flavor in mixtures with a heavier concentration of the dark, smoked leaves.
There was no tongue bite and it certainly did not overwhelm the palate. Tasty and complex for a light latakia blend. Highly recommended.
I do have to mention that this tin had aged for 7-8 years. I have also recently tried the bulk version of this, which I find to be sweeter and less complex in the nutty tones that I enjoy in the tin. I hope more recent tins are not reduced in their complexity and overall flavor. (4/02)

A nice one to keep on hand . It isn't overly memorable , but it is mild and easy going . I usually smoke this in the early morning , as in the *real early* morning , just before bed and after a hard day of smoking . It tends to be a little more easy on the mouth and nervous system .
