EMP was my first Dunhill Tobacco followed shortly by London Mixture and Nightcap. I found EMP to be a tasty english blend but unfortunatley it lacked the full latakia kick I was looking for. Nightcap was too strong in latakia ... for me, the best bang for the buck is London Mixture. If you want a mild english, EMP should be just what the doctor ordered however.

i don't like the smell from the tin. but when it comes to the taste - very good. easily lit and will stay to the end of the bowl. good taste. yes, can be smoked several bowls a day. my wife does not like the smell that much but she likes the tin cover. recommend to buy a tin or two and try.

EMP is nice anytime of the day. The name does kind of give it a pre-supposed existance, as the "first" pipe of the day. Good stuff. I especially like the coolness that comes form this blend, no bite at all. I really enjoy this.
If your a relitivly new smoker I would reccomned this blend because of is sensabilty in strenth and flavor.

The tin aroma is very rich natural english tobacco smell: musty and spicy, though EMP has a sweet smell, almost caramel like aroma that i havent smelt in any other of the Dunhill english blends. It is medium strength and slightly sweet with a typical english taste and aroma. I gave this 4 stars because it is rich and tasty without having a heavy or muddy taste that, although I like sometimes, is not the preference among many in the morning. It is in this sense a very good morning smoke, and also an all day smoke if your habits tend towards that.

I'm a relatively new and ocasional smoker and bought a tin of this after reading the reviews on this site. I quite enjoyed this blend, but find it a touch harsh on the throat; perhaps EMP is better suited for a more frequent/ experienced smoker? I love the aroma in the tin (a leathery, woody smell), although this does not really come across in the smoking experience itself. The tobacco is best left to air for half an hour prior to smoking, after which it packs and lights relatively easily. Few re-lights are required, and I agree with reviewers who comment on the campfire/ burning Autumn leaves aroma. A great nicotine hit too, however this tobacco is not really for me.

At the crack of dawn.... rays of sunlight filtering through the trees.... early morning mist hovering over the fields.... my dogs at my side, deer in the distance - birds melodious in the still air. A cup of Tim Horton's and a bowl of early morning pipe in my Peterson Shannon bent apple. Kill me now - it doesn't get any better!

Mmmmmmmmmm, Dunhill Early Morning Pipe.
This is quite simply a delicious, un-pretentious and satisfying smoke at any time in the day.
I often find myself sitting out under the stars, with a pipeful and chuckling to myself about what time exactly in the morning they were aiming at (Perhaps 1 or 2am?) :).
I find this an interesting and tasty blend, that seems to smoke well, but Is a little moist when the tin is new - but this is a good thing. Better too moist than too dry - just leave a pipeful on a plate for ten minutes prior to indulging.
The Latakia is smoky and rich, but blended in a manner that is not overpowering (This was actually the first english I tried whilst smoking aromatics exclusively).
The finished product is well rounded, tasty and interesting, with a satisfying and mild smoke. In my opinion, its a little low on nicotine, but certainly not to the level where I would consider it weak.
All in all, one of my favorites for many reasons.

Well here goes, this is my first review. Las evening I tried EMP, I've been wanting to venture out and try some new things since starting to read these reviews, well for me it's back to the drawing board as far as taste goes. You guys that smoke this stuff are far stronger men than I. All I can add to this is it tasted like a pile of leaves on fire, and I'm standing in the smoke breathing in deeply. I guess I'm just a woos but I'm going back to the mild aromatics so at least I can stand the taste and smell. Just not a sophisticated smoker I guess. Perry--5-4-05, On further review, I had a full tin of this so I had to keep trying it as to not be wasteful, after a few bowls I grew to kind of like the stuff, or at least I was able to finish the tin. I can now say I've at least tolerated what some call a fine tobacco. Perry

I very much like this one. The orientals in this, blend very nicely with the virginias, as the latakia rounds it out and gives it a good volume of smoke (not a great volume) but good. I'll be keeping a few tins of this one on hand.

This is the first tobacco I will review, as I consider it the first 'real' tobacco I smoked.
I began pipe smoking with a few local blends that I found in the jars at my local smoke shop. They were defiantly aromatics, not to say that they were all that bad. When I finally got around to doing some Internet research, I read on "The Professor's Pipe Page and Tobacco Bar" this little ditty, "I finally tried a couple of natural, English-style blends, despite warnings that these were for more serious, seasoned pipe smokers only. Surprisingly, these tobaccos provided the kind of taste experience I was somehow hoping for."
I knew the moment I read this, that I needed to start smoking English-style blends immediately. Unfortunately I was out of town when I read this, so it wasn't a few days till I could get my hands on some tobacco. When I finally got home, I rushed to the tobacco man and asked for some guidance on picking an introductory English blend. He gave me Early Morning Pipe and said, "Study this, when you're done, come back and talk to me again." The second I laid my eye's on what I still believe to be the greatest of tin art (along with it's darker more serious brother nightcap), I knew I was in for a lifetime of enjoyment!
I marched home eagerly awaiting the treat that lay in the small brown bag I was holding. I popped the tin, this was the first tin of tobacco I had ever popped, and marveled at the esthetic quality of the packaging. So naturally I loaded up the bowl of my cheapo Dr. Grabow and fired it up.
I can remember the first puff, oh the joy! From then on, that puff is the benchmark flavor that I associate with English-style tobacco. I've been in love ever since. Out of all the tobaccos I smoke, this is the only tin that I keep when I am finished. I don't know why, all they do is lie in the corner collecting dust. I do, however, enjoy looking at the stack and remembering all the varied memories associated with smoking this beautiful blend.
Most mornings, it is EMP that I start the day with. However, I often return to it a few times throughout the day. This is certainly one of my favorite blends, I owe a lot to my friend at the smoke shop. In just the same manner, I would recommend this blend to anyone wanting to journey into the wonderful world of English-style tobacco smoking!
