As suggested, this one's good for the first or for an all day light strength smoke. A fragrant, naturally sweet tasting blend, with a small amount of kick. Dunhill seems correct in saying that this blend is a good one to start the day but I have found it to also be a good smoke anytime. I recommend everyone (at least) try this one; it's worth it. I don't have any of this on hand (and I haven't since I found GL Pease, Piccadilly) but, it is good enough to hold a top rating.

Here you get a real English one.

The Tabaccos used give it a strong natural flavour with different kind of nuances:

In the beginning I always get the automn breeze, I'm reminded of smoking leaves. There's a whole bunch of exotic flavours to discover accompanied by a smooth sweetness which is close to licorice.

It's best to let it dry out a little and than go to the cool early morning experience.

I believe it is called "Early Morning Pipe" as to truly savor it, you must have a relatively fresh palate. I first tried smoking EMP after pipes of 965, Night Cap, and other rounder tasting blends. I could barely get a thing out of the smoke aside from...dull smoke.

With a clean mouth and a refreshed pipe, I can taste a burst of tangy citrus orientals, musky turkish, hints of sweet VA and a tiny bit of Latakia. All billowing out through out the bowl. Fairly complex yet not overwhelming in flavor. As I had hoped and suspected, I classify this as "Durbar Light". Less power, harshness. Still plenty of taste. As others have noted, this is NOT light as far as nicotine goes. Expect a VERY high nicotine kick. Nightcap usually gives me little trouble, this made my head spin.

Similar to Pease Samarra, though a bit fuller in a cigar like flavor. While I enjoy it, I believe there are other tobaccos in this category (Orient Express, Baalbek, Samarra) that are a bit more interesting. Though I believe the strength in this tobacco, like many of the Dunhill line I've been recently working on, comes in the pedigree and reliability. And at the price (if you hunt around), you likely won't be disappointed by a bowl of EMP if you like Oriental blends on the lighter flavor side.

After some years I tried a tin of this tobacco. I is a nice tobacco, but no better. If I have to smoke a latakia-based mixture in the morning I absolutely prefer Paul Olsen's "King George VI".

After getting a whif of a jar of this stuff at the tobacconist, I was interested. It was like an english, but not. It had a lot more of a virginia aroma, with a note of oriental.

The flavor changes between two main stages for me: REALLY TASTY, and 'sortof bland'. Unlike most reviewers, I actually get the best flavor out of my bowls from the first third, midway the flavor dies down, and then occasionally comes back at the bottom. 'Really Tasty' is awesome; it's a mix between spicy and nutty, with a hint of virginia sweetness added in. Some people have said there's Latakia present, but I'm not so sure. If there's latakia, it's in a negligible amount. I didn't detect it at all.

I could see, flavor wise, why people would want to smoke this in the morning. But I definetely wouldn't. I'm not a morning pipesmoker anyways, but my sample has nuclear tongue bite. It does smoke pretty hot too. All these wifes out there that hate pipesmoke will probably not appreciate the aroma, but I liked it, it's the first blend I've had that actually smelled like pipesmoke to me.

It's getting towards my perfect blend, but because of the bite, heat and often dissapearance of taste, I have to give it a 3. Maybe I should try some non-latakia oriental blends and see if I like that.

It has a good name really. There is a lot of serious names on the market sugessting serious smoking experience. This is a fun name and this is a fun smoke. In fact you can do tons of fun things with this one. Pack it tight, pack it loose, take big big puffs, take a toasting slow puff and it will react differently. All reaction is good and well tempered. This is one of the most frequent tobacco I smoke. It is very spicy but managable. Best for folks who like to get into English Mixture cause it is light enough and yet kind of flavorable..

The illustration on the tin is a triumph of image over reality, although I say that in jest. It's intended to be a first smoke of the day, or smokes, and it gives off the aura of a mild smoke, which it isn't. It's a pleasant medium English blend which I smoked for years on and off, until I learned that the best early morning smoke is the one you are in the mood for, and not any particular strength. I have a lot of pleasant memories of peaceful mornings with this one, and recent smokes haven't changed that. It's one of the classic Dunhill mixtures and with good reason.

I love this blend, what's not to like, sweet Virginias, rich Oriental, wonderful Latakia. This is a tobacco which goes through a transition, starting out with just a hint of sweetness provided by the Virginias and just a hint of a bite, almost like a Perique (although no Perique is supposed to be in it) then it really mellows out and the Latakia kicks in. A great all day smoke if you like a milder English. Not the strongest as far as nicotine goes, but enough to wallop the uninitiated. The tobacco smells nice in the tin, full of Latakia, it burns clean and leaves a nice gray-white ash, very little or no dottle. The tobacco is a nice cut and appears to be of high quality, it lights easily and requires very little relighting. For me, an enjoyable smoke anytime of the day, again not as strong as 965 or Nightcap but a good choice when something lighter is desired. If you are not a fan of the heavier English blends, you might want to try this one, it might be a good blend for someone wanting to crossover from straight Virginias or Aromatics. I would give this tobacco an 8 out of 10. I will definately keep it on hand.

I do not have the time to describe the attributes of this tobacco in detail as others do. However, as I do wish to contribute some feedback, I will simply rate this tobacco on a scale of 1 ?10, including tenths.

I no longer smoke English blends but my notes indicate I found EMP lacking 'oomph." - I like more body. I rate this tobacco 7.5 out of 10.

Unbelievable! Quite simply unbelievable! For some reason I have avoided trying this weed. I think it was the words mild and delicate that caused me to instill a subconsious aversion to trying this. I have since been cured of this aversion to say the least. I recently read somewhere that the references to strength that Dunhill(Murray) uses on the tins is in reference to Latakia content. Well, this may not have a high Latakia content, but it is certainly rich and satisfying. This blend showcases how important the Va's are in an English blend. These are simply the best there are. This has become my new favorite Dunhill blend, right beside Nightcap. I detect no flavorings here, just the absolute very best weed there is. The blend does pick up some intensity the further down it burns, but never nips, nor gets sour. The last third marries the VA's and Orientals into a perfect tobacco bliss! You must try this.... Now...... Hurry.....!
