This seems to be a copy (taste-wise) of Larsen's No. 50, with walnut/honey/maple hints, beautiful medium-brown ribbons of high tobacco quality. Very pleasant room note, though the smoking process itself is a bit boring, as the smoke doesn't really develop. Not to be confused with saucy, bitter-sweet aromatics (Planta) - this blend is subtle, delicate, elegant and gentle. Smoke it with patience, else it will bite. Not a fantastic tobacco, but a good "light aromatic". 3 of 5 stars

This was the first tin tobacco i purchased and to this day is one of my favorites. The flavor is just incredible. You take an idea of how awesome and enjoyable is this tobacco right off the moment you open the tin.

Ya know how some danish blends are alittle hot and overly fruity or whatever ... this isnt . Burns well , tastes good and could be someones all day smoke . This ia a light blend all around and is pleasant. It's light in the nicotine dept.

Indeed I expected just a bit more from Davidoff, but it is great tobacco none the less. When I read danish mixture I expected something more like WO Larsen, but this seemed a bit stronger and more tobaccoey in taste, a fact witch I liked very much. It seemed to me that VAs are dominatig this blend. (A fact that makes me like it more)

This is very high quality tobacco. No tongue bite whatsoever. I feel high quality Virginias and Burleys. The Cavendish might by flavored, but it is so good and pleasant that I am rushing for another bowl and another tin. Highy recommended.

First time with Davidoff and it was a very nice experience. The Danish mixture is very mild, it allowed you to enjoy a long and quiet smoke. The aromas from the tin are very pleasant, some honey, walnut, and some kind of chocolate. The Virginias are the most predominant tobaccos in the blend, and the mixture creates a complex and pleasant smoke. It burns very well and doesn't bite at all. Nice experience and now I want to try other blends from Davidoff.

While Davidoff lists this as an aromatic, it is tobacco flavored centric with nice notes of fruit, honey, walnut, and maple. It is a smooth blend, nice retrohale flavors and notes. The balance is exceptional allowing the tobacco flavors to shine. This is the tobacco's strength. It's tin note as some mention has a sweet honey and wonderul smell. I great all day tobacco, pair nicely with coffee/tea or a spirit of your choice. Rum or bourbons pair the best.

Revised 7/3/23: My only aromatic tobacco after trying many others. In my experience it does not ghost pipes that are used for non-aromatic tobaccos. It is mildly aromatic, with many different flavors during each smoke. I especially enjoy smoking this blend on a hot summer day. I prefer English tobacco, but I always have this on hand. Consistent good flavor from beginning to end of the bowl.

Original review:

This may become my favorite tobacco. The overall pleasantness of the smoking experience is what makes it attractive. It is pleasantly relaxing, has good and varied flavor, and has pleasant room note.

Flavor is delightfully complex, but seems to vary with ambient humidity and temperature and the pipe it's smoked in. Every day it's a little bit different.

I have had flavors like strawberry, buttered popcorn, rose, rum-like liquor, and several unidentifiable but pleasant flavors appear in some of the puffs. It's delightful that way. There is no definite persistent flavor except that it tastes like good tobacco with these occasional bursts of surprising flavor. I like this understated fine quality. I have had other tobaccos with occasional bursts of good flavor, but this tobacco has the most pleasant and varied flavors.

I tried this tobacco because I was looking for a tobacco that has good flavor and a pleasant room note. That is in reaction to other tobaccos I have tried that have pleasant room note but not much flavor. This tobacco has both good flavor and good room note, so it's pleasant for both the smoker and people who smell the smoke.

My favorite pipe for this tobacco is the Savinelli 207.

Technique notes: My smoking technique is to focus only on smoking. No reading or work or other distractions. Just enjoying the smoke. Outdoors only. A few bowls per week of pipe smoking. Lightly charring the tobacco initially and with relights. Sipping. Occasional retrohale. Peterson pipe lighter with smallest practical flame. Sometimes a BIC EZ Reach lighter.

Am using a variant of the Frank method to pack a 2/3 full pipe without first putting loose tobacco in the bowl. I just take a wad of tobacco and press it into place Frank-style. Tobacco is stored in OXO POP container with size 60 Boveda 72% pack.

Savinelli 207 smooth is my favorite pipe and favorite pipe design.

Now. This has to be the best aromatic tobacco I have tried yet! Clearly dominated by the Burleys and the golden Virginias, DM contains very little Black Cavendish. The cut is mostly Ribbon with a minority of Coarse and Broken Flakes. The tin aroma is delicious and not your typical aromatic one. I can't recall smelling anything similar to it. The fig and honey are very present and it smells goood. To the point where I was a bit worried that it would not smoke great and completely intrude on the tobacco taste. But it did not. The Burleys bring enough body to the mixture to make it satisfying and provide a minimum of nicotine. The Virginias add natural sweetness. The casing is quite present but I was always able to make out the tobacco taste without seeking it. The burning is constant and it smokes well all the way. Past mid bowl things beef up slightly and the tobacco taste displays more presence. The nicotine level is between mild and medium. I have just finished the tin and I am impressed by this offering. The tobacco has been appropriately aged before tinning and is of very high quality. This is a winner in the aromatic category. For those looking for a stellar aromatic that is satisfying and will please your entourage, search no more and give this one a try.

When opened it smelled like bacon, so I was put off and let it rest for a month or so. Then I gave it a try and found something totally different. Tin aroma was sweet, like some sort if berries. It invited me to smoke it and..... revealed its true nature: I wouldn't classify it as an aromatic in the way as the red-green-and-blue series. The Danish Mixture's aroma is... flat, a little bit citric, but nothing else. It is not unpleasant but not as inviting as I expected.

Regarding its flavour, I surprisingly found it spicy. The description at Davidoff's website says it has Virginia, Burley and Black Cavendish tobaccos. Not Latakia nor Perique.

It burns hot (could be because of the Virginias) but without tong bite. Produces abundant nice creamy smoke.

I'll let the tin rest for a couple of months. Chances are my perception will change. In the meantime I can only say I don't find it as good as other Davidoff's blends.
