CAO Eileen's Dream

(2.91)
Inspired by CAO's flavorful Eileen's Dream Cigarillos, this blend begins with a base of quality Virginia and black cavendish leaf and then infuses the same with a frothed cream that's been laced with superior Irish whiskey and coconut milk, followed by a subtle mixture of hazelnut paste, ground almonds, cocoa and vanilla extracts.

Been smoking for the past week and it has grown on me, possibly because it has been dried a bit since receiving? In any case this is a fine smoke. I find that the subtlety of the flavor is the best part about this aromatic. We wouldn't get the chocolate truffle taste if it was too strong or sweet and the Irish cream would be masked. It's not something to smoke if you want a lot of tobacco flavor, and I don't think that is the point of it. It is a nice subtle smoke with a hint of cocoa and a pleasant room note, great for smoking around non-smokers and great with a coffee or as a desert replacement. Not an everyday smoke, but that is why we try new things. I certainly recommend keeping a tin around.

Nice aromatic here. The tin note is not as strong as I was expecting. Chocolate, vanilla, truffles and Irish Cream. You and definitely smell the alcohol topping. Sometimes it is a bit sharp and it does translate into the smoke which can be distracting but, over all its not a big deal. The smoke a washes your mouth with a sweet chocolatey coating. It’s great with a cup of coffee. The tobacco flavors do come through as well. The moisture was spot on and I had no issues with keeping it lit. The room note is as expected. Sweet. A nice winter time aro

I like the idea of aromatic tobaccos. In theory, the concept is great. In practice, they tend to leave me disappointed. That being said, Eileen's Dream is the best aromatic I've smoked. I suspect that this is due in large part to CAO using decent quality tobacco instead of just casing the hell out of the floor sweepings, but I digress.... The flavor is both noticeable and enjoyable, and remains fairly consistent throughout the bowl - provided that you don't puff too hard/fast on it. Better than Lane 1Q and C&D Autumn Evening, which didn't impress me much - and those are both considered to be really good aromatics by the pipe smoking community, from what I've seen. The second half of the bowl tends to produce a thick, creamy smoke, and I typically end up dumping the last 20-25% of the bowl, as there is a dottle buildup that doesn't burn so well at the end.

This isn't really a favorite blend for me, but it is my favorite aromatic. Not an everyday smoke, but it's nice for a changeup from my usuals, and it has a pleasing room note too.

The only other CAO blend I had tried prior to this was Cherrybomb, which I found to be a hot burning goop fest, so my expectations for this weren't very high to begin with. Tin note is not overpowering, but distinctly white chocolate with a hint of creaminess. Coarse ribbon cut makes for easy packing. A bit moist out of the tin, but not excessively so for an aro. Lights easily and stays lit pretty well. I'm sure if you puffed hard you'd get bit, but I wasn't overly cautious and I had not problems, which is saying something because I usually have to be careful, as I'm naturally prone to tongue bite no matter what I smoke. The flavor was pretty mild, but definitely as advertised. A slow, well paced smoke is necessary to glean the maximum flavor from this blend, but overall, pretty mild. The VA comes through in the background. Overall not too bad. I don't see myself committing to stocking up on this, but I can see myself buying a tin every now and then to shake things up. One of the better aros out there IMHO. Smokes best in a briar. Meer didn't agree with this blend for some reason.

A bit on the wet and gloopy side, but overall a good quality tobacco. I enjoyed this one very much. The tin note is incredible, and some of that flavor transpires into the smoke as well, which can't always be said for all aromatics. Overall, a nice after dinner treat.

Smells like white chocolate, condensed milk, some booze and black cavendish. Moist, well topped. Dries well enough, smokes fine. Flavour is good and grows throughout. Flavour has a smidge of grass and nuttiness, with a wisp of smoke and earthiness from the cigar leaf, but it’s basically just straight black cavendish and the white chocolate topping. Tastes pretty similar to the smell. Perfectly fine, but the dullness of the cheap cavendish knocks it down a notch. Extremely gentle on the palate. I would highly recommend this for beginners. It’s an easy 3 star aromatic and I’d happily smoke this anytime.

Strong, consistent and very pleasant Irish Cream flavor throughout the smoke. Tobacco itself is virtually undetectable due to the strong topping.

Needs to be smoked slow and cool. Stronger puffs and relights lead to a very sharp, acidic, chemical taste. Must be dried out before smoke.

Smokes quite wet, so expect some gurgling and an unignitable wet bit at the end of the bowl. As with most aromatics, the aftertaste isn't that pleasant.

3.5 stars as far as aromatics go. 3 stars overall.

This blend is really nice - not great, not very good, really nice. I have about a half a bowl left of a tin I had for a few months. It must be dried properly (meaning not OVER dried) to have really any flavor at all - and when you can get it that way in a suited “dry” pipe- excellent: slightly tart but sugary black cavendish that develops well, not overly sweet. Not as glorious as an LJ Periti black Virginia - but close. Don’t dry test by touch - I think there is some PG in it. Not a fan of that, but I still like this blend. Extremely mild. If you didn’t have to near perfectly nail the humidity - I’d recommend this as an excellent “new to pipes” blend.

As I have previously noted I’m not an aromatic smoker, preferring Virginia’s and Va/Per blends primarily. Having said that I do on occasion try an aromatic spurred on by a friend, a good review or description that intrigues me. That’s the case here. Frothed cream and Irish whiskey, hazelnut and cocoa...well that did it. Tin note is white chocolate, cream, a slight mint and very faint whisky. A little like Baileys Irish Cream. Moisture level requires some dry time but not to much. I will say that the taste when smoked mirrored the tin notes. At the same time the Virginias still come through. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. While I wouldn’t smoke this often, I do really enjoy it when I want a break from my routine and want to have some very different flavors from what I normally smoke. I’ve been told by those around me that the room note is outstanding. A downside for me is that it has a very low to nonexistent nicotine hit. This one is all flavor and not much else.
