I was going to smoke Samuel Gawith Firedance Flake, the jar was empty so I grabbed a tin, about four years old. I opened it and it was completely covered with mold. Smelled terrible. That’s the first time this has happened to me with any SG tobacco. Rather disappointing, especially since I have five more tins bought at the same time. I couldn’t bring myself to open another and check right now. 🙁

So now I’m smoking GL Pease Key Largo in a meerschaum billiard.

That is awful. Mold. I can feel your fear and trepidation over opening the other tins.

Tonight, out in the garage, I was puffing on Sutliff Match Sugar Barrel in my Weber Deep Grain 965.

Is the pipe made by Dunhill?

Brazilian brand comes to our market. I took some for reviews yesterday.

Out in the garage I enjoyed a bowl of Wilke 515 (Basil Rathbone's blend) in my GBD Conquest Century 9518.

Nice pipe! I feel that only GBD pulled of making clear stems classy.

Thanks! It's a great little smoker. And the bowl holds quite a bit of the sacred leaf. Those clear stems are classy. I like the looks.

Thanks. Standard Kaywoodie pot but with a Lovat style stem. Fun stuff.

Just now got around to trying Peterson Irish Oak I bought in 2011. I’m smoking it in a Butz Choquin calabash.

That is one nice pipe. You've posted it before and I oogled it then too. 🙂

I have a tin of Arcadia. I'm saving it for when the millennium arrives. But if I have time before the Grim Reaper knocks on my door, I may bust it out then instead.

Great looking pipe.

With Arcadia there is a debate about whether or not it contains latakia. I have sometimes thought I detected it by suggestion 🙂

What a great little pipe, like a subtle art deco take on the bulldog.

There is indeed an Art Deco look about the pipe. I love Art Deco. Maybe that's the extra draw!

The number 44 Astleys with a Stanwell. After many months of searching, as I was always out of stock, I managed to get my hands on a couple of cans. I expected much more from this tobacco. However, the pipe is my favorite for smoking virginias. 150 like this were made to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the house. It never fails me!

I also like to smoke these types of blends in pipes with the longer mouthpiece, because I find that it softens them slightly. Although it may be something psychological, like so many things that we pipe smokers have... 😀

Country Lawyer (Briarwoks), with a Rattray's pipe.

Of the tobaccos that I know with the cigar leaf ingredient, without latakia, this is one of the ones I like the most.

Trying out C&D blockade runner. It's pretty decent. Much better than black frigate imo.

This is also a tin from 2021, but I’ve had it in a jar for the past three months. It’s really good!

For sure yes! HU produces very good blends. Of the ones I've smoked I really liked Dockworker, Haymaker and Old Fredder's. One question: is the yellowish color of the shaft of that meerschaum billiard the original or has it taken on that color over time?

It’s coloring from being smoked. It was all white when I got it new. I just keep reusing an older picture of it, it’s darkened more now.
