Peterson Nightcap
(3.46)
A rich blend of Virginia, Oriental, and Latakia tobaccos, intended to be smoked late in the day. It's a smoky, delightfully satisfying mixture, with a hint of Perique added to enhance the bouquet.
Notes: Formerly known as Dunhill Nightcap, STG has changed the brand name from "Dunhill" to "Peterson".

It looks like I'm #102 in this review. Three notes:
1. Perique, though minimally tolerated by me, works surprisingly well with the latakia. Peculiar full flavor I really like.
2. Do people actually sleep after this? Cripes! Half a tiny bowl woozes me big time and I'm up for the night. Nicotine abounds. I smoke this when driving at night to stay awake.
3. It's the only Dunhill I'd buy again. But it will be a while.

I prefer latakia, and this is my favorite. I used to smoke it every night right before bed with a glass of armagnac to relax and unwind. Now I find myself smoking it once or twice during the day, and in the evening right before bed with a glass of armagnac. It's my little piece of heaven on earth.

This was from opening the can to the last puff definitely an adventure to the land of the traditional English heavy with Latikia blend. No attempt at pretense, just the straight stuff. One pipeful is very satisfying and grows on you as it progresses, and gave me a satiated, satisfied feeling. I don't think there is another blend quite like it.
The strength is not the issue for me as some others find it. An excellent, quality blend. Hmm, damn clever these Brits in calling it Nightcap - it is a good relaxing smoke.
NOTE: Dunhill blends by their current maker are no more. Some of these, hopefully including Nightcap, will be produced by Orliks. The effect on these tobaccos is something that we will just have to wait and see about.

Everyone else has already said just about all that needs to be said about this tobacco. For me, it was just too much latakia (didn't know there was such a thing until I tried this blend). Overall, a good tobacco to be sure but I would have to suggest London Mixture as a slightly lighter better alternative.

The reaction of my dog(he ran away) when an open tin or jar of this is put under his nose indicates it is good stuff. It is a latakia heavy English blend, with a little bit of perique added. The perique is occasionaly evident when smoking as distinct spiciness i havent found in other english blends. It is slightly bitter at the start of the bowl, tending towards slightly muddy at the end. However it is a very good tasting English blend and if you can't stand weak tobacco's than this is for you. Also in my experience the nicotine level of this blend is over-rated, though I must add I am quite tolerant of the stuff.

Not a bad smoke, but I was expecting something "fuller" as advertised. Suprisingly flat, but mellow. It is indeed suitable for a late evening pipe.

A 1989 Dunhill bulldog shell with cumberland stem, 2001 Cabernet Franc from Pellier Estates, and a deep purple orange sunset in my backyard to set the scene. Wafts of left over aroma from a recently completed barbecue and a few good friends relaxing on the deck.... light conversation..... e x h a l e .... Top Three Tobacco!

This blend has a taste similar to Penzance, in my opinion. The presentation is terrific, and is very easy to load. I find Penzance to be a little more satisfying, but Nightcap offers a little more "zest", probably due to its small amount of perique. Penzance is a little more earthy and subdued, while Nightcap has a perkiness that I found myself enjoying.

Like has already been said, smoke this for what it is and it is a very pleasurable tobacco. I am and probably always will be a lover of aromatics, that being said I'm trying to branch out and enjoy others. For what I would have to call a full english tobac I am sure this is about as good as it gets. I'll keep this around for the times I need a good kick in the pants. Definitely NOT an all day smoke for me. Perry

I am changing my views on this blend. I had once been so against Nightcap that I rated this one of my least favorites, due to the heavy Latakia taste in this one.
I think, instead, that I was smoking this blend with the idea of trying to make it something it clearly was not. I am primarily an aromatic smoker, so that is what I expected it to be. When it was not, I threw it away (literally) with so much disdain. I think now you have to appreciate it for what it is; a heavy English blend with a good woodsy smoke. That and the fact that I am starting to branch out. I keep a tin of this on hand for those days when I am feeling especially full of piss and vinegar.
