This is my favorite so far, but I am new to pipe smoking. Love the flavor. Tasty and mild. Will always have tin of this ready to go. Packs very well...no tongue bite. I do let it dry a bit until I smoke it - helps to avoid soggy finish.

This is also my favorite in the dunhill line thus far. Prefer it to 965 hands down. Can smoke it all day - no bite just full tobacco goodness. Nice smokiness from the latakia, gentle "just sweet enoughness" from the VA, and nice roundness from the turkish/ orientals. Very balanced and satisfying if you enjoy English Blends.

A classic English mixture, with Orientals in the leading role complemented with rich Virginias and Latakia. In fact, it's so classic and so well balanced that it lacks the character I like to find in a tobacco. Anyway, London Mixture is a must try for any serious pipe smoker.

I was able to smoke a tin of Dunhill London Mixture before all the Dunhill blends went out of market. To me the London Mixture is a very well refined English Mixture, with a great balance between all the components. Nice Virginias, very good Orientals, the right amount of Latakia. The interplay between the actors involved is great and gives you a great smoke.

Last month pipesandcigars.com was having a Dunhill tin sale for seven bucks a tin so I bought some more different ones I have not tried yet to add to my cellar since production is to be discontinued. I have smoked about six bowls of this today and find the tin aroma to be mildly sweet with a slight sour smell. The tin says this is a medium cut and was packed in the tin hard as a brick which at least makes you feel you are getting your money’s worth. I scrapped some off the top and loaded it into my pipe. This starts out smoking sweet with a little tartness toward the end which is nice. To me the Latakia was definitely in the background with the Orientals taking the front row. No bite, smooth and nicotine not noticeable but I do not smoke a pipe for that and it is irrelevant to me. I enjoyed it and am glad I bought some for later. A solid 3 stars for me.

Dunhill created this blend in 1928, and the rest is history. Likely the blend that inspired balkan sobranie, this is a very oriental forward smoke. It gets a peculiar taste about 1/4 into the bowl, which comes from the high percentage of oriental. Very dry, smoky, and peaty. Perhaps the standard english blend? It goes well with cool air, has a pleasant room note, and leaves no lingering aftertaste. Oddly, the scottish blends with cavendish came before english blends, which are a further refinement of the genre, for the oriental taste. It can only be described as "cream smoke." It must be experienced to understand it. If you haven't tried it before, you must ask yourself why you are doing this to yourself.

To me this is a bit flat. Not really flat, but also not "full bodied" or what i'd call a "very full/rich aroma". It's just really the definition of "Medium"-Blend. Strenght- and tastewise

Indeed - it's very well balanced, not bity, not harsh, a good, tasty aroma and smoke - but also not really complex or special in some way.

The tin smell is woody, a bit smoky. Packing and lighting is easy to do and the tobacco burns really well! Once lit you get a unobtusive, mellow and good tasting smoke out of it. There's really no need to concentrate on the flavours of this one, as it simply doesn't deliver that much of flavours - which hasn't to be a bad thing, at all!

I get some delightfull woody note mainly. Paired with the smoky Latakia taste and a bit sweet/sour Oriental note it delivers a solid, tasty smoke.

This can be puffed easily while doing something, watching TV, or working in the shed on something.

2/4 Stars - I wouldnt take it into my daily rotation, but its definetly worth trying and I see theres definetly a audience for this tobacco!

If you wonder how would taste pipe tobacco from XIX century, then you should try it. Toned, elegant, stylish oriental with an old soul. One of unnumerous pipe tobaccos nowadays that can take you back to the past and let you feel how pipe tasted in victorian era. Much better than Standard Mixtures. High quality of components ensures you that it will be a wonderfull breaktime. Next to Nightcap it's one of few representative tobaccos from Dunhill.

Although they are somehow nearby each other, I wouldn't say that this Dunhill is similiar to Samuel & Gawith Skiff Mixture - London Mixture is much much better, few levels higher.

For me dunhill blends are very hit or miss. This offering would be a miss for me. London mix seems to be an oriental forward very light english blend. My tin had a little more than a year on it so that could have mellowed it more than a younger tin. The first third of the bowl is unpleasant. The tobaccos don't really seem to come together. Each one pops up here and there fighting with each other more so than complementing themselves. As I push on the bowl settles out a bit. The blend finally comes together offering a soft mix of lat/oriental with the Virginia being a bit player offering a small amount of sweetness. I was starting to enjoy it at this point. All of a sudden the bowl made a turn for the worse, it did not recover. Mostly sour and hot steam. If puffed at a nauseatingly slow pace it still pretty much sucked. I was forced to dump my bowl.

Its obvious that many people enjoy this blend. I,unfortunately, am not one of them. It seems to be made of high quality tobacco.

Of course now comes the question of keeping it in the cellar indefinitely of tossing it? It's always difficult to make myself donate to the compost pile. My tastes invariably change with time but I think the total lack of nicotine just might push me over the edge and toss it. I suppose some folks smoke a pipe and don't care for much nicotine. I like it, hell I need it. In summary. There are much better english blends on the market. This may be the one for you. Not me.
