I bought a tin of Orlik Racing Green a while back and had been itching to crack it open to give it a shot. From the reviews I was not expecting this blend to be as good as it really is. When you first open the tin the tobacco is a finely broken down flake texture and moisture is perfect for a pack and go pipe. The scent has a citrus alcohol vibe that translates to the smoke quite well.

Flavor has a tangy Virginia citrus that tingles the Tounge giving a Tounge bite feeling without actually biting (if that makes sense). Some other reviewers conspired Racing screen to Royal Yacht and can understand that comparison yet the 2 blends are different enough to recommend trying both. Retro hale brings out some different flavors as well.

The burn of this blend us excellent and just 1 good light is usually enough to make it thru the whole bowl.

All in all I was blown away by how good this blend really is. Shortly after cracking the tin I went back and picked up 2 more since they were on sale for $5.99/tin making this a famtastic value for the quality of the product. With the recent possible discontinuation of DSK I plan to work thru the rest of the Orlik line since this was my first experience with any Orlik product I'm going to look forward to trying the rest of their blends.

Happy piping everyone!

It can be an interesting blend for non aromatic fans. Cavendish is unnoticeably low in this baccy. Lemon and spice are the main characters. Not so complex and the taste does not vary a lot. An easy-to-go blend. It was very humid when I got it. I opened the tin and leave it aside for a year. Didn't even try when it was extremely humid. Still after 12 months, it's not yet dried. I am satisfied

Opening the tin, I was greeted with that Fig / Raisin note that I find very appealing, I couldn’t stuff the bowl fast enough. I sat back, relaxed and slowly worked my way through the bowl. While I enjoyed the quality of the tobacco in this blend it just did not deliver the complexity and depth I was expecting, it just fell short of the mark for me. I tried changing up the pipe I used but did not see any improvement.

Not wanting to give up on this blend I packed the remaining half of a tin for an eight-day business trip to Mexico. There is a nice coffee shop on the hotel property with outside seating so I took this opportunity to grab a Macchiato and take a seat in the courtyard and have another bowl in the morning sun. This was the fit I was looking for, I did enjoy this blend with my morning coffee and that is how I will finish this tin.

I have another tin in the cellar and think I will let it age a couple of years and revisit to see if it improves. Will I buy again, only the future will tell? (2.5 stars)

I was honestly not expecting much from Racing Green. But it has not only exceeded my expectations; it is, in fact, an ideal all day smoke for someone looking for a tobacco that's easy to pack, doesn't require attention to enjoy it and has enough nicotine to keep one happy. The moisture content was perfect. Frankly, I can't say this is an aromatic, by all means; and I can understand the comparison to Golden Sliced with some Cavendish added. It has the typical sweet virginia taste with some hay notes. It burns very well but don't puff away too fast because, being mostly golden virginias, it can bite if you push it. 3 stars and, yes, I am going to buy more.

A mostly Virgina blend with a bit of Burly and Cavendish thrown in. The tin note was citrus. Mine was dry when I opened it, but I packed a bowl and gave it a try. Lights easily and burns well. The Virginia was most prevalent, but the citrus/vanilla casing was a nice complement to the tobacco. I am not usually one to smoke Danish-type tobacco, but this one was an exception. I found it to be an enjoyable break for the predominantly cav blends that I smoke. For best results, sip it. I personally would not consider this an all-day smoke

I have always wanted to try Orlik Racing Green and finally decided to buy a tin - based largely on the positive reviews on this site.

Upon opening the tin, there was the quality presentation that I have come to expect from Orlik. There was a faint top note, which I couldn't put my finger on but that is where it ended for me. Lighting up, I certainly would not describe this tobacco as an aromatic in any sense. In my tin at least there was absolutely no flavor whatsoever and none of the sweetness others here pointed out. What I got from this tobacco was a mild-medium strength smoke that tasted like Golden Sliced without a hint of the sweetness. Having also experienced a similar disappointment with the current Erinmore Mixture (and Flake for that matter), I wonder if the new owner - the STG - has dialled back their flavor profile TOO MUCH due to the criticism from many that Erinmore, etc, have been to sweet, heavilly flavored and goopy? Who knows, it could have also just been a bad batch. Either way, by the time a 50g tin passes Customs here in nanny state Australia it ends up costing around $60, so I can't afford to receive tobacco not to my liking.
