Peter Stokkebye Turkish Export (No.84)
(3.50)
Stokkebye’s Turkish Pipe tobacco is a flavorful uncased blend of Turkish Samsun (a legendary Oriental leaf) which is sun-cured and expertly blended with ripe Virginia tobaccos for a complex pleasing smoke. It is lightly aromatic and smooth.
Notes: This comes in 2 cuts - a fine ribbon (in bulk) for pipe, and a fine shag (in pouch) for RYO.

I didn't have particularly high hopes before smoking this blend. I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised.
If you've ever had an unfiltered Camel cigarette, that is very similar to what this blend tastes like. Sweet Virginia, slightly spicy from the Oriental, and a hint of dried grass/grain.
Not a particularly complicated blend, but satisfying and straightforward.
It does smell a bit like cigarettes, so don't expect to win many people over with this.
This would also do well as a blend-in to something a bit smokier to give it a little zip.

Thinly cut ribbon, almost a shag. Smells naturally sweet, with some faint sourness and a hint of spice. This may actually well be an uncased tobacco blend.
Packs well when using a light hand. Very easy to keep lit. If smoked slowly, lots of oriental goodness is to be savoured. Sweet and sour and somewhat salty, with a rounded nuttiness and some spice — and an underlying woody dryness. The Virginias aren't noticeable at all. Mild in flavour and not a lot of nicotine. Not a complex smoke, but far from a one-dimensional one.
It is important to smoke this slowly and evenly. If not, an unpleasant, ashy cigarette-taste comes forth. This tobacco can easily be inhaled, but that's better avoided in a pipe. I have not tried it (and probably won't), but I am sure this would work well in cigarettes. As a pipe tobacco, it could easily be an all-day smoke. Would probably be good for blending too; I'd like to try this mixed with some earthy, dark Virginia, and maybe just a breath of Latakia.

I want to point out that the old review below mine is a good one, that guy did a good job and it was because of his review I purchased this blend to give it a go, I do enjoy some of Stokkebye's tobaccos in RYO form because its how cigarettes used to be before they became toxic tobacco and nails to your coffin one puff at a time just horrible. My go to cigarette tobacco is Norwegian and Amsterdam but now Turkish No.84 is the top dog of them all, a most excellent tobacco blend to be rolled or smoked in a pipe. RYO Style- smooth and bursting with flavor, the orientals are there but the Virginia's are what shine through and give a very pleasant smoke, its alittle sweet which is a good thing but not sweet like a aromatic sweet its the Turkish tobaccos that compliment the Virginia's nicley giving the sweetness and the nicotine level is perfect, it does not lack at all but its also not in your face to much which I do not like with tobacco because high levels of nicotine feels gross unless its a cigar because of how it hits you but that topic does not belong here so I will not boast about it. If not in shag form simply lay the tobacco out for about 20 minutes then come back and break it up and let it sit for another at least 45 minutes and it will be perfect if its still moist. Pipe Style- a beautiful blend for a pipe preferably a corn cob you will get the best results and the corn cob will forgive the smoking of this blend and not ghost the bowl. Rich but mellow with the orientals shining through the Virginia's nutty and ultra smooth, a very neutral taste with character this blend will give you a very natural tobacco taste and satisfaction. The tobacco would also make for a great blending component to anyone's homemade creation and compliment many variations of ones blends and for all the reasons above two thumbs up. I would recommend this tobacco blend for a superb RYO style smoke and the pipe is just as awesome!!! High quality NO chemicals perfect taste well rounded nicotine level all in all beautiful quality, refer to the below review for further more detailed information, thanks for reading my review and God bless all you fellow pipe smokers. ( It is not a mortal pipe smoker sin to twist pipe tobacco in rice paper and puff away, that does not mean your a dirty little cigarette smoker) lol!!! The above review is from my personal experience only, from using cobs to rolling to blend, this is a MY opinion on this blend and reflects no others thank you.

My two ounces of Turkish Export is of the fine ribbon variety found in the bulk version of this blend. The pouch scent is of grassy bright Virginias and I smell that more than the Samsun. I have always found Samsun to be a delicate, sweet Oriental that needs to be sipped in order to get the most out of it. That is the case here too. The Virginia component offers a little sweetness and mostly hay. The combination of the two make for a bright, sweet blend. It starts out mild, but quickly turns medium in strength. There is no bite, but due to the cut and components, it can burn a little warm if pushed. Careful packing is important in order to get the most out of this blend. TE isn’t complex , but straightforward only building in flavor as each bowl progresses. I prefer McClelland Samsun (Grand Orientals) over this blend, but this makes a solid alternative and easier on the wallet. It also is a great blend to add to other blends. I would expect this to cellar very well too.

Soft, subtle, flavorful. Very pleasant roasty/toasty flavors with a hint of spice. Retrohale provides a sharper spice tingle. Burns clean all the way through. Excellent change-up smoke!

This blend is perfect for ryo tobacco. I'm not sure how it would be in a pipe i imagine it would be a little more mild then a ryo. I really enjoyed this blend because it tastes like my favorite cigarette a camel blue. It is very smooth very mild not overwhelming definitely a light smoke and an enjoyable smoke if you aren't really into bold flavor.

Easy on the nose, the tongue and the wallet. TE 84 is a very nice tobacco with a raisin-y tin note and a good aroma. The tin note is more tobacco-y than the taste, though.. There's just not enough oomph (tobacco flavor) for me to want to smoke it all the time. But it's good enough that I give it a 3, which its quality warrants. Very pleasant and undemanding though enjoyable smoke. If this had a little more punch it would be fabulous.
EDIT 10/27/14: Too mild for me, though others obviously love it. If you want to try an Oriental but are concerned about Latakia, this has only Orientals and Virginia.

Samsun oriental and virginia. "Simple" ingredients but so majestically blended. Tin and room note are cigarette like but in a good sense. The oriental gives spicyness to the blend, not too light nor strong. It was on the dry side (bulk), but no problem whatsoever. It lighted very easily retaing its flavor. A very easygoing blend overall. A must for lovers of orientals.

Very natural tobacco. Yes it's Cigarette like without chemicals. In the pipe it's smooth and nutty. Very Versatile, from clearing old ghosts from your pipe, to its wonderful blending ability.decent nicotine. Inhaling doesn't cause me to cough/ choke. I'll roll some of this ounce I purchased but I'll keep most of it for my pipes. To me this is what EMP should be. Straight tobacco that goes fantastic with a cup of coffee. Great blend , no regrets!

Very tricky tobacco. Once you try it, you're sure to buy it again and again and again! Sweet enough, spicy enough, burns well to the very bottom. Don't pack too tight, or you'll get a disgusting cigarette aftertaste. Quite moist in bulk, dry it a little.
