Peter Stokkebye Black Coffee

(2.75)
Black Coffee is a blend of burley, Virginia and black cavendish, infused with a rich, slightly sweet coffee flavor. Great all by itself, it can also be a nice addition to blends with chocolate or whiskey flavoring.

In my quest to find a good coffee flavored tobacco I gave this one a try. Not as pungent as the Cornell & Diehl Espresso I had, but not much coffee essence either. Between the two it was "better" in that I didn't crinkle my nose when I tried it, I just wish it had some coffee flavor (or any flavor for that matter) when smoked. It was dry and just unassuming... more akin to a generic aromatic that didn't have much aroma.

If I simply wanted a neutral effect I would smoke this, but I can't really recommend as a coffee tobacco. I did recently revisit it and while it was still plain, but was an OK smoke when packed tightly.

This tobacco blend has a very nice flavor to it, although it is much more caramel than coffee. if you're looking for a black coffee flavor here, you will probably be disappointed, but the flavor that is there is mild, sweet and pleasant...just not coffee. I can't rate high on the room note because my gf says that this blend actually burns her nose, so I never smoke it when she is around. I will somewhat recommend this one.

In the pouch- Nice coffee aroma. A little on the dry side.

In the pipe- Slightly sweet pleasant coffee flavor. Burns a little on the fast side. The topping doesn't overpower the quite good tobacco flavor. Room note is pleasant, but light.

Packed using the three step method the pipe became very warm and the tobacco was harsh on the tongue, mouth, and throat. Packing tightly helped, but the smoke still tended to be somewhat harsh. Two stars is the most I can go here.
