McClelland No. X-9 - Blended Light Burley Ribbon
(3.00)
This fine Tennessee burley ribbon offers the characteristic rich, nutty flavor of natural Burley lightly dressed for increased sweetness. McClelland's heat-seasoning with a small amount of flue-cured tobacco unites the flavors, removing harshness. This is a very pleasant, subtly sweet tobacco suitable for a number of uses.

McClelland - No. X9 - Blended Light Burley Ribbon.
The sweet topping comes across clearly from the unlit tobacco, which is a medium brown, of a good hydration, and is made of medium size ribbons.
The smoke has a very heavy build, so I keep the window opened! But, apart from getting irritated by the rain coming through the window, it's a very good smoke! The topping enhances the flavour nicely, without dominating the blend. The Burley tastes 'wholesome', and not quite as light as the name implies! I get I get more Burley in the smoke than I do Virginia. A bowl burns perfectly: clean, cool, with little need for re-lighting.
Nicotine: just below medium. Room-note: nice, apart from the volume of smoke!
A top quality Burley, that demands four stars:
Highly recommended.
