In the mail came 6 pouches of WA. I had never heard of it and had not ordered it but the box had my name on it. So like any true old pipe smoker I pulled out my knock about pipe, tamper and lighter. Opening the pouch the tobacco smelled strong. They way tobacco should. I got a strong hint of the Latakia as it smelled so smoky. The Virginia and Orientals rounded out this pouch and I had the feeling the day was going to be even better. Packing was a charm. Nice cut and smooth. First lite the tobacco soldered but stayed burning even after tamp. Relight helped the heavy smoke develop. This was strong. Taste was strong and I had to go to the cellar and pull out two pints of dark to help me along. Slow smoke and drink was in order. This felt so good. An hour later I was happy from the tobacco and the beer. I went back to the box and scrawled with a note was next month's pipe club sampling hope you enjoy. David. Lol. Gee now I hope I make it to LA to talk about this blend.

Summary: a Virginia-forward, moderate Latakia English with a spicy but reserved flavor.

The secret to a good English is in finding balance that still allows individual flavors to shine, and secondarily, avoiding the over-dominance of Latakia. "Wild Atlantic" has a medium Latakia flavor with the Virginias taking center stage with a rich and honeylike flavor accented by the spicy texture of the Orientals. The result balances smoky and sour with sweet and nutty, making a good all-day smoke with complexity that emerges throughout the bowl.

Once again I must tip me hat to the fine people of Peterson of Dublin Ireland. This is a top notch blend that I will certainly order again and again. The red Va's give this fine smoke great body and definition and is perfect to carry the smokey headiness of the fine Latakia that shines through and balances perfectly with the spiciness of the Oriental leaf. This is certainly a blend to please for the English lover. This is great blend to smoke in the morning and a perfect all day smoke for the steadfast English blend fan.

I come from Cuban cigars, smoke habitually one "mini" in the evening. And… yes, I know the difference between the big handmade and the small machine built quality.

This is my first review. After reading a huge number of Maigret novels I had to try pipe smoking, so I bought two clay pipes (in order to spend not too much money at the beginning of the adventure) and two tobaccos recommended by a local tobacconist. He gave me a light aromatic blend and WA. Meanwhile, I tried some more ok-reviewed tobaccos, but I declare WA guilty of my decision to go on trying. The rich composition of flavors took me by surprise: naturally sweet, salty, woody, spicy, licoricy, smoky… wonderful aftertaste, room note obviously tolerable, even pleasant (my wife smokes cigarettes).

Later on, I bought two no-name-but-ok briar pipes. WA is still my favorite. The clue is that I find this blend at least twice as good when smoked in a virgin clay pipe. In a briar pipe it seemed to me a very enjoyable all in one taste, but in a clay pipe I could distinguish all its niceties one by one. Thanks for the experience.

I have been smoking this for quite some time, but it hardly crossed my mind to review it. Now that I finally got around it I must say that I consider this among the better english tobaccos under the Peterson name. The name in itself is very suggestive, as this blend is quite full bodied, not wild as in overwhelming, but wild as in medium to full tending more towards the full more than medium, with quite a bit of spice. The latakia is the glue that holds it together, while the spiciness of the oriental pops up from the first puffs. In the absence of the virginia I would imagine this to be a dull and harsh blend, so the subtle sweetness is a must in the whole concoction. Overall this is a spicy blend with a constant smokey sweet background that stays with you the entire bowl. As one progresses through the bowl, one gets a feeling that the spices get more prominent in favor of the sweetness, while the smokiness remains at a constant level. Watch out for vitamine N. The first few times I tried my hand at this blend I did unfiltered and on an empty stomach. so I was punished with some hiccups. Once I have learned to respect it, it became a go to blend for the cold fall and winter evenings. Perhaps not an all day smoke, but certainly something I like to keep in handy - above and beyond my expectations for a pouch tobacco.

Great and balanced Latakia,Turkish and Virginia tobaccos.it smells latakia and it says virginia and latakia are dominant rather than turkish. it may be best choice for first pipe smoking of day like as dunhill early morning pipe and WA may urged to give up dunhill early morning pipe

I have recently become a convert to Peterson's tobacco's as I was a straight Dunhill guy for many years. All my pipes are Peterson's, so I decided to give them a try. First time I tried it, I thought it was ok, but the more I smoked, the more I liked it. When it became unavailable for a while I order 10 pouches from pipedivan (in Ireland) and now it's become my staple go-to tobacco for an all day smoke.

It's a mild latakia with a good smokiness to it and it has a slight salty mouth taste (which may be psychological due to it's name) but I find it really nice. It burns well and the pouch is a nice change as it's easy to carry in my pipe roll. I like the room note as my office smells great each time I walk into it.

This has become one of my favourite blends from Peterson's. My gateway baccy to their other mixtures. Now I find myself going for the Peterson's over the Dunhill blends.

This is a nice all day tobacco and if your a fan of English blends, give it a try.

Well, I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to get my hands on this blend, but I finally got it and I’m very, very happy I did!

Things to take into consideration:

1. I received it in a pouch from a friend, he just opened it and took a bit from it, so I got almost the full pouch, without it being left open too long, so the tobacco came to me fresh. I took it out from the pouch and put it in a hermetic jar so keep its moisture.

2. It is almost 3 years old so that should also be taken into consideration.

Now, lets see what we got here!

I open the jar, get my nose in it and take a deep, long sniff and.... oh, God! It’s not very strong but, damn that’s very good! You can detect a lot of latakia and the oriental with its leathery smell, smoky, some sweet notes and just a little spiciness in the back, probably from the orientals. Excellent! The “tin note” is excellent for my taste!

The tobacco presents itself in a very nice ribbon but, with colors ranging from black to dark brown and orange. The moisture has been kept excellent in all this time, it’s just perfect to put directly in the bowl. Packs up very easily.

First match light (false light): Smokyyyy!!! Leatheryyyy!!! Sweet!!! Smooth!!! Damn, this hits you with some really good taste!! The smell in the room is excellent!

Second match light: This is latakia. This is why I like latakia, this is why I love this blend. The different tobaccos blend well, but the latakia is the star in this one. Smoky, incense-like smell, silky/velvety, like having a delicious cloud in your mouth.

Considering that the tobacco I have is almost 3 years old and was kept in a pouch then put in a jar, it’s very interesting that the latakia has kept its “power”.

This is what I call quality tobacco. Not just the blend, but the tobacco used in the blend seems to me like top class tobacco. It tastes like tobacco should taste, with no other taste. I’ve smoked a lot of english blends, Nightcap was and still is my favorite, Artisan’s Blend was great, Commonwealth Mixture was great, and this one comes in my top 4 English blends. It’s medium to full bodied, and honestly, I’m enjoying this one even more than Commonwealth, it seems to have more body and more latakia than Commonwealth, which for a latakia maniac like me, is perfect.

It burns absolutely amazing! It doesn’t go off at all. I have the pipe in my hand while I’m typing and it doesn’t go off. I take a few sips from this and every smoke that gets into my mouth gives me a great experience. A cold, very tasty smooth smoke.

Amazing taste, great for latakia lovers. Very smoky, leathery, also sweet, there’s a little spiciness in the background, probably from the orientals as it has the specific spiciness of the orientals and not the one you would get from perique. Haven’t felt the spiciness at first, it comes a bit later as you’re approaching half of the bowl, but this isn’t a bad thing for me. It actually blends great with the sweetness, so it’s crazy, it’s an explosion of aromas and tastes, it’s not just the latakia that is in the front, but if you look more into it, it has a lot more to give you than the latakia, which is by the way one of the best latakias i’ve ever smoked.

Nicotine is medium, which is very good for me, because sometimes when I smoke a very low nicotine blend I need to light up a cigarette (which I know is a heresy, but I need to get my dose of nicotine). This one gives the perfect amount of nicotine.

I think I’ll stack up. Need at least two more pouches of this!!!

Reading the reviews of this tobacco here is what compelled me to buy it. This is my first review so bare with me. I found this tobacco to be very likeable. Upon opening the package the smoky smell of the latakia is the most noticeable. It is definitely an English blend, but not too heavy on the latakia. Nevertheless, the smokiness of the lat is present throughout, but not even close to overwhelming. I detected the spiciness of the Orientals and a nice sweetness from the ripe Virginias. There is a creaminess and a nice robust flavor midway through the bowl. The tobacco is dry right from the package which is how an English blend should be. Needed only a few re-lights. I smoked several bowls of this tobacco and found it to be very enjoyable. I did actually detect a saltiness a couple times, however it's not consistent with every bowl. I don't think it was because my pipe needs a thorough cleaning, so I can't say for sure. Hands down an all day smoke.

I picked this up on a whim from my local B&M. It is a very nice blend whose components come together quite nicely I must say. The smell of the pouch is very enticing. I agree with another reviewer that the Peterson definition of a "generous amount of Latakia" and mine differ quite a bit. This is anything but a Lat bomb in any stretch of the imagination. I would say that this is a very evenly tempered blend that produces a decent amount of smokiness and has a less than middle of the road amount of nicotine in it. It smokes down to a fine ash at the bottom of the pipe. If you are looking to expand from aromatics, then this is the blend to give a go and you will never look back. The moisture level is just about right right out of the pouch. Some may need to dry this some before smoking away, but not too long. Highly recommended.
