Peterson Wild Atlantic
(3.20)
This elegant blend comprises of loose cut ripe orange Virginia, fine Oriental leaves and a premium quality latakia from the Balkans. The generous amount of latakia provides this rich blend with its unique English character and a traditional smoky note.

Wow. I haven't smoked an English blend for a while. This is good. The Latakia is definitely the leader but is never overpowering. The grassy Virginia and the spicy Orientals make their appearance in a fine way. An all day smoke and a big hit for Peterson.

Fantastic blend. Hits all those latakia smokey flavours, tempered by a good amount of yellow virginias. Smokey flavour is ever present, yet never being too strong for any pipe smoker. Comes compressed packed too. Half-way between a plug and loose cut; almost ready to pack straight from the poke. In all, making a very enjoyable and repeatable smoke.

I'm going to give this blend the full marks - it is flawless in what it is. And that is a superb Latakia driven English blend. The Latakia takes centre stage but the sweetness of the orange Virginia tobaccos are not hidden in the mix and often come to the forefront. The blend also contains oriental leaves which adds no doubt to the full bodied feel of the smoke in the mouth. Absolutely stunning...trust me I smoke a lot of English blends and this is up there with the best of them.

I was browsing the offerings of a Nemzeti dohány shop in Hungary, Gy?r, where I stumbled upon this blend. The other offering with latakia was EMP from Peterson. That one is too light on latakia for me, so I choose this one. It was a good choice ?
A wonderful all day English. Sweet VA, spicy, herbal Orientals and a good amount of Lat.
Easy to stuff, easy to light and keep lit.
I suggest a corn cob for this one. It really shines in that type of pipe.
No hassle, just smoke and do whatever you want. A good companion.

This is a pretty simple, but very tasty latakia blend.
I'm mostly an aromatic smoker, however I enjoy a good latakia from time to time. This one is definitely worth recommending. What is interesting about Wild Atlantic is that it's actually pretty mild for a latakia blend, so it shouldn't be too harsh for people who don't like an overwhelmingly smoky flavour. It offers a pretty good nicotine kick which is something one might like or dislike, however. Packs and smokes easily and requires little relighting. The room note is strong but intriguing in a vintage sort of way.
A good way to get into stronger latakia blends, as well as a very pleasurable smoking experience.

Excellent pouch blend! Nothing too exciting, but it was a lot more than I was expecting. For the price point, packaging, and what you’d normally expect from a pouch this is truly a four star blend in its category. Now it won’t hold up to other blends of great renown but for what it is it is a real winner. Great incense like Latakia, a bit of sugary Virginia holding that up, and a little bit of hay/earthy flavor in the background. A really good English blend in a pouch. Perfect for on the go, can easily be an all day blend if you like Latakia in the morning. I have found it can be a bit wet. It will dry naturally in the pouch. Four stars for the pouch category. Three and a half in comparison to tinned blends of renown.

I have just started smoking pipes as of December 10 2018. Been a chain smoker for over 24 years, the last 5 years being a "roll your own cigarettes" aficionado. Eventually smoking cigarettes was lost to me as I can't seem to find joy anymore in tobacco indulgence.
Enter Pipe Smoking, the original art of tobacco appreciation. And to cut the story short, I have been adjusting to life as a full time pipe smoker and abandoned cigarettes altogether. The first big mistake I did was to chug on an Aromatic (Mac Baren Cube Silver) like a cigarette which left me with a destroyed tongue for over two weeks, LOL.
And so the hunt began. I tried many type of blends. From straight Virginia to Burleys. And then I tried Erinmore Supreme Latakia - and I was hooked. I was also hooked to Captain Black Original. Switching between the two on regular basis for daily smokes. The thing is, I found the Erinmore SL - I can't smoke it as frequent as I wanted to - it's somewhat one dimensional feel which I find to be less enjoyable by the third puff done for the day. Captain Black on the other hand, being an Aromatic Virgina, from time to time still give my ever sensitive tongue nagging bites. Besides, I think it's somewhat a bit to sweet at times for a smoke on hot weather condition like where I live. Don't get me wrong, I love both - just that I can't chug on them as frequent as I wanted to.
Enter SM Squadron Leader, I got myself an aged SL in exchange for a partially used Devil's Holiday (which I found even sweeter than Captain Black). In SL I found the balance I seek. However there's this one problem with the price point. My intention for my primary tabac would mean that I need to smoke at least 300gm of them every month. So SL isn't that very economical to me
Then......there's Wild Atlantic. What caught my eyes first was the price point. Roughly similar (or perhaps a tad cheaper) than Erinmore SL. And so after reading the reviews here and getting some feedbacks from fellow pipers, I pulled the trigger on 4 pouches of WA. And that's probably one of the best decision I ever made in my life as a Pipe Smoker. WA to me gave the full Day to Day English experience. It is mildly sweet and smokey, it is definitely smoother than Erinmore SL, it offers the refined edges Squadron Leader are famed for. It is not a palette bomb, which makes it so easy for all day long indulgence for Latakia addict like me. Yes, as I typed this, I have just finished another greatly satisfying bowl of WA. For the record, I have aired the pouch contents for over 1 hour before smoking them - as my tongue does not respond well to moist tobacco. Not that WA is a very moist tabac in itself, but it does help to tone it to my liking. I am sure there are many refined or exquisite Balkan/English/Orientals offering out there, but at this price-to-value ratio, nothing can beat this nondescript Peterson's Wild Atlantic..... 😀

Wasn't too sure what to expect when I obtained this, however exceedingly grateful I did. Tobacco is neither too moist, nor too dry straight from the pouch, takes a light readily, and the flavour is very soon discernible.
A really enjoyable all-day smoke, and one that Peterson seem to have got right, having had a few misses with some of their other recent offerings.
So wholeheartedly recommended.

A nice English blend from Peterson. The latakia touch, not too strong, not too small, will satisfy the experienced smoker. An easy-smoking tobacco, not too strong, suitable smoking several pipes in a round.
