Fantastic blend. Hits all those latakia smokey flavours, tempered by a good amount of yellow virginias. Smokey flavour is ever present, yet never being too strong for any pipe smoker. Comes compressed packed too. Half-way between a plug and loose cut; almost ready to pack straight from the poke. In all, making a very enjoyable and repeatable smoke.

I'm going to give this blend the full marks - it is flawless in what it is. And that is a superb Latakia driven English blend. The Latakia takes centre stage but the sweetness of the orange Virginia tobaccos are not hidden in the mix and often come to the forefront. The blend also contains oriental leaves which adds no doubt to the full bodied feel of the smoke in the mouth. Absolutely stunning...trust me I smoke a lot of English blends and this is up there with the best of them.

I was browsing the offerings of a Nemzeti dohány shop in Hungary, Gy?r, where I stumbled upon this blend. The other offering with latakia was EMP from Peterson. That one is too light on latakia for me, so I choose this one. It was a good choice ?
A wonderful all day English. Sweet VA, spicy, herbal Orientals and a good amount of Lat.
Easy to stuff, easy to light and keep lit.
I suggest a corn cob for this one. It really shines in that type of pipe.
No hassle, just smoke and do whatever you want. A good companion.

I bought this 3-5 years ago; I normally date my tins and jars but did not bother with the pouches. This comes in a 40g size vice 50g. Upon opening the pouch, I was greeted with a very sweet-smelling tobacco. Almost as if it has some type of casing but your guess is as good as mine. Very little Latakia aroma. It is a fine ribbon cut compressed tightly in the pouch of med-dark brown color. Takes a match very easily and has a mild, clean taste to the smoke. If I was an all-day smoker and looking for something mild throughout the day in an English variant this would be it. I mainly smoke in the afternoons on the front porch watching the grass grown and prefer something a little stronger and with more smokiness. Not bad but not great.

This tobacco I learned to appreciate daily. It's a great product, rich in flavor that you always enjoy smoking.

While less strong than MM965 it knows how to accompany throughout the day and is very pleasant and easy to smoke.

It gives satisfaction and the Latakia is never overpowering. It is a well-balanced product of its kind.

One of my favorites.

EDIT 01/31/2023

Well, well...I had the Standard Mixture just side by side with WA. Hmmm... I tried to do one bowl after another one respectively and I can confirm WA is a great one, but one level less than the Standard Mixture. Well after all , if we consider the price as well would deserve those 4 stars, but ok, there are for sure better English. This is a great one for its own category.

This one I tried when I couldnt purchase my very favourite Skiff Mixture from SG, I supposed it will be in the same taste profile. And somehow it is, but a bit stronger, less nuanced, darker. It is good enough to finish the tin, but not good enough to buy it once more.

This is a nice way of coming to terms with English Blends with a good dose of Latakia. First smell out of the pouch gives you an idea how the whole bowl will turn out to be. this is no speciality like you would expect from Peterson, but it is just in the middle between the cheap and the high quality products, like Squadron Leader, which is my go-to tobacco for this range. There is no artificial smell to it, this is natural. No question there were some processes on this smooth burning tobacco. One charring light and off you go. No dottle no gurgling, no special attention needed to keep it alight. i recommend it as a all day smoke out of the pouch during a short break and a little pipe or maybe a pocket pipe.

I smoked this tobacco while spending some time in Ireland a few years ago, with a new Peterson bulldog to break in. I'd bought the pipe and the baccy from the Peterson shop in Dublin - lovely chaps in there I must say! I smoked the pipe and the baccy on days out on my motorbike exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, a winding coastal road. Terrific fun on the bike, and breaks for a pipe to enjoy the peace and solitude along the way were a necessary antidote to the adrenaline which proceeds from tearing along twisty country lanes on a 500cc parallel twin...

I'm guessing the tobacco is named after the road, and in my mind it is, because it suits it well. I agree it has a subtle salty tang, there's a depth of woody earthy flavours, mossy, autumn leafy tones, and some woodsmoke from the latakia. This for me is the holy trinity for an English mixture: Virginia, Oriental and Latakia. This one sits a small notch above Dunhill Early Morning Pipe, good at any time of the day, not overwhelming, but not unduly mild. It's not a Latakia bomb, ignore that part of the description. But it is very pleasant.

This is a pretty simple, but very tasty latakia blend.

I'm mostly an aromatic smoker, however I enjoy a good latakia from time to time. This one is definitely worth recommending. What is interesting about Wild Atlantic is that it's actually pretty mild for a latakia blend, so it shouldn't be too harsh for people who don't like an overwhelmingly smoky flavour. It offers a pretty good nicotine kick which is something one might like or dislike, however. Packs and smokes easily and requires little relighting. The room note is strong but intriguing in a vintage sort of way.

A good way to get into stronger latakia blends, as well as a very pleasurable smoking experience.
