Tsuge Premium Pipe Tobacco The Mystery of Autumn

(2.89)
The Mystery of Autumn is a bite free, all day pipe tobacco that marries nutty burley with slow steamed black cavendish and tops it off with a slightly sweet vanilla flavoring for an outstanding aromatic smoke that also offers up a bit of chocolatey flavor from the black cavendish. Autumn night striking and making it crumble our small talk. - Matsuo Basho (1644 – 1694).
Notes: "The Four Seasons" is a line of aromatic blends that are meant to capture the essence of the four distinct seasons in Japan. They were announced at 2014 IPCPR, and released in late 2014.

Wow -- there is a lot going on here and it is all good. The first time I smoked this was fresh out of the newly opened tin. As has been mentioned elsewhere, this blend is quite moist in the tin. However, after the initial charring light I only had to relight my pipe once. During subsequent smokes I let the tobacco dry for an hour and I required no relights at all, and it had no effect on the flavor profile. The natural sweetness and flavors of the cavendish shine through very nicely, but they are pleasantly intermingled with a dusky fruitiness and an occasional floral note. Upon exhaling I detected what seemed to be a very faint flavor of maple syrup, but it was extremely light and I will confess that my mind may have been playing tricks on me since I associate maple syrup with autumn. In any event, this is one of the most pleasant tobaccos I have ever smoked and had this been available when I first started smoking pipes I probably would have become a dedicated fan of aromatics. The tobacco provides a long-lasting smoke and remains cool from start to finish -- absolutely no tongue bite.

Very pleasant, toasty and savory yet absolutely no bite (although the pipe (( see below)) I use is a Brigham with the distilator insert) . If you could smoke a mincemeat pie flavored tobacco. Lots of dried fruit in the tin. Very wet (like a heavy aromatic) in the freshly opened tin so let it sit for a day or so if that's an issue.

In a word, this tobacco is fantastic. With initial notes of cream soda, it gently moves to that of dried fruit. A supurb offering from Tsuge and well worth your time to smoke.

So smooth with a stunning room note. Beautiful packaging and in the pipe! The tobacco burns evenly and is a perfect texture. After the first tamp and relight it burned easily all the way through. The fruit notes come through with a soft vanilla taste. No bite at the end. I am loving this.
