If Pipestud gives a blend his approval I usually bow three times in the general direction of The Alamo, suck down a Shiner Bock and put Willie Nelson on the stereo.

With this blend I glance in the general direction of Dublin, cross myself with Jameson whisky, drink the whisky and sing Amhrán na bhFiann. This results in quiet solitude in the lair.

Well made tobacco with great raw materials. Good nicotine hit...maybe that put the salt and pepper hue in my chest hair(?), but I doubt it.

The burley component just didn't thrill me, but I can see why burley fans would love this one. It smokes cleanly and with no bite or moisture. I will keep this around for St. Patrick's Day.

After smoking University Flake for many years, another Peterson offering, I recognized the aroma instantly upon opening this tin. This blend lacks the raspberry-like topping on the UF. This seems like a ready rubbed version of UF without the fruity topping and in its place something else I can't identify, its just that simple. And to my nose and palate there is no whiskey on this weed. This was sort of wet out of the tin so it needs some drying time to smoke well...and though it produces a nice volume of smoke I really don't care for this blend. Lastly, this was pretty expensive at my local shop...12 bucks.

This was one of the most heavely cased bklends that I have smoked...too bad, the bakkie looked of very high quality!

The bakkie was of the ready rubbed form, rather dark brown in general, but the tin aroma of the whiskey casing was overwhelming...

And when I lit it up, it just became as bad while I was smoking it; as for every other overcased bakkies, my tongue and taste buds were harassed, to make the whole experience a sad one...

Like I said, too bad, the bakkie was high quality...I don't think I will want to try it again.

I came upon a tin of Irish Whiskey recently when a local tobacconist decided to close his store to pursue other...pursuits?

At any rate, he closed, and my employer and I decided to stock up on tins. I recived 2 tins of Irish Oak, one Whiskey and one Deluxe. Oak has been a favorite of mine for a while now, and I anticipated the new whiskey flavor.

Smelled nice in the tin. Char was pleasant. Burned nicely, but nare a hint of whiskey. Toward the end of the bowl, however, things began to turn bitter, and, in my opinion, a bit unpleasant. Similar, at least to me, to the overly harsh taste of university flake at the end of the bowl. However, a strong spirit flavor was had.

This will make me NO friends, but my taste is subjective. It was not Irish Whiskey I tasted, but the distinct aftertaste of Islay Scotch?!?!? Although chokingly strong for me, the unique flavor makes the experience worthwhile.

A side note: I have been going soft and smoking more sappy, sticky aromatics lately as a complete change of pace from nightcap and some strong balkan broken flake, so this might seem less strong when smoked alongside my normal stash.

I would keep this around for the occasional diversion. Just not a daily like Oak would be could I afford a daily supply.

This tobacco is a decent enough all-rouder. Not too heavy on the flavouring, packs OK and burns reasonably well, although it did give off enough heat to make the pipe (£75 in price) a bit too hot for my liking.

Having said that, I live in Ireland and am a fairly avid fan of Irish Whiskies (much nicer than Scotch blends in my view), and I detected no taste of whiskey here at all.

If a tobacco company could develop a "Bushmills Blend" that tasted like the real stuff, I would buy it in bulk! This unfortunately missed the spot.

I usually don't like aromatics, but this one is top quality. You can detect the real taste of the tobaccos under the scent, it burns cool (a nice proportion of burley helps) and the flavour stays there to the end. Said that, I haven't been drinking whisky for quite a while now, but I still can remember it's a different world from this. And I used to like it better into a glass.

A rich VA blend, supposedly enhanced with Irish whiskey. However it's more like the aftertaste of the spirit, that sensation on the palate and roof of the mouth. Mellow nutty tones accompany the traditionally reasonable quality of Peterson's leaf... good consistent but nothing extraordinary.

Packs and lights fairly easily but requires some light rubbing out before packing on occasions. Fair room note, wouldn't offend non-smokers, but not one you'd actively seek out.

Unfortunately nothing special so unlikely to become a regular.

Irish Whiskey has a good tobacco taste with the Irish Whiskey in the background. Quite pleasant and very lightly sweet if smoked slowly. If you pick up the puffing rate the whiskey taste disappears and leaves you with a strong tobacco taste. Not a bad taste and it never bit my tongue even when puffed hard. It obviously has a good nicotine punch when smoked agressively, it gave me the hiccups a couple of times when I smoked this while mowing the yard. So for me this is a smoke for leisurely moments. I can smoke it all day, and have, if I keep the puffing rate down. As for my recommendation, I'll probably buy another tin sometime in the future.

This blend is somewhat sort of an enigma to me. I have a love / hate relationship with it. There are times i've smoked this and thought it very good and there are times i've smoked this and didn't finish the bowl. The nicotine content is medium to strong and the flavor is not bad . I find this kind of monochromatic and this may appeal to some who like blends in this way. Sometimes this feel harsh in my mouth and other times it does not, even with slow relaxed puffing. For those who expect more of the whiskey flavor in the blend because of its name, you may be dissapointed. I only detected a hint of whiskey flavor which I prefer that way considering I usually dont like strong flavorings in the blends I smoke.

While I will probably not purchase another tin of this, I can't say the experience of this blend was bad. Upon opening the tin, you are met by a dark and medium light leaf. The tin aroma does not give any hint of wiskey, at least to me.Upon lightng, you get a floral aroma, probably from the Thai burley. This settles down after about three re-lights to a "different" peat moss sort of flavor. Towards the end of the bowl, the flavor intensifies, but not to an extreme level. I did not get a nicotine kick like many warned me I would (I am very sensitive to the stuff). After about 3/4 of a tin, I just can not find myself attracted to the flavor very much. I'll stick to "Old Dublin". Sorry....
