I would rate this at the highest mark if the playing field were leveled to include only English blends. I do not prefer English blends, but occasionally get struck by a mood for one. When the mood strikes this is my standby. There are some complexities you will pick up on even as a novice to English blends (but enough for the seasoned English smoker as well), and latakia burns coolest of all tobaccos, so all combined this is an overall pleasurable experience. My local tobacconist says this isn't a blend for married folk, as wives often despise the smell of latakia.

While others suggest this as a first English, it was, as it so happened, my first English, obtained in bulk. It was well loved through many bowls until overtaken by the stronger, more latakia- laden blends. Good for its purpose, there is no going back, so be warned before picking up the 965 or the Nightcap.

English luxury by Peter Stokkebye is one of those stumbled-upon treasures. Just yesterday, I took a trip to the smoke shop and perchased a medico pipe. I just had to buy some tobaccos. One of these was English luxury. The store owner said that this blend was one of her highest selling tobaccos. When I got home, I started working on Calculus problems and smoking this English luxury. I noticed something unsusual about this blend. It had a smokey aroma to it which reminded me of going through the Sweat lodge ceremony with my uncle (who is now the chief or tribal chairman of the Potowatomi). For my Native American family members, pipe tobacco is a very important aspect of thier lives. Most of the tobaccos I am familiar with are the aromatics found in grocery stores. Compared to English luxery, none of those blends compare to this favored blend. It leaves a very pleasant room note. The taste is stonger than any tobacco I have tried. Out of all of the blends I've tried I would recommend this blend to anyone who needs an enjoyable smoke. I have found my holy grail!

This is one of my favorite English blends to come to. It burns great, tastes great, and smells quite alright. It doesn't have anything special about it going on, but that's what you want out of a high-quality English blend. It's something I would smoke everyday if I could afford myself the time to.
UPDATE: After trying more English blends, it is sad to say but I must drop this review from four to three stars. It is still great and definitely a high three.

I only have had a sample of this. I would call it a light English. Not a lot of flavor to it.Retrohale is as exciting as a mouse fart. Burns easily. Smokes easily.Honestly it was a fairly boring experience. I guess if you wanted to try an English for the first timeI could recommend it but try it out in a small amount first. Too many fantastic English’s out there to put much stock in this one.

I remember this tobacco being better when fresh. I left about an ounce sitting in the cellar (a ball jar) for about a year and it aged horribly. Tastes like dust. I assume this is because of the burley/cavendish. I thought the Virginias would have aged the blend, but I could not detect them at all. The latakia was nonexistent. I remember liking this blend quite a lot at one point, so I would take this more as a caution against aging, rather than a real critique.

Peter Stokkebye - English Luxury (No.17).
The initial smell from the pouch suggests a casing/topping of some kind, vanilla seems the most probable suspect. It contains a higher proportion of lighter pieces in comparison to black ones: about a 65-35% split, roughly. The moistness was good when received.
If you're looking for a Lat-Bomb look elsewhere. A Lat-Bomb this is not, but it's quite a well rounded smoke. The Black Cavendish is at just the right weight to give a flavour, without making it seem like a sticky, gloopy, mess. To me the Latakia has an edge on the others, but that doesn't make it a bomb. The Lat' has a woody-smokiness, but is very well supported by the rest. The Burley seems to have been added in a larger amount compared to the Virginia: this is further down the pecking order. In the smoke, like I noted from the pouch-note, there's a sort of vanilla/custard flavour; it doesn't taste steadfastly aromatic, but is notable nevertheless. It's reliable with the burn, but unless taken carefully it can go too fast. Another problem's tongue bite, again, if I'm not careful it can nip.
Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: doesn't smell to bad but it fills the room with smoke.
English Luxury? I like the flavour so II'll be generous and forget the bite! Three stars:
Somewhat recommended.

I highly enjoyed this blend! Everything about this English blend came in perfect! The Latakia did not over power the sweet taste of the virginias and cavendish. And yet was still very present. Will be a blend I go and get a whole lot more of to stock away.i have a feeling this will be even better with a few years under it's belt

A Fantastic tobacco. Slightly sweet, but medium bodied. A good Latakia aroma without being overbearing. Perfect for someone who is new to English style blends.

Another winner in the Peter Stokkebye blends. This is an unusual English. Not overpowering like most English blends. No Latakia over-kill at all. I even detect a faint citrus taste. I would almost classify this as an Aromatic English. There's something sweet in the first light, but not overly so. Of most of the English blends I've smoked, this one would have to be in my top five.
