Missouri Meerschaum Missouri Pride
(3.09)
Missouri Pride is the kind of blend that most pipe enthusiasts would associate with the Missouri Meerschaum corn cob experience. This is a blend of superb quality burleys with some Virginias added, and minimal top flavoring. The blend is made up of broken flake, with some ribbon cut burley, for a nice, even burn, and the flake processing adds a deeper flavor to the tobacco. For a smooth blend with real tobacco flavor you can enjoy all day long, try a pouch of Missouri Pride.

Just a perfect higher quality version of an American OTC burley blend. Not goopy as the usual Lane pouch (still more humectant than I would prefer, but it is acceptable). In fact it's the first Lane product I have smoked in years because I generally despise their offerings. But the pedigree of this blend made me try it, and it is good. Mild, can be puffed mindlessly and enjoyed as a simple bowl of tobacco. Not very complex but not flat, it can sustain attention if you want to look for nuance. Slight topping of IMHO cocoa and classic OTC anise/licorice. The cocoa is a great highlight for the dark burley, and the anise for the light. Rarely noticeable, they pop up as a nuance. Can be an all day smoke. Just enough nicotine to be worth smoking (though lovers of Lakeland plugs may need a second bowl) but not so much than you can't just keep smoking it if you choose. Won't wow you, but won't disappoint except with the wet dottle issue (which fades as it dries more, ever so slowly). Really this burning and humectant thing is the only flaw.
Update: a subsequent pouch was less moist and burned to fine gray ash. Well done!

My pouch came extremely dry and crispy . There is plastic surrounding the pouch but the pouch was just folded over with no seal ! What little bit of glue holding it must have broken loose . It hydrated just fine with distilled water which I did with half the pouch . I’ll get to the other half in a bit . Mm Pride is a straight forward burley blend OTC type with very little casing ( probably cocoa and alcohol ) and a little Virginia to compliment the burleys . Think Carter Hall with less casing . I enjoy the nutty earthy flavor of Burleys a lot these days . Haunted Bookshop is the blend that gave me the love of natural burley flavor . I am enjoying this one just fine . In line with CH as a 3 star blend . What you light up with is what you finish with . Now the other half of the pouch i rehydrated with cocoa extract and after smoking it I don’t think I could tell in a blind taste test it from Carter Hall . Don’t know if I would buy again because of the pouch problem but it is a good blend , a little better than your OTC blends with too much casings and pg and all . 3 stars

This is a pleasant Virginia/Burley blend. The only reason I am not giving a full 4 stars is that it is a little mild for my taste. On opening, I smelled a fruity chocolate aroma reminiscent of Fig Newtons. The smoke, while simple, is enjoyable. The nutty goodness of the Burley is present and is backed up, but not overpowered, by the sweetness from the Virginia. My only wish is that it were a little fuller. If there is a casing, my palate isn't refined enough to pick it out. The nicotine hit is not strong but appreciable, and normally kicks in towards the end of the bowl. Over all, a thoroughly enjoyable smoke.
Note, some reviews have mentioned that the tobacco arrived dry. Although tastes in saturation vary, I can report that mine arrived with the perfect level of moisture. Also, unlike the experiences of others, my pouch was sealed inside a plastic bag.
