McB is one of the brands you can find almost anywhere here i Sweden, but IMW that doesn't make it a quality brand (one other brand is Borkum Riff...). I don't know if I just had bad luck but the pouch I bought did not live up to my demand of quality. Dry, tasteless, lack of aroma and with a cruel tongue bite.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy a good tasting Danish type tobacco and who don't mind severe tongue bite. All other should seek elsewhere.

It is a MacBaren tobacco product. Hot, harsh, and vanilla like.

Having read previous reviews before trying this blend, I followed suggestion, barely rubbing it, and packing the bowl lightly. It had a very pleasant aroma prior to lighting, and actually lit just as nicely. The first couple puffs produced an enjoyable flavor. Unfortunetly that is where my praise for this weed ends. Being forwarned that it tended to burn rather hot, I smoked it very gently, and still received a slight scorch to the tongue. What was amazing about this smoke, was the fact my pipe actually became to hot to handle, beofre my tongue was completely burnt. I was not even able to finish 3/4's of the bowl before writing this off as a blend for the saintly patient. I enjoy savoring a pipe as much as the next guy, but as people before me have said... this blend isn't worth the delayed gratification. On the upside, I only tried this as a sample provided with an order for several english blends that I will be running back to later this evening. One star.

I began smoking Mac Baren Mixture after trying it at a tasting. After smoking nearly half a bowlful I was eager to purchase a tin. I brought the tin home and let it sit for nearly a month. I couldn't wait to smoke this tobacco. After opening the tin, loading up, and then smoking half the bowl my tongue was on fire. Being a novice smoker I decided that I had done something wrong and that was the cause of my fried tongue. Every so often I give it a try and I get the same result. The tobacco smells great and if I could keep from burning myself I speculate that the taste would be wonderful. Until I find a solution to the fire in my mouth I believe this blend is suspect to oral arson.

This an ok blend but honestly nothing to write home about. It smells like your typical Macbaren blend honey like overtones etc.. It was way too easy to push to burn hot. It tastes ok but, something in this blend maybe the topping just cooked the roof of my mouth. After a bowl of this my mouth felt like I was chewing on fiberglass. I'm sure it works for some people, just not for me.

This mixture suffers from something many other reviewers have hit on, and something that is characteristically "MacBaren" about all of the MacBaren blends - it burns rather hot and has a pretty significant bite to it. It can be controlled with watching how you smoke it, but that really does require more attention than this particular tobacco is worth.

It also has a sweetness to it that is present from the first opening of the tin, and generally remains as you smoke the entire bowl.

All in all, there are better alternatives out there should you wish to endeavor to try "Scottish" mixtures. This one is one you should probably pass on. It's simply not worth it.

Like Many Mac Baren tabaccos it's been well "artificially" treated and it burns so well and hot that you can't do anything but puff it real slowly.

It's got a nice honey taste throughout the bowl, which can get boring after a while.

If you choos it as an all day smoke you'll get bitten unless you have a leather tongue.

This was my first experience with a blend that emphasized virginias as a beginning smoker, and the main attraction (besides the then exotic idea of knowing what the Scots smoked) was that you got twice the tobacco for the money (and still do in many places). Not bad stuff if you are very, very care in the early phase of the smoke till it cools down, and it settles into being a competent, if unspectacular smoke. Smoke it all day and be prepared to put an organ donor tag on your tongue though, it will bite you bigtime if you puff too hard. Not a prime time player, but good enough, and better than few of the virginia blends that cost more that I've tried.
