Excellent! One of the best aromatics I've ever had.
Rivendell is really a benchmark by which to judge all aromatics. It is almost addictively good, meaning I always have to greedily smoke to the very last ember in the bowl! Always burns smoothly no matter how vigorously I puff. Rivendell artfully straddles the line between full aromatic and semi-aromatic, meaning that despite its fulsome flavor there are still some underlying natural tobaccos tastes to appreciate.
Since I don't especially care for berry or fruity flavors in aromatics my positive rating here reflects the fact that Rivendell provides the kinds of flavors that I actually do enjoy: roasted nuts, walnut, dark nougat, mocha, coffee, roasted marshmallow, vanilla bean, scorched brown sugar, caramel, and a dusting of cocoa powder. And underneath all that you can still pick out the natural Burley and Virginia flavors!
Previous to my discovery of Rivendell 4 Noggins' Bald Headed Teacher filled this slot in my rotation, but in direct A-B comparison I find Rivendell to be deeper in flavor and creamier on the palate than BHT. I also prefer Rivendell over the Squire's excellent Indian Outlaw because, again in direct comparison, I enjoy Rivendell's more complex interplay of flavors. Also, if you like nutty flavors, this is much better behaved than Peterson's Nutty Cut.
Rivendell is now part of the so-called Dozen Delights in my permanent rotation.

Absolutely fantastic. Smooth, creamy, biteless. I get mostly coco and nuts. Has tobacco flavor in the mix as well so it still tastes like you are smoking more than candy. My all time favorite aro.

Nutty, chocolate and semi sweet with enough earthiness from the burley and citrus from the Virginias to let you know it is tobacco you are smoking. Another excellent blend from The Country Squire. Not overly strong, won’t bite or become goopy. Overall well behaved in the bowl. Tin note and taste are spot on as well. Room note of this one will bring compliments as well. Will definitely keep this on hand here at the creek!

Yes it is all that. Very complex. Wood, Cocoa Nutty, Almonds, Pecan. Best tobacco I have had. Performs very nice, on moisture, no tongue bite, relits. The only drawback is to me it’s not a summer blend, but perfect for Autumn, Winter and Spring

A slightly sweet smoke based on mild white burley, Virginia, and black cavendish in similar proportions to many other aromatics. Not much tobacco taste, but a bit of nuttiness from the burleys and black cavendish brown sugar sweetness peeks through. The room note is agreeable and it did not bite or have chemical notes. A pleasant, rather bland smoke.

A very tasty blend, I get a chocolate (like a semi sweet chip) and walnut flavor from this tobacco. More walnut than chocolate if I had to rank it. It’s got that slightly sticky feel from the bag some aromatics have, but it burns great. Burns clean too, I get through the bowl with little dottle. Stays lit easily and is mild on my tongue and mild in strength. The room note is quite nice, Ms. Wiz comments on it each time I have a bowl. This is the third Country Squire blend I’ve had, and I’m impressed.

This tobacco is very good. Let me start with that. The chocolatey, walnut flavor plays well with the tobaccos used to form the blend. It burns really nicely all the way to the bottom without gurgling or biting. I find a hint of chemical taste that is slightly off-putting and lingers on the aftertaste. I get a craving for this every once in a while but their Cherokee blend scratches the itch a bit better, in my opinion. This review sounds a bit negative, but I still recommend this blend highly. The Country Squire strikes again.
Update: I believe the chemical taste I was detecting was the glue in my cob. I recently smoked this blend again and got none. 4 stars all the way.

I've had more than half a year with the TCS Middle Earth blends in my regular rotation, and my overall impression is that these blends are a lot lighter than the blending bill and jar note would have you believe. The base tobacco is high quality, The blends are soft and approachable.
I have found that TCS blends like a lot of heat, and this one is no exception. When I tried to "sip" Rivendell, I got some creamy smoke and not much else. A little bit of heat got the cocoa to come through. When a puff hit right, this blend reminded me of LL-7, but I think LL-7 is better.
There's not much really going on to capture my attention. Old Toby is good and Second Breakfast is fantastic. I'll probably keep Second Breakfast, Green Dragon, and Bag End in my cellar. I'm glad I tried this, but I'll probably offload it soon and I won't re-up.

I have to admit I did not care for this blend. I am not sure what went wrong, as I usually love all the house blends from Country Squire, but this one did not work for me.
I was not picking up on the Cocoa flavors. Seemed kind of bland and tasteless. It would not stay lit. Very light smoke. I was not impressed. Not sure if I got a bad batch of what, but was not a fan of this one.

Man do I wish I could shake the hand of the blenders at the Country Squire - this tobacco is fantastic. As far as aromatics go, this is the cream of the crop, best I've ever smoked, want to stock up so I never run out. The tin note is definitely chocolatey and nutty, but you still get the nice raisin-y sweetness of the virginias. The blend feels like an aromatic, slightly sticky between your fingers, but wow does it smoke well.
Smokes remarkably dry, doesn't require a significant amount of relights, and smokes down to the bottom of the bowl without leaving much goop behind. I find it as easy to smoke clenched while working on some outdoor chores as I did sipping it with my feet up on a settle after the day's work is done.
The flavor is wonderful, it mirrors the tin note well with a rich nutty, chocolateyness, never cloying, but melding together in a sweet but deep and nuanced swirl of flavors that certainly puts me in mind of Middle Earth. Wonderfully, the topping doesn't overwhelm the natural tobacco flavors in the blend either like many aromatics (Autumn Evening for example - great flavor from the topping, minimal tobacco flavor). I personally don't think you're going to be picking out individual notes from the Virginias, cavendish, burleys, etc., but you're generally going to enjoy nice natural tobacco flavor wonderfully wrapped in the top notes.
The room note is wonderful - my wife pretty much doesn't like the smell of any of my natural tobaccos but she loves the smell of this one in the air and on my sweater after I've finished the bowl, and that hardly ever happens even with other aromatics. You'll make friends smoking this one amongst company. If you like aromatics or want a tobacco that provides pleasure for you AND those around you, this is the one.
