Vauen Auenland - The Shire
(2.62)
Virginia tobacco of different shades and cutting widths, delicately rounded off with ripe, dark Cavendish and a hint of Burley. Fruit aromas of juicy oranges and sweet peaches give this mixture its delicious taste. An extremely gentle, excellent mixture with perfect burn.

I was visiting a smokers' round table at my local tobacoonist's shop. They had a tin of this open for trying, and an acquaintance of mine recommended the blend, so I decided to give it a try. I am personally a big fan of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, but would never have bought this tobacco on that basis. Let's not judge those who might try this for that reason, though, since the popularity of the motion pictures has led to a small renaissance of pipe smoking! Auenland - The Shire is a typical aromatic blend. It is ribbon cut with a nice mix of colors - black, brown, red, and tan. The tin note is pleasantly sweet. I didn't pick up on the peach (see other reviews here), but did detect a slight hint of coconut and citrus. The moisture content was a bit on the dry side, but then I have no idea how long ago this tin had been opened. The tobacco packs well, only needing a charring light and a second match. It burns nice and cool, with no danger of tongue-bite. The smoke is of medium body, with a pleasantly sweet taste for the smoker. I think the flavouring is just right for an aromatic. The room note is very nice and certain to please non-pipe-smokers. I think that this would be a good fit for novice pipe smokers, and it is a nice smoke for lovers of aromatics. If you love English blends, then this is not for you!

I was gifted an ounce of this from a friend and I am very impressed. It smells deliciously of peaches and cream and the moisture was perfect, requiring no drying time. Once lit I tasted mostly vanilla cream with a nice light peach undertone, akin to a slice of cheesecake with a couple of slices of peach on top. Not much tobacco flavor unfortunately, as that would have given this a fourth star, but very tasty anyway. Auenland is a delightful blend for a dessert bowl in the evening and would also be very well received in mixed company as the room note is very pleasant.

To me this is an after dinner Tobacco. I'm tired and lazy and i wanna smoke something that doesn't actually taste like tobacco.
The tin note was a bit too much for me, it's very topped and sauced too. Not a bad smell, just too much, like a person wearing too much perfume.
In the pipe though it's like a sweet dessert. Today i was actually thinking it tastes like a bread with jam. Good job Vauen. That's something Bilbo would have liked. Since he's a hobbit and all. They like to eat always.
If you like aromatics this might be for you. It's not too fruity, but the peach is detectable. Like most aromatics, a little drying will tame it to your delight.

Probably shouldn't review this, since I understand it to be a limited edition, meaning you probably can't find it. I bought it on ebay for a few bucks. I smoke few real aromatics and when I do they tend to be more in the vanilla or chocolate vein. In fact, I avoid fruity stuff as a rule.
Auenland is orange and peach, both of which I love. But do they work together in a tobacco blend? Actually, yes, pretty well--if you like this sort of aromatic. Mine was probably a year or two old, maybe older, and very mellow. Packed, lit and stayed lit just fine. Smoked down to a nice gray ash. The room note is nice, very nice, and you will likely get no complaints. Put this in a cob for the sweetest, cleanest smoke. Take your time; this one don't like to be pushed.
Not a nic bomb, but that is not its purpose. Solid three stars. More tobacco flavor would have pushed it up to four stars.

Just started pipe smoking. Was advised to try this tobacco as a first. Took me a couple of bowls to see how it smoked best. In the beginning I smoked it to fast and then it tasted like ash.. very unpleasant! I feel if its smoked too hot this stuff just tastes nasty. After a week with it now I feel Ive sussed it out. Has a great taste when smoked cool. And a lovely room note. get allot of compliments when out and about. Tobacco was a bit to wett when first opened, so it kept going out. Now its perfect and only have to relight once. I think this is a great starter Tobacco! Really looking forward to try new ones!

Nice presentation and intense aromas at the opening of the tin. Very pleasant smoke with aromatic and creamy flavors, but not invasive. The smell in the room was very nice. For a morning or relaxed smoke, it can work very well.

Mostly crystallized red Virginia and Burley with a touch of black Cavendish portraits a fine figure of aroma especially by hints of mango, citrus and apricot jam. Tangy flavor textures a mild frutiness and remains sweet in mouth. It's easy to load and gets consumed with less return to your lighter. Good for outdoor gaiety and walking through hills. It remains in some fine ash and burns to grey. Overheating the barrel is up to the pace and should be controlled.

Starting with the strong tin aroma, which by the way is fantastic, peaches, vanilla, cream and orange are clearly evident here.
The nice thing with this one is that not much is lost in translation, it actually tastes a lot like it smells. Feels like smoking candy basically, which might be something for the rare female puffers. For me personally, I might store another tin and smoke it on occasion as a change of pace or to kill a sweet craving.
Recommended! also for the ladies^^
