Villiger After Dinner
(3.65)
Mature flue cured Virginias and aromatic burley spiced with Louisiana perique for a rich tobacco experience. The blend has a smooth, complex tobacco taste with an aroma associated with traditional Baii/ Dutch tobaccos.

A very cool and slow burning flake with zero tongue-bite. I honestly don't have much experience with flakes at all, but I would defiantly recommend this one. I just had a bowl in a very modestly sized meerschaum, and it gave me a flavorful, satisfying smoke, lasting for more than an hour. I rubbed it almost completely out, but will try different rubbing methods in the future. (just for the sake of experience, it smoked wonderfully fully rubbed-out)

Nicely prepared, mixed yellow to dark brown flakes ~ 1.75x2.5x1/16" with an ideal moisture content and grassy tin aroma. I didn't rub out thid blend just as I typically do with such pliable flakes like this and packing was quite easy and uniform. Smoked cool and without condensation or bite in various bowl sizes. Didn't get much of the Perique influence even towards the end of the bowl but the naturally sweet taste was enjoyable. I enjoyed this more than PS Luxury Twist Flake that I purchase in bulk but found it similar and don't know that the added expense is worth it. If you enjoy Va/Per flakes give this a try.

#3 of 4 small samples from an internet friend. These thoughts are based on 3 bowls, so take it for what it's worth. I'm of the opinion that reliability for the reviews of others is dicey at best and when the "review" is based on such a small sample, it's pretty pointless. But these are my thoughts....
I enjoyed this VaBurPer, as all three components took their turns at leading, riding shotgun or following. The Virginias had a slight spice to go with their usual flare and usually led, the burley had a nice hint of sweet nut and seemed to hold it all together and the perique was of the soft dark fruit variety with not much spice and no pepper. The three tobaccos sparred in a friendly way and this tobacco would have been much the worse for wear if even one of them were absent. It smelled sweeter than it tasted and when I took my first whiff out of the bag, I thought it was going to be just another Stokkebye sugary VaPer. Wrong! This is called After Dinner but it was a great late morning smoke for me. I'd love to get more but it seems this one is out of production. Too bad. Not a complete bell-ringer, but this one has a unique spot amidst all the "me too" blends out there. Nicely done, Stokkebye! This struck me as the Crosby, Stills and Nash of blends. Harmonious and holding something new to keep repeated smokes interesting. 3.5 stars.

This is the first Perique I've ever smoked, and I'm pleasantly surprised. The mixture between the Virginias, Periques, and Burleys give it a full taste with zero tongue bite whatsoever. This is a tobacco that gets better as the bowl burns down.

It is a shame that these are no longer available. They were very high quality at a reasonable price. The After Dinner is a high quality VAPER flake that offers a great deal of flavor and complexity for an almost ridiculous (in its day) low price.
The flake itself is a rich virginia and burley flake peppered with perique. It rubs out easily and dries readily, being ready to pack after 10 minutes or so. The flavor is sweet, rich, and delicious upon first light, and stays complex and delicious throughout the bowl. When properly dried it light readily and burns smoothly with little effort to keep it lit. The flavor is rich and deep, with sweet virginia flavors and a peppery topnote. The burley is not overwhelming, but rounds out the flavor and contributes to the fine burn characteristics. My tin is at least five years old, I an expect that it in general this benefits from a fair bit of aging. My memory from before is that it was sharper and less complex. Now, after several years of aging it is well rounded and smooth, an very sweet and flavorful.
There are similar VAPERS which are still made. If you are patient and let your tins age for several years you will receive something special in return. This one unfortunately may be lost to the ages. If you have a chance and can find an old tin here or there purchase it and enjoy a fine and special blend.

Nice unbroken flakes, compare to Wessex Brigade Campaign Flake. Smooth, no bite, smokes dry.

Summary: tasty honey-infused Va/Per that is not too sweet and conditions the Perique into more of a citrus than fleshy fruit taste.
This blend never got the respect it deserved. Open the tin and you will find a neat stack of perfect flakes which have the fermented smell of Perique and a vinegar/honey scent of Virginia. Fold, twist, spike, and roll into your bowl and the first light reveals a wonderful white bread toast flavor with the faintest hints of citrus and honey. As the bowl burns down, the Virginias caramelize and the honey-citrus flavor takes over with an overtone like molasses. While this blend is arguably better than some of the blends from large tobacco firms of a similar nature, it was also sold in tins at higher prices than those bulk orders could do, so people saw no reason to leap to it. It also, by not being as sweet as either the breakfast cereal Va/Pers like "Golden Sliced" or the sugar-frosted hay Va/Pers like "Escudo," limited its own audience. It is fantastic mixed 55-45% with "Cube Cut Burley," which is pretty much how I consume Va/Pers at this point to reduce sugars; the Bur/Va/Per (a better term than "vaburper") is pretty much the apex of this genre.
