Warning: my tin shows that Dunhill - London Mixture is produced in Denmark rather than the UK. For your guys know and I don't wanna edit the tobacco profiles anymore.
UPDATE 2017-4-11 After stored in Mason jar for 20 days, it tastes deeper and tastier, but still, lacks the complexity.
Tin notes: woody, earthy, smoky
Cut: the classic Dunhill ribbon cut; easy to pack.
Strength and Nicotine level: medium; medium.
Taste and balance: the Virginia and Turkish play an impressive symphony; a little bit sweet; the latakia is hidden in the background. Aftertaste has a pleasant bitterness. Second half bowl starts muddling like Early Morning Pipe.
It is less balanced than Standard Mixture.
Time: a good option for light Night tobacco and nearly an everyday smoke.
Stars: enjoy + never buy → two and a half stars
Other reviews: agree with SteelCowboy and Gentleman Zombie
SteelCowboy: The scent of the Murray's is sweet and smoky, while the new Orlik, without the aged Virginia's, is just plain smoky.
Gentleman Zombie: This one is all about the Turkish. You won't find balance here and, for a change
original 2017-03-22
The tin note is smokey, woody sweet and lightly earthy. It is easily smokable but flat, dull, unexciting. It is a balanced "standard" English mixture and may not be a bad one, but pretty like an obsequious employee, boring and apathetic.
Two stars.

So after 32 years of smoking a pipe I finally purchased my first tin of Dunhill's famous "London Mixture".
Described as "Medium cut, matured Virginian and Oriental Tobaccos. Soft and mellow flavor". The blend smokes relatively cool and burns down to a fine ash with no dottle. The pipe is left clean with no sticky wet residue
So far I am ten bowls into the tin and I have been enjoying each one more and more. This is a blend that definitely requires a steeper learning curve than many other blends. The complexity of the orientals playing off the virginias against the background of latakia provides a smoking experience that takes many bowls to discover all of the various nuances of flavor it can provide. This is not a beginners blend by any means, but the seasoned pipe smoker will find many delightful adventures in this classic mixture.

A classic English mixture, with Orientals in the leading role complemented with rich Virginias and Latakia. In fact, it's so classic and so well balanced that it lacks the character I like to find in a tobacco. Anyway, London Mixture is a must try for any serious pipe smoker.

I was able to smoke a tin of Dunhill London Mixture before all the Dunhill blends went out of market. To me the London Mixture is a very well refined English Mixture, with a great balance between all the components. Nice Virginias, very good Orientals, the right amount of Latakia. The interplay between the actors involved is great and gives you a great smoke.

Last month pipesandcigars.com was having a Dunhill tin sale for seven bucks a tin so I bought some more different ones I have not tried yet to add to my cellar since production is to be discontinued. I have smoked about six bowls of this today and find the tin aroma to be mildly sweet with a slight sour smell. The tin says this is a medium cut and was packed in the tin hard as a brick which at least makes you feel you are getting your money’s worth. I scrapped some off the top and loaded it into my pipe. This starts out smoking sweet with a little tartness toward the end which is nice. To me the Latakia was definitely in the background with the Orientals taking the front row. No bite, smooth and nicotine not noticeable but I do not smoke a pipe for that and it is irrelevant to me. I enjoyed it and am glad I bought some for later. A solid 3 stars for me.

If you wonder how would taste pipe tobacco from XIX century, then you should try it. Toned, elegant, stylish oriental with an old soul. One of unnumerous pipe tobaccos nowadays that can take you back to the past and let you feel how pipe tasted in victorian era. Much better than Standard Mixtures. High quality of components ensures you that it will be a wonderfull breaktime. Next to Nightcap it's one of few representative tobaccos from Dunhill.
Although they are somehow nearby each other, I wouldn't say that this Dunhill is similiar to Samuel & Gawith Skiff Mixture - London Mixture is much much better, few levels higher.

As a new comer to pipe smoking I had tried nightcap as my first try to my preferrence of an english blend. A great smoke but I knew that it would not be my go to as an all day smoke soi tried this one next. As usual the packaging was great, and on opening the tin I thought I was in a horse stable.
It lights as well as another Dunhill. I did not need to relight at any time. Soon an amazing experience hit me. Like a so smooth buttery English smoke hit me immediately. I could get the oriental straight off but it was so balanced. I have to give it a great score. It took a char straight off, and tha flavour deserves the brand. Heaven was a place on earth. If you want and English experience smoke it. I am new to pipe smoking so take it with a pinch of salt if you will. The pipe did not get hot at any time. The flavour was English all the way. Vitamin n was medium. I think you should add it to your rotation. I will smoke this frequently.

Ah, this is more like it! I had considered 965 to be the perfect medium English, right up until I loaded this veritable weed into my pipe. Good stuff, Mr. Alfred, sir! There was no cavendish and I didn't miss it one bit. I was too busy appreciating the smooth Virginia, perfect Cyprian, and tasty Turkish leaves. The turkish is more of an afterthought here, as opposed to Apertif where they play center stage. In fact this is certainly an ensemble production if there ever was one. Nothing really sticks out and instead is seemlessly brought together in an English standing ovation. Bravo!!!!!

This blend is sweet, spicy and velvety smooth. I find the Virginias to be most noticeable, with spicy hints from the Orientals and a bit of character from the Latakia, which sits squarely in the background although does add a slight bitter hint to the blend at times (the only downside, as I dislike most latakias--though much lighter on the latakia than some blends). This is a very rich, complex and tasty blend that is not at all overpowering. The further down the bowl you get, the more the flavors blend. I would say that this blend is just as rich as Durbar, but much more polite.
If you want a natural tobacco taste that's smooth but hearty without being dull, and has a light latakia kick, get a tin and check it out.
