I am not a fan of this stuff. I get tongue bite no matter how I smoke this. The flavor is bad and it is just not an enjoyable smoke. I have found a good use of it though. I never smoke a bowl to the complete bottom so this makes for a good toss away buffer between the tobacco I am smoking and the bottom of the bowl. As soon as I near this stuff I am done. Bowl is cleaned and Dunhill trashed.

After reading so many good reviews on this website, I decided to try this stuff myself.. this blend of tobacco left me nothing short of nauseous. It tasted like a stale cigarette, and leaves a smell in the room that smells exactly the same. It is heavy in nicotine, which I do not find pleasing for a morning smoke. or an afternoon smoke... or anytime for that matter.. I don't understand how smokers like this stuff. If you want something that taste like a cigarette, then smoke a cigarette. I couldnt even get half way through a full bowl.. after i write this review, im going outside and dumping it in the grass.. waste of $10.00.. total CRAP..

Dunhill's (Orlick) Early Morning Pipe has the least amount of nicotine of any Dunhill blend that I have smoked. Unfortunately, that fact did not help this pitiful weed. Indeed, the stuff looks fine. It is a pleasant earthy-coloured ribbon cut. It smells unremarkable in the tin--essence of rolling tobacco. I did my best to smoke this stuff but I only found that it made my pipe too hot, my wife retch, my throat sore, and my mouth shrivel. The part about my wife I certainly can get by, but the room note even made me ill. In a word, Early Morning Pipe is dreadful. I could barely smoke this appalling rubbish. A colleague of mine smokes cigarettes and occasionally a pipe. He enjoys Early Morning Pipe. Like I mentioned with Peterson's Irish Oak, this might prove well as a transitional smoke for those looking to make the switch from cigarettes to pipes. Admittedly, by mid-bowl Early Morning Pipe improved slightly by a mellowing of the harshness. Still, I will not smoke it again. Indeed, if I had to begin every morning with this foul weed I would eventually end up jumping off a bridge by afternoon. This is the 100th review of Early Morning Pipe to date.

I am aware that I dont make myself very popular by saying EMP tastes like old sandals, but in my oppinion that is the case. To each his own, and If you like the taste of old sandals, voila, this is the blend for you but if you are like me, one of the few people who like theire tobacco less "shoey" try Elisabethan or Navy Rolls by Dunhill..... I don't like it. really. I bought a tin for 14 Euros and I want that money back... It makes me wonder why this Blend got this popular in the first place.

Not my cup of tea. It is smooth and Somehow sweet though... But it's just too mild for my taste. I prefer something with a little bit more kick to it.

I'm not a fan of this blend, honestly. I had been told this was like the wimpy little brother to Nightcap, but I didn't find this at all. I've had very limited smoking experience outside of pipes and to me this blend just reminded me of the one time I tried camel cigarettes in my early 20s--and that's not a good thing. Very one note, stale flavored. I've heard people say that's not a bad thing and it goes well with coffee. Maybe but still not a fan. I've smoked 4 or 5 bowls so far and it keeps getting pushed farther back in my tobacco collection. I am a relatively new pipe smoker and I'm finding my tastes are changing already. So maybe I'll give this another go someday

In my ongoing quest to trial as many pipe tobaccos that are available to be bought here in Cornwall I picked up three tins of tobacco for me to trial yesterday. One of which was Early Morning Pipe. I had of course heard of the blend and had read many reviews & was intrigued so it was the first of my new purchases to try out.

Popped the (50g) tin open and ruffled up the centre of the baccy and stuck my nose straight in. Immediately I was taken back to when I lived on a farm and fed the cattle silage during wintertime such was the aroma. Now silage to those who are not aware is basically fermented grass so the connection sort of made sense to me as I have recently learned that many tobaccos are also fermented. I used to enjoy feeding the cattle as the smell of silage was a very pleasant one (unless one cut open a 'bad' bale), slightly winey and very sweet smelling. That said I never contemplated smoking the stuff.

I pulled out a pipe and filled the bowl. Very straightforward and done easily due to the ribbon cut. I fired it up and was immediately hit by the taste of BO. I have never tasted BO but the taste was just as the smell.....pretty unpleasant. I persevered with a grimace hoping things might pick up but no, I was still smoking body odour with a hint of grass (the lawn variety, not the hippy stuff). Only towards the end of the bowl did things change slightly for the better but by then it was pretty much too late.

That was yesterday. Today I filled different pipe and tried again......alas the very same experience. I suppose this must be a Marmite tobacco, it obviously has its adherents but I am not one of them so I shall be looking for someone to palm this off. Not one I will be buying again I'm afraid.

This is a boring and rather unpleasant combination of light and sour. At its worst it's harsh and unfulfilling. At its best it's merely bland. I can't envision enjoying this at any time of day.

It tasted okay although the smoke gave off quite the stink. Basically everything about it was a disaster. The price, tin note, room note, taste, strength it was all wrong. Tin note was a more than subtle rubbery or sulfur smell. It had a strong nicotine punch which I'm not used to, I generally smoke mild aromatics. Room note was very strong, any richer and it would be unbearable. It was my first tin of Dunhill brand tobacco. I doubt they'll bring any aromatics back so I may not buy from them in the future. Maybe I'll find what I'm looking for from Mr. b... I realize not everyone shares my opinion. But I can't see how this tobacco tastes like anything. Let alone I can't imagine anyone saying this stuff tastes good-- it smells like manure.
