Davidoff Scottish Mixture
(2.54)
Scottish Mixture’s smooth, flavorful and mild middle-cut blend is enduringly popular. The fresh and delicately flowery aroma comes from select grades of Virginia, burley, Kentucky and a small portion of Oriental tobaccos – refined with a dash of the finest Scotch whisky.

A mild-medium tobacco, good for anyone who enjoys a blend that has a burley nutty note, some grassy flavor from the Virginia (not much) a slight bisquit flavor, and overall a good blend not overwelled my one flavor or another. Cool burning, no tongue bit, and most of all a smoothness from the blend. I like well balanced flavors in this pipe.
The tin notes are wonderful and fresh. A nice job of balancing 4 tobaccos - Virginia, Dark Fired Kentucky, Burley, Orientals.

Prima recensione in assoluto per me.

This bend has taken a down turn in processing and presentation since I tried it last some years ago. It's been simplified as blended ribbon instead of the previous ready-rubbed cake. The subtle flavor is different also. Before, it had a mild cased sweetness with an undertone of something dark-sweet like carob and chocolate otherwise verging on almost bland. Now, it has a very light smell, something along the lines of dried mango. In fact I think it's the same casing used in Peterson's Whiskey but to a far lessor degree. I didn't notice immediately that flavor coming through in the smoke but it creeps back in after a while. The smoke is a bit rough and definitely not as smooth as it once was. I couldn't make out the individual tobacco components; It's just all blended into a bland irrelevancy. This sort of thing concerns me and is a sign of where the industry is headed: Further consolidation and simplifying blends for cost savings that will end up making inferior products. This blend is not utter rubbish and could be salvaged by blending in some other condimental leaf to give it some character but it's just not worth smoking it on it's own.

Edit: a few more bowls down the line, and I think my original one-star review may have been harsh. I am currently categorising this as a subtle smoke. I find myself drawn to it when I fancy a natural, non-invasive, smooth and mild smoke. It is somewhat interesting however, as various components are balancing themselves on my pallet throughout the bowl.
Original review: Does not really taste of much at all. I am new to Oriental ‘dominant’ blends, or otherwise ‘Scottish’ blends, but I cannot distinguish any pleasing note from this. Maybe all of the components are balanced enough to mask each other out. I have a feeling this is common to Oriental blends.

I was gifted this by a good friend some time ago. I kept putting it off for some reason. Now, after trying it, I think that hesitation may have been my survival instincts kicking in.
The flavor, when you can keep this cool, is not bad. Has a little sweet and sour thing going on and a fair amount of earth. The whisky is very mild and taste great. Problem is, I can't keep this cool and it causes the flavors to go all out of whack. If you're one of those who can keep the temp down on this beast you have my undying respect. I'm just gonna have to surrender.
Mild to medium in body. Medium in taste. Flavoring is very mild. Burns like a furnace.

I like Virginia blends and this one is very mild, with a pinch of pepper. When I opened the tin, I noticed the smell of raisins. It packed easily and stayed lit all the way through. There was plenty of smoke and a noticeable hit of nicotine, but not overbearing. This is one of those blends you can light up and forget about as you go about your day: it's there, but doesn't get in the way. However, before you write this one off, the quality of the tobacco, like all Davidoff tobaccos, is outstanding. I recommend you try this mixture just for the subtleness of the flavor and quality of the tobacco.

This is the mild version of the danish mixture, despite that it has orientals as well, but in a mild quantity.. it is pleasant, smokes well, lights well and stays lit, until you puff very hard and don't tamp often. It is a bit mild for my taste, so I prefer the danish mixture to it, but it's a nice all day smoke

I really enjoy my pipe tobaccos that have a bit of spirits topping them so I decided to take a chance and bought a dusty tin from my local B&M. Upon opening one can defiantly tell this was topped with some sort of liquor, had I not known it was whisky I might have guessed rum but in no way was it overpowering. I have smoked enough blends to tell the blend is topped but it is very far from being an aromatic, the usual thin ribbons mixed with chunky Virginia flakes in various browns and black strands, at a perfect moisture to pack right from the tin. This is a tasty mix that reminds me of the best blends from Macbaren, Navy Mixture and Plumcake but without the bite. Not the best of the genre but I really enjoyed smoking a cob in the car on the way to work this week, after work the other half of the bowl made for a nice DGT ride home. Three stars!

Well the best thing I can say about this tobacco is that out of the three tins of Davidoff I purchased, this was the best. The tobacco is high quality and a hint of whiskey is picked up on the tongue. Personally, I buy Peterson Irish Whiskey and it is without a doubt my go to if I want a liquor cased tobacco. Davidoff disappoints yet again, but lives on for reasons unknown to me... Save your money and buy a tin of Peterson, frankly Da
