For the past half year or so I have almost stopped smoking aromatics as English/Balkans/Virginias/Vapers may suit more for me. The Davidoff Green Mixture is one of the first tobaccos I tried and had several bowls and only recently I thought to give it again a try (I did like it from start, just shifted to non-aromatics in the process). So this is a more updated review of the blend (Feb-2023) having been aged perhaps for more than 7-8 months in the jar. The tobacco is very pleasant, mild in terms of strength, it is a moderately aromatic tobacco, i.e., not a blend with overwhelming casings. In his review, “Pipestud” mentions a “somewhat ripe strawberries taste” - I’d say, I experienced something similar, additionally something little creamy and a kind of “honey casing” as some other folk mentioned as well. My more recent bowls are with country gentleman MM using acrylic stem, i.e., non-filtered corn cob pipe. The tobacco can be smoked directly without drying time, even though out of the jar it keeps little moist and juicy, and it burns very cool without any chance of bite. It may need a number of relights, but it has a medium ribbon cut that allows it to burn without too much difficulty. A nice combination of black cavendish with burley and some presence of Virginia. A high-quality tobacco with the signature of Davidoff. Yes, I think for those who are at early stage of pipe smoking, no matter whether you direct yourself to aromatics or non-aromatics, it worth give it a try and perhaps, have a bowl once in a while, but if you are more into aromatics then this blend could be part of your regular rotation. This blend performs very, very, very well in corn cob pipes. Overall, I would incline to 2 starts or 2 & half stars, though if you are more into aromatics, then this can be very much enjoyed and be, at least, a 3-star blend.
