Davidoff Red Mixture

(2.93)
This mixture owes its distinctive aroma to a luxurious blend of black cavendish tobaccos and the interesting contrast of Virginian ribbon cut. This is an exceptionally smooth blend, which burns evenly.

Davidoff - Red Mixture.

What a great aroma from the mix, a clear Vanilla aroma with a slight hint of Coffee. There is more Black Cav' than Virginia, probably about 65% Black Cav' to 35% Virginia so with the aromatics aside I figure that this is going to be a sweet/creamy blend.

The mixture needs no airing so I fill and light it straight away and upon the moment it's lit the word relaxation springs to mind! This is without a doubt a blend to unwind with, being cool, smooth, creamy and flavoursome. With many blends containing vanilla the tobacco tastes can often be too imperious and cover the mellow vanilla but in Red Mix' there is none of this business at all, as noticeable as the black Cavendish's sweetness is my attempts to discern any additives are imminently acquiesced with a pure and full hit of vanilla, a beautiful addition! The Nicotine is not at all strong in Red' so for anyone who likes to smoke for flavour only without "N" impeding on the pleasure this would be a superb blend! If I were to re-name this then I would call it 'Davidoff Smooth'!

This is a definite four star blend that definitely belongs with a good book and a tasty Liqueur!

Oh my! While often quite disappointed by aromatics- this is a very very good one! If you are looking for a Nic-Kick, this isnt. But the nutty, mellow aroma is so pleasant that you have to try it. Virginias, Burley an a generous amount of BC made it also a nice eyecatcher. Im a Davidoff Fan in general but this one is on my top 3 List(besides Danish and Flake Medaillons). No tongue bite- even if smoked harsh. And I was told the roomnote is extremely pleasant!

Fine morning smoke with coffee. Very mild and refined cavendish, smoked in a pipe dedicated to mild, aromatic blends. I actually prefer something with a bit more flavor in the morning, but might purchase this again.

This is a great mixture if you like virginia with a little bit of aromatic vanilla. This is very mild and pleasant. And it has no bite.

Being an avid Virgina and English smoker I was apprehensive but still picked this up at the recommendation of the sales person at the Davidoff store in Manhattan.

I have to say I was surprised. I have been around the block with aromatics and have stayed away from them due to the bite and just sheer annoyance in trying to nurse them without bite.

This particular offering had a great burn with no bite and was very pleasant to smoke.

Great breakfast or before bed smoke.

Recommended.

It's an aromatic tobacco by Davidoff. In the mild and very mild range of tobaccos the Red Mixture is extremely recommended.

Nice aroma, regular burning (though I've noticed the temperature slightly higher than normal) and wonderful taste.

What is quite astonishing in this tobacco is the first smell after you've just opened the tin... extremely pleasant. And after lit, although with a different scent, it keeps a wonderful aroma (even my wife who doesn't like lit tobacco enjoys the room smell kept by this blend).

Very appropriate to be the first pipe tobacco, mainly if the rookie is not a cigarette smoker (due to its aromatic profile and mildness). Almost no tongue bite for an aromatic.

It was my first purchase and I have no regrets. Goog choice for the summer (or if you live in a tropical country like me).

Nowadays Davidoff's Red Mixture is not my favourite tobacco any longer but it still fills some bowls up quite often... Totally recommended considering its characteristics! The only drawback would be the price, quite high for a 50g tin.

On a cold, gentle and lazy morning; this blend was a great companion.

I could detect high quality components, a characteristic of Davidoff. A very sweet experience, the vanilla and caramel toppings are present during the whole smoke; it could get cloying though.

This blend is very light on complexity and strength. Recommended for pipe smokers who are starting because the flavours are easy to get.

Aging has added intensity to its sweetness and a gentle leathery taste.

It smokes evenly just needs one relight.

Originally bought because my favorite blend was not available I came to love this one pretty fast.

The Virginia is nicely in the background of the Cavendish and the flavoring gives a pleasant sweetness. No edges or sharp corners just a very well balanced tasty tobacco.

Goes extremely well with the unsweetened double espressi which I drink in work breaks.

[Edit: having tried this again after a week, it smokes much better than before and I am becoming more familiar with the mild aromatic - the aroma is OK; nevertheless, I will not pick this one up again.]

Davidoff cigars are my favourite non-Cubans. I expected this tobacco to be of the highest quality. It was an expensive tin. Unfortunately, this one is flat and I smoke it reluctantly.

The tobacco itself is a beautiful dark and pale ribbon blend with a prune nose and hints of the vanilla and caramel flavourings. While many aromatics are mild to the taste and present a nice aroma, upon lighting this blend is flavourless and presents no lasting aroma that I can detect.

It may be that I am naturally more suited to the stronger blends, but I did expect at least a hint of flavour in the tobacco itself and an aroma beyond light nuttiness. The aftertaste is not so bad, although I did find the tobacco biting at times and requiring constant relighting.
