Davidoff Red Mixture
(2.93)
This mixture owes its distinctive aroma to a luxurious blend of black cavendish tobaccos and the interesting contrast of Virginian ribbon cut. This is an exceptionally smooth blend, which burns evenly.

Two of my favorite casings are added to Davidoff Red (Caramel and Vanilla). It's a very sweet smoke, obviously, but not so sweet that you can't taste the tobacco (but you will have to search for it). The great news is that this is quality tobacco and the Virginia element adds to the presentation of the sweetened Black Cavendish. If you enjoy aromatics, this might be your manna from heaven.

Burns smooth and cool, albeit very mild in all respects. Slight flavoring goes fairly well with the base tobacco. Sometimes get a caramel-like note from the background flavor that hints of vanilla. Takes to the light easily, and burns clean. 2 stars for what it offers.

Fine morning smoke with coffee. Very mild and refined cavendish, smoked in a pipe dedicated to mild, aromatic blends. I actually prefer something with a bit more flavor in the morning, but might purchase this again.

nice once in a while and tastes good but too expensive for what it delivers.

This is my Aromatic of choice. It's a pleasent smoke, creamy and fruity. As all the Davidoffs, this comes in a very nice presentantion. Tin aroma is superb. Easy to pack and to lit. I don't smoke it everytday because I find it too be a bit too sweet. Overall is a nice tobacco to burn when my girl is around.

holy smokes the vanilla is overwhelming here and it will accompany you till half of the bowl then virginia's taste will be the sole player. davidoff red mixture has a high potential to become acrid if you puff just a little harder. it will be appealing for vanilla lovers and for those around them as long as you keep the smoke cool. just like any davidoff product its of high quality and expensive. for me i found that i don't like vanilla in my tobacco.
0 star for price 18 usd for 50 grams, 0 star for taste i don't like vanilla (subjective) 1 star for quality 1 stat it doesn't bite.

Well it's time to get to the final color - red.
The tin opening left me a bit ill; whatever was meant to be Vanilla/Caramel was instead an off-putting sour mash of fake, 'fruity', sweet topping. The densely packed ribbon did however feel good, with a ready-to-go moisture. The lit product fared OK, but the funky flavor was at best a flat general sweetness, that was neither a buttery Caramel or clean crisp Vanilla. It wasn't overly syrupy, yet still came off as kinda cheap.
For an aromatic it barely crept past the one star range, but for my money, stick to Davidoff's Green concoction.

A blind test, I guess. It happens sometimes. The stars aligned against me, so to speak. A dutyfree shop packaging without any discription of the tobacco. A dutyfree shop salesman without any detailed knowledge. Data roaming not working. So I bought a tin of Red Mixture, thinking, were I to colorcode a straight Virginia in either "RED", "BLUE" or "GREEN", I would chose "RED".
Fail.
Davidoff RED MIXTURE is a run of the mill aromatic mixture. Virginia and Black Cavendish (for me the turn off) and a very generic "fruity" casing.
The tobacco is perfectly conditioned and cut. The pipe fills nicely and is easily lit. Very even and full, burning down to a almost white ash, nothing can be said but for this tobacco.
However - the casing leaves a thick, creamy almost spongy feel/taste in the moth, which I do not appreatiate.
In short - NOT what I looked for, but a decent aromatic.
