D & R Tobacco Vengeur Regular Blend
(2.29)
A medium bodied blend, developed to be smooth and flavorful, with no bitter taste on the palate. This satisfying blend of flue-cured gold leaf, air-cured burley and Oriental tobaccos tastes great. A combination of flue-cured, burley and Oriental tobaccos.

Sort of dark sand in color and uniform in cut, this came in a tin instead of a bag and I noticed very little "shake" as a result. Deep, earthy smell in the tin - very inviting. A little too dry to smoke as is but I tried one bowl anyway. Not much flavor and sort of harsh and dry. I was told to hydrate these D&R blends for the pipe as they are also cigarette tobaccos and cig smokers prefer them dry. I suppose cig smokers aren't as likely to dry out their weed as pipe smokers are to hydate! I'm ok with that.
With some hydration, this wasn't a bad blend. Hydration is usually the kiss of death with pipe blends but instead of losing flavor, this one picked up a bit with some moisture. I couldn't decide if the lightly citrusy and grassy Virginia was in the lead or the nutty, dry burley. Different bowls made me feel differently. The orientals had a slight floral nature with some sourness and were well to the rear but provided a zesty perfumed essence. I smoked about 6 bowls before deciding this blend wasn't very exciting, but it wasn't a bad smoke. I would imagine it would wow cigarette smokers more so than pipers, which is in keeping with my experience with this blender. Ultimately this blend did nothing terribly wrong, but there are many, many better VA/Bur/OR blends out there. But if you're a cigarette smoker looking for an upgrade to the usual run of the mill RYO's, this should fit the bill.

Reviewed as a cigarette tobacco: for me this one is not as good as Vengeur Silver. The added Va's in that one lift and balance the blend. Without them it's still good, but a little muddy in comparison, with some harshness the Silver doesn't have. C

This one has some value. The Virginias give a sweet note. The Burley some earth and a little more sweetness. The Orientals a mild touch of butter. The only thing dragging this down is the dryness. This one might be worth the effort to re-hydrate. It's hot but manageable.
Mild to medium in body and flavor. Needless to say it burns well and quick.

D & R Tobacco - Vengeur Regular.
Sadly this has an issue I've found quite common for D & R, dryness. This one's not the worst, but it causes the lower recommendation. On the brighter side the mix is fairly uniform in its cut, and there isn't any unsmokeable pieces.
The dryness makes this light easily, and if I'm honest I quite like the actual flavour: some creamy Orientals, raw and nutty Burley, with a lesser amount of light Virginia. It tastes nice, but the taste has next to no time before it's all over; the dryness spoils the fun. The lack of moisture also raises the temperature, and with the bite I get causes an experience which isn't what I'd call 'enjoyable'.
The room-note's alright, and the nicotine's medium.
If it wasn't so dry I'd recommend it, but Vengeur can only have two stars; nice flavour, rubbish mechanics.
Somewhat recommended.
