No tobacco taste at all, but then again, you're not buying it for that. You're buying it because you want a rich chocolate flavored dessert smoke, though it can be an all day smoke if you so desire. There a little vanilla present, too. The smell of the blend is stronger than the taste, which I found to be a plus because it won't overwhelm the smoker with too much chocolate. Has little nicotine. The strength is in the center of mild to medium, while the taste level is a couple of steps past that mark. Won't bite or get harsh, and has no dull moments. It was a little moist when I got it, but I did not dry it out, and it burned cool and clean at a reasonable pace, with no harshness or bite, and very little moisture left in the bowl. Requires an average number of relights. No goop at the finish. Has a very pleasant, lightly lingering after taste and room note. An all day smoke.

Ah yes, B30 is just what I was looking for: a black Cavendish chocolate flavored blend. McClelland's Chocolate Silk is still the finest Chocolate blend I have ever had but B30 comes in a close 2nd. Mild tobacco with zero nicotine and the aroma in the bag does not translate to the taste. Yes you will taste the cocoa but nowhere near the almost unsettling tin note (which is good since it would have overwhelmed me). Everyone loves the room note and I liked the silky smooth, bite free taste. Again, I would prefer MC's Chocolate Silk but if I ran out and had this in my cellar, I could satisfy my sweet tooth and be content smoking B30. Also makes a great mixer with a strong burley!

Some people think you should give this to your girlfriend . .. I say dont bother untill youre grown up and married ... cause girlfriends are like the wind . Anyway , This blend has a nice choc mousse taste that dosent bite , smokes cool and mostly dry and the roomnote is very nice . It's mild in body and nicotine . After a day of working at my business and working on my farm / home and family [ you know ... man stuff ] this is a relaxing smoke . If you like aromatics , and why wouldnt you , you could give this a try very cheaply ... wvsmokeshop.com and other sites have it in 1 oz samples for like 1.79 or something like that . Have your wife try it too ... she may end up smoking the pipe w/ you ... my wife enjoys it . She also Enjoys Escudo and a bunch more of whats in MY cellar 🙂

A tip of the cap to the two previous reviewers whose positive comments led to me trying this.

I've been looking for a decent chocolate tobacco for blending experiments, specifically, to add more chocolate flavor and aroma to SG Chocolate Flake. (It works....give it a try.)

I pretty much agree with all the comments made in the previous reviews. The aroma of this is very strong, reminding me of freshly spread cocoa bean shell mulch. The flavor isn't as strong as the aroma but is definately there.

It does tend to burn a bit on the hot side but without tongue bite, and is best when mixed with a cooler burning weed.

Not something I'd often want to smoke by itself, but an excellent blending agent (very inexpensive too).

Zarnicky loves this tobacco. Is very mild and smoother than a baby's bottom. Zarnicky have only von tooth and is a sweet tooth. Det's why I lovink dis Chocolate Mousse. Is better than smoking a Canadian Moose because antlers not get stuck in pipe. Is very sweet and delicious. Trust Zarnicky and try it. If you like mild aromatics, you vill loving this one.

First Impressions:

I only bought an ounce of this to try, because the idea of chocolate tobacco just wasn't quite clicking with me. But, I love my BCA, and its clouds of vanilla smoke. So, why not?

Pouch note. As others have mentioned, this is a strong, rich, chocolate brownie smell in the pouch, that is about the strongest aroma I have encountered. And, it's not a chemical smell, either...just rich and delicious. Edible, even.

This was pretty moist, and I'll update this review in a few weeks, after it has dried a bit. But, it lit pretty well, and tended to stay lit without much problem. The clouds of chocolaty smoke will make you a friend in any room, I suspect.

As expected (and hoped) the smoke is less chocolaty, more of a rich creamy cocoa, but with enough flavor to make it a real keeper, and with some mouth taste of chocolate, also. There is no tobacco taste, but the tobacco is merely the chocolate delivery system, so I wasn't expecting any

This is a very nice aro, providing a nice counterpoint to the BCA, and its vanilla. And, it should make a fine evening dessert smoke, but could easily be smoked all day.

To get some tobacco flavor, I often mix CH with my BCA, and simply love that combination of vanilla and nutty flavors of the CH burley. CH will also be mixed with the Mousse, as I expect to find a similar nutty-chocolate mix that will also go on my list of "must smoke this more often" home blends.

For the moment, if you're a fan of vanilla, buy haven't yet tried chocolate, then I'd say your in for a treat. Three stars for smoked flavor, but the pouch aroma is simply a home run.

Candy Store? You're there. Out of the chocolates this is my favorite. Strong chocolate. It's a little like walking up and down the row smelling the offerings and stopping at a spot or two to get the most pleasant whiff. The topping is so much that I have to relight more often, but it's worth it.

This blend came as a bit of a surprise. As a lover of dark semi-sweet chocolate, I had yet to find an aromatic tobacco "labeled" chocolate to really deliver a true chocolate taste and aroma. This one does, and does it well. It is a very rough cut, but packed easily and burned well. The only thing I found that could elicite any real critisism was that it did burn a little on the hot side (it is an Altadis blend), but slow puffing and a couple of relites seemed to take care of the problem.

This is not what I would call an everyday smoke, at least from my standpoint, but it is an aromatic I plan to keep around for those times when I'm looking for something just a little different.

What do you know, this makes 3 Altadis blends that I've found a liking for. Will wonders never cease.

A brief update. With regard to the hot burning tendancies of this blend, I tried a 50/50 mix of the B-30 and Lane BCA which burns much cooler. I had expected that this blend would reduce the predominant dark chocolate flavor, but to my surprise, the blend not only burned cooler, but lost little of the chocolate flavor, and after smoking this mixture for a while actually came to prefer it to "straight" B-30.

What a surprisingly pleasant tobacco! The pouch aroma is very strong chocolate mousse, but the smoke is far more subtle. This is not like smoking a candy bar. The smell and taste is chocolate, but not syrupy sweet, and not even like milk chocolate. More bitter-sweet.

Don't make the mistake I did. I couldn't wait to smoke this when I received it, so I loaded my pipe. The tobacco was limp with moisture, and I used half a tank of butane in my lighter trying to keep it lit. It smoked hot because of the steam from the moisture. Had I reviewed it at that point, this would not have been a very positive review! The smell and taste of the tobacco were diluted by the steam, and it smoked hotter than I'd ever expected.

I spread a couple of pipes worth on a piece of paper and let it dry on an office table for a couple of days. Voila! Not sticky, didn't clump together. Loaded a pipe, and it remained lit...and the chocolate aroma mouth after-taste were wonderful!

Smokes slow and consistent...more than an hour in my medium bowl pipes. I enjoyed every bit of it!

Today, I am sounding the Requiem for the Chocoladytes. I know you are out there, because I am one too and there is nothing unique about me the truth be known. Specifically, I give you Part II of Sutliff chocolate aromatic adventures. This time, me and my cheapo hardwood cob are frolicking with a smashing bowl of the so-called B30 Chocolate Mousse. A gnarly mask of pitched ebon Cavendish drenched in quarts of chocolate and rich cocoa flavorings. Keep in mind that is the official label from the manufacturer, but there is some misted vanilla influence working within this blend as well.

Jagged and irregular slivers frame its coarse cut and amply wet texture. The pouch note on this mix is so bracing ones gets just an annihilating blast of intense dark chocolate and bittersweet cocoa which is quite enough for the senses. To say its mouthwatering on impact would be a disservice. The aroma is delightfully transfixing if you are a true Chocola-maniac.

Oddly, the magnitude and strength of the added flavoring are much more mellow within the experienced taste profile versus the riveting smack of its nose. Yet, the additives do in fact overpower the general registration with an initial blusterous thrust of pure chocolate bliss, (i.e., yes very mousse-like). This one, as opposed to Sutliff’s Chocolate Trouffle, is much, much deeper, and richer in the principal taste feature. The smooth overall tone reminds me of the boldness and depth of quality German style chocolate. Happy thoughts of one of my favorite childhood candies, Ice Cubes produced by Albert’s/Mortiz, comes to mind during its smoking. About halfway through the session, however, this wonderful flavor attenuates markedly as a well-spoken note of vanilla and fictile, softly-tart, zest of the base Cavendish pull forward in complement.

B30 is cool burning with absolutely no bite, which is always a fine disclosure. The exquisitely choco-full room essence, with its succulently sweet and warmly inviting thick plumage, will have you feverously searching, spoon in hand, for that hidden dish of fluffy whipped delight. It’s a good one bottom-line I must say, but I do favor the Trouffled version a bit more myself.

Long may your pipe smoke!
