This is a rough cut blend that is easy to fill the pipe with. I did have some difficulty with burn. A number of relights were needed, but this did not detract from the experience. In looking at this blend, I would never guess that Latakia is a feature. There just was not a lot of black leaf in my particular bulk sample. While not a bomb, the Latakia Provides some smokiness and adds to the earthiness of the burley. The oriental leaf adds to the bouquet and sidestream. The Burleys are king in this blend, and they are earthy and strong. If I tried to explain this blend simply, I would say to imagine a light Balkan, say EMP. Dump all the VA out and replace it with stiff burley, spike it with Perique, and voila, big AND burley. I enjoyed this tobacco cocktail mightily, but there is a bit too much strength to make for an all day smoke. Just as L/S M.F.T. C&D means fine burley.

I won't bore you with what my expectations were, what my hopes were that this blend would be. The only way I can describe this would be to imagine unpacking the filler from an unflavored machine-made 'cigar' into your pipe. Acrid, and 'cigar-like.' Plenty of nicotine is fine, but I don't smoke blends because I am looking for nicotine in particular. The nicest things I can say about this blend are that it left a pleasant smell on my fingers, and a peculiarly interesting and not altogether unpleasant aftertaste. I understand that there are many Burley enthusiasts, and I can imagine how this blend might represent something of a "Burley bomb" in the same way that people like a "Latakia bomb." However I can't escape the sensation that I'm smoking something exceptionally average. This blend might be an interesting variation for someone who likes the classic Burley-in-a-can American blends of yesteryear. I'll be jarring this and coming back to it (very) occasionally over the years to see if it starts looking better with time, like the girl with the funny haircut in my highschool yearbook.

True as the name suggests:big and burley! I can only smoke this occasionally when I need a nic shot. But it is a good quality burley blend. I can't recommend it to all except for those who like it really Big and Burley.

Though I have browsed the reviews on this site ad nauseum, this is the first tobacco that has prompted me to actually write something for I love this like no other.
C&D lists this under "English Blends." What? Whaaaat!? I have smoked english blends, I own english blends, I often enjoy english blends. You sir, are no English blend. Perique? If you say so, but I cannot taste it unlike, say Old Joe Krantz which C&D sees fit to list as a burley. Turkish? Umm, ok. Latakia? My tastebuds nor my visual acuity (Latakia is a dark old leaf) can detect any.
Nope, this is Burley! Earthy, chocolatey, delicious burley. I could, and often do, smoke nothing but this all day. Think Wessex Burley slice (which I incidentally love) that knew somebody. Puffed hard, it unfolds like chocolate covered balls of earth in the mouth. Smoked respectfully, it adds some higher, sweeter notes. Smoke however you like as my body chemistry absolutely cannot make this stuff bite or even tingle.
I have taken to ordering this stuff by the pound as I read Dunhill, etc. horror stories.
Whatever the case, if you like burley, you owe it to yourself to try this.

Wow! I believe I\'ve found an easy top five blends. I\'m usually an English / Scottish man, but decided to branch out after some 15 years of pipe smoking to try Burleys. This does not disappoint. Very full flavored blend to say the least. Jiminks said it all - very accurate description of B-n-B. I find a good bit of spiciness, so sipping is recommended. Towards the bottom of the bowl, the spiciness recedes and the smoke becomes almost creamy. Not a blend for the timid!

I love this stuff!!! I just have to have C&D Burleys! Over here in Europe there are some fine mixtures. But for the delight of bold pure tobacco flavour you just have to reach out over the pond! That rich almost unadulterated tobacco flavour. US burley leaf is just amazing! Love it! Big n Burley itches that scratch so damn fine. And the condimental leaf just spices this blend up to always keep you interested. One of my Favoriten!!!! Sitting in a jar for around a year didnt hurt the blend either! But there gots to be a Proper amount of some cigar leaf in there as well? Adds good depth to the show imo.
