McClelland Easy Street

(2.32)
An elegant black cavendish with a whisper of English walnut. It's cool as the coolest jazz, soft as velvet nights, rich and creamy. Smoke it and you'll be on Easy Street.

I am a little confused over some of the not recommended reviews I have read on this blend. They seem to be all over the map. Too much flavor not enough flavor. I found this to be pretty darn tasty. Yes I get a bit of walnut and molasses throughout the smoke. Will it knock you over.....well no but you get this taste throughout the smoke. Opening note is pretty mild without a lot of aroma. Lights fine and taste starts right away but not overwhelming. You have of course to smoke this slow like all aromatics. If you feel you bowl getting warm.....slow down so you don't burn off all your flavor. Room note is mild but pleasant. All in all this is a most pleasing aromatic that you could smoke all day long. I give it 3 1/2 stars.

Pure Black Cavendish, so all you really get is the casing/topping. I've generally rather disliked to really disliked this type of tobacco, but while it was a bit too sweet for my taste in general, I was surprised I didn't dislike this. Unlike most Cavendish blends, I got no burn nor bite; it smoked at a slightly faster rate than I'd like, but not as fast as I feared. Maybe I'm suggestable, but I got and rather liked the walnut flavoring more than many reviewers seemed to. Maybe I just like walnuts!

Looking for a strong tobacco? a natural tobacco? Nope, not this. Looking for a slightly different dark Cavendish? Then maybe yes.

Easy Street is a straight black Cavendish blend with a sweet & sour, musty/molded fruit tin note. The flavoring is supposed to be English Walnut. However, I wouldn't exactly liken it to the black walnut extract that's used in ice cream and baked goods.

There isn’t much to this blend, and I disagree with the tin description which promises a rich and creamy smoke. I do enjoy the flavor of the unique topping, but unfortunately it's all I can taste.

By itself, Easy Street burns well, provides a fairly dry smoke and a nice room note. I found the flavor to be reminiscent of Wilke’s Bleeker Street. I also found this to be an interesting Cavendish for blending. Try mixing a dash of it with a base of Red Cake 5100.

It is interesting to smoke an unsweetened black cavendish. It usually tastes a little musty and thin to me. There must be some quality in the sweetener that gives me the musty. This was thin on taste but the overall smoking experience was pleasant enough.

Mine was a sample from a friend, and it was at a good level of hydration - maybe slightly on the dry side. I have been smoking it this way. I can't really comment on the tobacco flavor because the mild topping masks it.

The topping is supposed to be walnut, and maybe this is the flavor of walnuts. It tasted more like weak coffee with cream and sugar to me.

It smoked easily, but the flavor ran out of steam in the last third of the bowl. It was almost like smoking hot air at this point. I did not experience goop/dottle.

It is hard to recommend this in general, but it could easily be exactly what someone is looking for.

Dark coarse cut cavendish with a fairly strong walnut liquor top note. Rich but mild smoke. Kind of like black walnut ice cream but not nearly as sweet. The smoke was cool and enjoyable but pretty one dimensional. Not overly aromatic but the quality tobacco did shine through. Good to have around as a change a pace from time to time but not an everyday smoke in my opinion.

I picked this up as a sample at my local tobacco shop and liked it enough to buy a tin. As my fellow reviewer noted, it's fairly one dimensional and steady throughout (no 1st, 2nd, 3rd bowl) as most aromatics / cavendish are. It burns dry and cool, has good room note. Actually, what struck me was that it fit the description on the can, i.e., velvety and creamy. I've tried the other Premium Aromatics (Pal O Min, best in show) and like this the best of the bunch. As a usual VA smoker, this is a nice change a pace and crowd pleaser without being goopy or overly sweet.

What a wonderful concept -Walnut flavoring! I really enjoyed this.A very dry black cavendish with a wonderful Walnut essence to it. It burns very cool. There is no goop to this one at all.Actually, the flavoring is present throughout the bowl down to the dottle. It is very one dimensional, but in truth, all aromatics are 1 dimensional. If you are a lover of a natural walnut taste,I think you will really enjoy this.In quality and general characteristics it is very similar to Cornell&Diehl's bulk blend "ESPRESSO".In flavor it is like a less sweet HAAGEN DAZ's "WALNUT" ice cream. A very dry, pleasant, and flavorful aromatic diversion. 3.5 of 4 aromatic stars.

One of my favorite aromatics! Too bad you cannot find it here in Europe and I must smuggle it in via my mothers care packages. A delightful smoke all by itself, cool with no bite and a pleasant room note. No English walnut taste here but full of BLACK walnut taste, which I prefer anyways

To make it last, I extend it with one part ES with 3 parts Smokers Pride Black Cavendish. The SPBC soaks up the walnut taste real well and the smoke stays cool with the same pleasant room note.

I was not impressed with Easy Street as the Walnut topping was not sweet enough for me. Great quality Black Cavendish (as always with Mc) that had not bite (or Nicotine) and smoked somewhat cool. I can see where they were going with this aromatic and someone who enjoys Walnuts on a Sundae or toasted in their shells and eaten by themselves would surely be impressed with the natural tasting topping but for me I evidently prefer Vanilla or Chocolate Etc. toppings.

This was far too weak for my likings. The taste is ok, a bit chemicalish, not a bad flavour, but not real good either. I found if this is mixed with mclelland blue mountain it is significantly better, but overall it's a dud. I won't be buying more of this, but if you hate nicotine, and like sweet black cav this could be worth a shot.
