Watch City Cigar Persian Slipper

(3.27)
This is a beautiful mild Oriental blend of the highest quality. Fine Turkish and Middle Eastern tobaccos lightly spice a bed of the highest quality crumb cut burley and stoved cavendish. A dash of bright Virginia rounds off this blend.
Notes: Website states, "Not dry and strong like the tobacco Holmes kept in the toe of a Persian slipper but more like the slipper itself, soft and comfortable! This is a blend in the Scottish tradition which leans toward the Oriental. Izmir Turkish, Green River Black Cavendish, Crumb-Cut Burley, Latakia, a touch of Perique and a bit of Carolina ribbon for a nutty sweetness."

I was given a nice sample of this a few weeks ago. I smoked one bowl two Sundays ago but as I had smoked quite a bit of stronger tobaccos wanted to wait and smoke this fresh as I did this afternoon. This has a nice ribbon cut, with a somewhat sweet note to it but not aromatic, at least the description says no flavoring. This really is a mild, smooth, Turkish blend that in my opinion is best smoked before having anything else or the taste will really be diminished. First bowl, okay, mild, vaguely reminded me of cigarette, probably the Turkish but in a positive way. By the third bowl I had really started to enjoy this one more than the previous two. On a footnote this blend was called Baghdad Bob and at some point, changed to Persian Slipper. On my personal scale this is a two, not due to the blend itself but just too mild for me, for others I am sure this would be a three. I also find it interesting that I am the first person to review this blend in four years. Happy 300th! Hard to believe that starting out many years ago I would be able to say that I have tried and reviewed 300 blends on this site but here we are. Still waiting on my badge to update but after repeated unanswered emails I guess they don’t do it anymore or they just don’t like me, who knows. 🙂 From an article by Daniel Kurtzman, “Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, better known to American reporters and TV viewers as "Baghdad Bob," was the Iraqi information minister from 2001 to 2003. During the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq….” https://www.liveabout.com/baghdad-bob-quotes-4068522

I find this oriental/english blend to be a very mild and enjoyable. The cavendish is very light and the virginias give it a slight bit of a tang. The latakia is light but present. I mostly agree with Tantric's review however I prefer WC's N'oreasetr mixture to this blend. Still I recommend this mellow mix although I prefer a bit more taste oomph and strength.
