I had to smoke it a few times to appriciate it. It is a nice blend for a fair price. You can distinguish the different flavors but they are not over th top so you can also taste the tobacco easily. These days I only keep 2 blends at a time, one for regular smoking and one to taste. Royal is my regular smoke I enjoy for the last couple of months.

Captain Black Royal is my favorite of the CB line. It is incredibly smooth and has a great vanilla top note. As with most of the Captain Black line, it will bite you if you are too aggressive with it. Overall, a good aromatic.

Newer to pipe smoking and it's the best I've found so far. Mild and pleasant as is said. Smells pretty good and smokes decent. I dry mine out and puff like a chimney and inhale and I enjoy it all day. Until I find something better at least. A good smoke. Worth a try.

Nice blend if your in a pinch, this was my first tobacco, puffed way too fast and got a nasty case of leather tongue. Learned to slow down, and smoked from my MM cob... that did the trick the taste and aroma came out. Awsome.
Pretty much available anywhere, so a early morning trip to the nearest gas bar in a pinch is helpful.
Has a lot of relights, drowned rat out of the pouch, let dry for an hour, pack loose. A heavy hand with the lighter will also toast the flavour right out of it, so go easy.
Dumped out my wife's poupouri in the bathroom, put a small jar of CBR in there.... for air quality (not fer smoking) YMMV

This is a good aromatic tobacco. But I did not like it as much as the CB white. It was a little "tangy". But otherwise an excellent blend. I mixed this with some cube cut burley for additional body and nicotine.

A delightful blend for a new smoker. I'm 28 and just took up the pipe. I've tried a few blends and so far this is my favorite. A delightful mellow flavor and quite a pleasant aftertaste that gets sweeter once the pipes done. A delightful budget smoke.

I actually like the pouch and certainly, the price. I would liken this somewhat to Maravilla and Lane 1-Q. Mild and easy... some people like virgina's as an all-day smoke. I like this as an al-day smoke.

I find CB Gold ideal. This had no nic or tongue bite. Bought in bulk, perfect moisture level. CB dark is a little stronger. 2.5 stars Nice billowing clouds of smoke. Very good for an OTC blend. I think I would buy this again. EDIT: allegedly this is Lane 1Q

Similar to the blend of Gold is a fairly neutral mix at all, doesn't stand out at all though is not bad at all. It is a simple mixture so it does not recommend to buy it.

Back when I started smoking the pipe this was the only blend I could get. I have tried many other blends and brands since then, but I still think CB Royal is a good and decent tobacco.
Easy to pack and to light, this blend is well balanced and in a good moisture level, CB Royal is ready to be burned straight away. It needs to be sipped otherwise it will bite and cause your pipe to gurgle. The room note is pleasant !
All in all, CB Royal is not complex or sophisticated, but provides a satisfying smoke. And it's sold by an honest price!
