Wilke Pipe Tobacco Wilke No. 5

(3.43)
Our exclusive Royal Scot is added to a mixture of medium cut Burley, rich Virginias and just enough Latakia to create a pleasant aromatic English blend. A nice change of pace.

This is an interesting crossover/aromatic tobacco. Just enough Latakia to let you know its there, but no more. Wilke No. 5 is an old style blend that I think falls more into the aromatic side of things all though some may feel its a crossover. Either way it's one of the better one's in this grouping. The blend isn't interesting enough for me to smoke often, but is a nice change of pace. As with all the P&W blends, it is made with high quality leaf that burns cleanly (with a little pre-smoke dry time) and isn't cloying. No. #5 will please aromatic smokers and English smokers looking for something a little different. Recommended.

This is a nice, spicey-sweet, American English from this venerable blending house. The top-note is very pleasant, and underneath is a smooth composition of Burley, Virginia, and just enough Latakia, to let you know it is there. The tobacco is top quality, and this burns dry and clean. It reminds me a bit of Peretti's No. 102, but I prefer this. Another pleasant companion perfect for an afternoon drive. I love these old style blends, and this one is indeed a nice change of pace.
