Wilke Pipe Tobacco Wilke No. 5
(3.43)
Our exclusive Royal Scot is added to a mixture of medium cut Burley, rich Virginias and just enough Latakia to create a pleasant aromatic English blend. A nice change of pace.

The burley is nutty, earthy and woody with a little molasses, and is one of the star components. The lightly earthy, mostly grassy, citrusy Virginias competes with it, and is occasionally settles for being second best. The woody, lightly smoky, earthy, musty Cyprian Latakia is a secondary player that you’ll always notice. The sweet Royal Scot topping does mute the tobaccos just a little. The strength and nic-hit are a couple of steps past the mild mark, while the taste is in the center of mild to medium. Won't bite or get harsh, and has few rough moments. Needs a little dry time, but once you do that, it burns cool, clean, moderately mellow and very smooth with a consistent sweet and savory flavor from top to bottom. Requires some relights. Leaves some moisture in the bowl. Has a very pleasant, lightly lingering after taste and room note. An all day smoke seemingly designed for an entry English-aro smoker. It’s lack of depth and complexity relegates it to two and a half stars.
