Well, it seems this tobacco is very appreciated around here, but I dissent... It has a very nice dark sweetness, and the piquant notes from perique are pleasant too... but I find that the burley used here can turn quite bitter and nasty (like a relit cigar), with a dustiness which can certainly be evocative of an old bookshop filled with old tomes and spiderwebs but which doesn't fit my taste. It's the same bitter cigarishness that I dislike in some other C&D blends!

Like some other reviewers,I had seen the name 'Haunted Bookshop' toosed around quite a bit. I thought I should give it a try. I have enjoyed other Burley based blends in the past, so I had high hopes for Bookshop.
The tobacco was as I expected to see, a bit on the dry side of what you normally find, but trusting to C&D, I left it alone. I'm glad I did - it smoked great the way it was. The cut made it a breeze to load into any size bowl with no fiddling required.
From the charring light to the end, this is a very pleasant, albeit mild and nearly monochromatic smoke. This isn't the stuff to have in your pipe when you sit down to relax and solve all the world's problems. This is more of an all-day type smoke. It doesn't require great concentration, tongue bite never paid a visit to this bookshop, and keeping it lit was pretty automatic.
I did find that the Perique and Va is used very lightly - the Perique always there in the background, while the Va shows up on occasion. Other than that, it's pretty much Burley, with a hint of spice.
A very straightforward blend, with a room note that is extremely light and mild.
Overall, I don't see myself ordering more Bookshop any time soon, but I won't cross it off the list either.

As a newer pipe smoker, I am mainly exploring the different blends (I favor aromatic blends, although I am dipping my toes into the non-aromatic blends now) to find what I like. The product description lists - burley, perique & virginia with no additional flavor added. Opening the tin, what I smelled was nice tobacco smell, pleasant and mild. The flavor I tasted was from the burley and a bit of the perique. I have tasted other blends with these tobaccos, but the combination they used in this was such that I did not enjoy this as much as I had hoped (from others reviews). I did have a small bit tounge-bite with this blend.

Not my favorite C&D blend. Heavy burley causes the first 10-15 minutes to taste similar to cigarettes. (I’ve never smoked cigarettes...tried them...but not my thing). Then a pleasant barn hay type of taste.
Room note is not pleasing
Strength is proper
I think I’ll put the tin away for a while and revisit.

I would call this the Frog Morton of vaburper or even vabur's in general. It is a great starting point in this category for those new to the components but you will eventually advance on to better blends. A solid C to C- and there is nothing wrong in that.

Low rating for this one, but I can't blame the tobacco. I just plain don't like Burleys. Burns well though. I will try it again after this tin ages a while. Would not feel bad if this review was removed...

You gotta love the name of this tobacco. And I am a big fan of a number of C&D blends. But for me this starts off quite sharpish at the match. It is an acceptable smoke for about two thirds of the bowl; it has a light smokey quality with mild tobacco flavor, but nothing that rings my bell. It does not convey a strong burley flavor. For the last third of the bowl it becomes a bit bitter. It may be that I have been away from this type of burley blend too long and just cannot get into the swing of it. As with all C&D blends, the quality of the tobacco is first rate. It should be worth a try for burley lovers. Paddy.
