I purchased this blend on the spur of the moment. At $20 a pound, what's there to lose? In short, it's basic, but wonderful in its simplicity. It's burley and Virginia, noting more. No toppings, just tobacco. Puffed slowly, the nutty sweetness comes through.
My tobacco came a tad on the dry side but passed the pinch test. I jarred it at once.
This is a no pretences all day smoke. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Still going through a very generous 2 ounce bag of this one. It was purchased with several other Burley blends with the intent of doing a comparison to see which I preferred. It’s very similar to MM Missouri Pride although a bit less costly as it’s sold in bulk. That said, it’s an enjoyable smoke in spite of seeming a bit dry in the bag...seems like it may be best smoked a bit dry. Burley seems to be the major component and in my experience, Burley seems best a bit on the dry side.
It loads, packs and burns well, isn’t a problem managing a bowl and is probably best in a typical 3/4” X 1 1/2” bowl. Wide shallow bowls seem to inhibit the flavor and make for a hotter burn.
My gut feeling is that the ribbon size is a bit narrow but after watching a video/interview of the blending process, I realize that changing this aspect of the blend isn’t a small thing...they aren’t producing it tin by tin.
I like it and will get around to reviews of the others I selected in time, meanwhile I’ll just enjoy it as an anytime smoke in virtually any pipe I have on hand.

Package note of vinegary sour and peaty vegetation. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of brown an dark brown. Moisture content is ok. A few pipe smokers may want to dry it a bit. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of molasses, spices, mild tangy fruit, peaty dry vegetation, sweet grass, fermented sour, bitter orange peel/zest, toasted bread, herbal floral, very earthy, wood, a slightly spicy hay and nutty background note, and a peppery retro. Burley is leading with Virginia supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is good.

Low Country Natural VA & Burley has a jar note that is earthy, woodsy, nutty, and sweet. The Burley is the leading component in this blend. It is earthy, woody, nutty, and has a light toastiness that reminds me of oats, and hints of cocoa and molasses. At about the halfway point there is a little sharpness and sourness that might suggest some white burley is in the mix as well. The VA's are very sweet with a hint of dark fruits and a little sweet spiciness. The smoke is rugged and a little rough around the edges but will not bite. The nic is at the bottom end of med. strong and it is enough to satisfy. The sweetness lingers on the tongue for a little while and is quite nice. This is a great smoke and with this review, I have completed smoking my 4 oz sample and have already added a pound to the cart for my next order. The room note is pleasant for me but others found it less so. Highly recommended.
