I recently purchased 8oz's of this wonderful tobacco from Smokingpipes.com. At less than 20 dollars a pound and blended by C&D intrigued me enough to give it a try. I am glad i did!

Mostly dark burley of very good quality. The Va. is a very minor player that was almost undetectable at first. I smoked 4-5 bowls as it arrived which was very dry. It was slightly harsh and bitter if smoked to hot and too fast. I hydrated it overnight and it improved the tobacco. The sweetness of the Va. was more present and the harshness and bitterness was all but gone. The flavor is upfront burley goodness, woodsy, slightly cocoa, nutty, slightly spicey ( maduro cigar leaf like). The Va, in the background adds just enough sweetness. No flavorings or toppings. It has a good nicotine hit as well. I got no bite from it and could be all day smoke for me. It sort of reminds me of Old Joe Krantz without the perique

I plan to order a couple more pounds shortly. Easily a 4 star blend and the price just makes it even better. This one of the few blends i have not thought of adding something to it to make it better. This would make a fine base burley if you wanted to add some latakia , perique or orientals, but i like it as is and can not smoke enough of it.

If you are a burley lover give this a try.

Wow! All natural tobacco goodness !

The nutty and earthy flavors of the burley predominate in this blend. It also has a creamy, malt, and bread and butter quality to it.

But it is also sweet with the Virginia in the background.

This blend is full-flavored in a natural way, with no artificial aromas added.

The nicotine level is relatively strong, but it didn't knock me out. You can feel the nicotine flavor coat your tongue at 1/5 down the bowl.

NV&B smokes cool and consistent, and needs very few relights. It gives no tongue bite. One of the best Va Burs out there, and a much under-rated one , too !

This is Half & Half without the topping and with higher quality ingredients. I bought 8oz because it was cheap as chips. I bought it with the thought of using it to extend my Edward G. Robinson, which I love, but whose flavouring becomes a bit cloying for me so I follow the example of the late, great Shelby Foote and mix it 2 to one with something unflavoured. Of course I smoked some before blending it and was surprised to find out how good it was on its own. C&D Pegasus is my go-to burley and, if I had to choose, I think I'd pick this over Pegasus. This is really a BurVa. Lots of smooth, nutty burley with some deep sweetness that I would guess is mostly red Virginia rather than the grassier, more floral bright. I don't get the nic hit that others have mentioned and I'm usually a nic wimp. I'd put this right in the center of the the medium range. It came rather dry in the bag but that's what I prefer. Like all pipe tobacco, it's best sipped slowly. It meets my personal test of leaving me wanting more than my self-imposed 2 bowl per night limit. It could be an all day smoke for someone looking for one.

I purchased this blend on the spur of the moment. At $20 a pound, what's there to lose? In short, it's basic, but wonderful in its simplicity. It's burley and Virginia, noting more. No toppings, just tobacco. Puffed slowly, the nutty sweetness comes through.

My tobacco came a tad on the dry side but passed the pinch test. I jarred it at once.

This is a no pretences all day smoke. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Low Country Natural VA & Burley has a jar note that is earthy, woodsy, nutty, and sweet. The Burley is the leading component in this blend. It is earthy, woody, nutty, and has a light toastiness that reminds me of oats, and hints of cocoa and molasses. At about the halfway point there is a little sharpness and sourness that might suggest some white burley is in the mix as well. The VA's are very sweet with a hint of dark fruits and a little sweet spiciness. The smoke is rugged and a little rough around the edges but will not bite. The nic is at the bottom end of med. strong and it is enough to satisfy. The sweetness lingers on the tongue for a little while and is quite nice. This is a great smoke and with this review, I have completed smoking my 4 oz sample and have already added a pound to the cart for my next order. The room note is pleasant for me but others found it less so. Highly recommended.
