A blend of dark and toasted cavendish with just the right amount of burley and a bit of Virginia. Topped with a rich cherry flavor.

The grassy, citrusy Virginia is the base of the blend. The nutty, toasty burley is a supporting player. The unsweetened back cavendish adds a light sugar note. The chocolate topping is very mild, and the cherry is a little more obvious. The toppings aren’t very strong and lack depth, but they do sublimate the tobaccos, especially the burley. Has very little nicotine. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns fairly cool, and clean at a moderate pace, though the toppings weaken just a little in the last third of the experience. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and needs an average number of relights. Has an okay after taste. An all day smoke. Two and a half stars.

I just purchased the 9oz. polybag today from my local Rite Aid. It costs me $15.32. It was regular priced and comes to only $1.51 an ounce. No telltale aroma from the unopened bag. No reconizable dating on the bag. It felt right with no air leaks, important in purchasing polybags. Its made by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Lane Ltd, Tucker, GA. Made in USA. I purchased trusting in Lane Ltd to be honest. I am a fan of the Captain Blacks except for the Cherry, which is too cherry for my tastes. I tried this first in a new cob. I noticed just the right amount of cherry with chocolate notes mixed in. Was pleased from start to finish. Its medium strength and very pleasant. Good aroma. Value priced. Tried it in a Peterson next. It was even better. Borkum Riff Cherry look out. This is better and that was a favorite of mine in the 1980s. Now, if only they would bring out a Whiskey flavor to the line up I might be a perpetual customer. Availability, company, price and quality made this a repeat buy in the future.

I'm not much of an aromatic smoker. My consumption of these tobaccos can be measured in the low number of ounces per year, but I am fond of cherries and chocolate. On the basis of the reviews here and the extremely low price of this tobacco I decided to give this a try.

When I popped the bag open and inserted my nose I was welcomed by the smell of chocolate covered cherries. Packing a bowl, my first draws tasted like chocolate covered cherries. I tasted very little burley and almost no virginia--but that was okay. I didn't expect to taste much other than the topping, and the taste of that topping is so good i don't mind.

This is a wonderful change of pace dessert tobacco for me. There is very little vitamin n present, but I didn't expect that, nor do I intend to use it for that. It left me with a clean, sweet, pleasant aftertaste without the chemical greasy feeling something like Paladin or Borkum Riff leaves.

It doesn't bite, it smokes cool, it stays lit, and the taste is refreshing. At this price I can't ask for more. I'll probably have this 9 ounces jarred for a long time, but so far it has done what I need it to do.

Recommended.

This is my first Cherry Cavendish blend I have tried. The smell from the pouch is a rich cherry / dark chocolate similar to the "Cherry Ripe" chocolate bar, the smell translates to the taste nicely. As you get past the first half of the bowl, the flavour changes a little. I guess the cherry syrup and tobacco juices saturate into the base tobacco and the flavour gets a bit "goopy", it's still ok but not as nice as the first half bowl. This blend would have been better with a slightly milder cherry syrupy flavouring. I will still buy more (for under $5 a pouch it's worth buying to blend or store)

EDIT: Tried this in a cob today whilst enjoying a coffee outside, the second half flavour change I got with briar didn't happen, whether it was the coffee or the cob Im not sure at this stage but I enjoyed the smoke throughout the whole bowl. Will leave it as a 3 star because I still think the cherry flavour is a tad bit syrupy.

I did not care for this blend, The tobacco had stems in the mix. The casing started out weak and got weaker as the bowl burned. That might not be a bad thing, but the lack of character of the tobacco demands a strong casing. I smoked three bowls and tossed the rest out. There are better value tobaccos available.

I am not a tobacco snob. I smoke a lot of Virginia Gold Vanilla. The Cherry Cavendish does not impress me, however. I was willing to give it a chance, because it's available in a 1.25 ounce pouch, not just the nine ounce bag like some Virginia Gold blends. I live in a heavily taxed state, and this costs half at Pipes and Cigars, compared to what Rite Aid charges. Some reviewers mention chocolate covered cherries. I only get a slight cherry flavor when smoking. And somewhat more cherry on the tongue after a bowl. Bystander approved. For the price, give it a try.

This one isn't quite as good as the other VG blends I've tried. It starts off nicely with the Virginias the dominate natural flavor. The cherry/chocolate gives an initial burst of flavor then settles into mild, maybe even a very mild presence. The Black Cav is light but evident. The Burley hardly noticed. I think the problem is the quality of the Virginias. At roughly halfway, if pushed even slightly, they develop a "dirty" flavor. Kinda funky. If you want to enjoy the second half of the bowl you really have to watch yourself. Even with the good price I can only go 2 stars here.

Mild to medium in body and flavor. Needed a little drying time.

Bought this from Rite-Aid for about sixteen dollars and am very pleased with this product. It has a very nice room note and the flavor is very good also. It does not bite and is relatively mild. I personally like to blend this with the Virginia Gold Black Cavendish at a 3 parts cherry to 1 part black ration. The cherry-black mix is very good. I highly recommend this product alone as well as blended with other VG products such as the one I mentioned.
