Dunhill Ready Rubbed (re-release)
(2.94)
Dunhill Ready Rubbed pipe tobacco is a mixture of mature, flue-cured leaves from the USA, Brazil and Africa are blended with sun-cured and smoky fired tobaccos from Indonesia and India. These are then pressed into cavendish and topped with a subtle flavour.
Notes: In addition to BB1938 and Three Year Mature, Dunhill Ready Rubbed is the third vintage Dunhill blend re-introduced to the U.S. market in 2015. Based on Virginia and Oriental, it's run through a light cavendish process, cased with a subtle fruity topping, and steam pressed before it's broken up into the beautiful ready rubbed cut.

Look Ma , no taste . I mean none at all , just smoke . Excellent as land fill or ballast but of no use at all in the pipe . You might use it to add to moist mixtures that you want to dry out . Other than that , why ever was this tobacco ever made?

I have tended to steer well clear of Dunhill blends, on the basis that so many of them contain latakia, which I've never cared for.
This one has no latakia in it so I bought a tin, against the advice of my son, who, for some reason didn't care for it.
I think I see why. I mean it's not bad, but then it's not great, either. It's just er ....boring. There are so many blends like this one. Dan Pipe have at least a dozen (which are cheaper than this).
There's just so many comparisons you can make, as this has few attributes to set it apart from the rest. The tin fragrance is nice enough, but unremarkable and keeps it's moisture well. The smoke is fine, but generic and there is no room note whatsover.
It's slightly better than some of the otc blends, like Gold Block or Erinmore, but has no where near the enticement of Capstans fine flakes.
Why is it classed as an aromatic ?
No idea. Perhaps someone will enlighten me.

Little bit better than Three Year Matured Viginia, but still the same mistakes. Ready Rubbed has too preservative, lukewarm and tedious taste. Next to 3YMV that's another proof, that Dunhill should stick to their specials - latakia mixtures and stop making disillusions of other tobaccos.
