Maybe because I come from cigarettes I love Virginia blends. This mixture is an excellent all day smoke and helps me not to return in cigarettes. Also the price is very low for such an excellent quality tobacco which is around two months now my first preference. Last but not least this tobacco is sweet and has taste. Not grassy at all. Highly recommended for Virginia lovers.

First of all, I need to say that I'm relatively new to the pipe world. Before a couple of years, I've lived for a while in the Czech Republic, where struggled to finally give up cigarettes. It is there where I've fallen in love with Mac Baren Virginia No.1. It was this fantastic, strong, without any additional flavour Virginia tobacco, that changed my taste forever. However, since I smoke around 6 to 7 - sometimes even 8 to 9 - bowls a day, it seriously affected my wallet. Since then I've been trying to find a reasonable substitute and I've finally done it - Dan Tobacco No. 3.

You won't regret it.

This is an extremely mild tobacco, my first impression was that of a vaper as it had a distinct peppery taste, on doing a thorough Inspection of both the tobacco, Dan Tobacco and TR, I can find no mention of Perique.
I finally came to the conclusion that it was down to my cadence. Now I've been smoking Virginia's for over 50 years so I was convinced I knew how to smoke slowly, this particular offering has to be smoked on the very edge of combustion this negating any chance of taste and flavour. I gave some to a friend, a cigarette smoker, he complained of "gum bite" he has no teeth.
Now I must admit, I'm a lover of the more robust Virginia's and this is not one, certainly not in my humble opinion, for me, it may have some saving graces in very hot weather, in particular when more complex tobacco's are out of the question. At such times this could be a perfect all day smoke. I'll be adding some pure Kentucky to this, just to give it some body as it seems to lack almost everything in the taste and flavour departments.
This would be a useful tobacco to calm down a blend, but on it's own I'll save this for hot weather or when I can't make up my mind as to what to smoke next.
Conclusion :- I'll keep some of this on hand for the summer months, it could prove to be a little gem, if not, I'll still finish the 250g baggie that I bought and I won't feel badly done too as the price of €19-50 was quite reasonable. Given time, almost any tobacco will come to life. As for recommending this, just think twice if like me, you have a high tolerance and love of the stronger blends.
I sincerely hope that by the Autum, I can come back with an updated and more positive review.
