This is an extremely mild tobacco, my first impression was that of a vaper as it had a distinct peppery taste, on doing a thorough Inspection of both the tobacco, Dan Tobacco and TR, I can find no mention of Perique.
I finally came to the conclusion that it was down to my cadence. Now I've been smoking Virginia's for over 50 years so I was convinced I knew how to smoke slowly, this particular offering has to be smoked on the very edge of combustion this negating any chance of taste and flavour. I gave some to a friend, a cigarette smoker, he complained of "gum bite" he has no teeth.
Now I must admit, I'm a lover of the more robust Virginia's and this is not one, certainly not in my humble opinion, for me, it may have some saving graces in very hot weather, in particular when more complex tobacco's are out of the question. At such times this could be a perfect all day smoke. I'll be adding some pure Kentucky to this, just to give it some body as it seems to lack almost everything in the taste and flavour departments.
This would be a useful tobacco to calm down a blend, but on it's own I'll save this for hot weather or when I can't make up my mind as to what to smoke next.
Conclusion :- I'll keep some of this on hand for the summer months, it could prove to be a little gem, if not, I'll still finish the 250g baggie that I bought and I won't feel badly done too as the price of €19-50 was quite reasonable. Given time, almost any tobacco will come to life. As for recommending this, just think twice if like me, you have a high tolerance and love of the stronger blends.
I sincerely hope that by the Autum, I can come back with an updated and more positive review.
