Overall, a good match for Carter Hall, although I thought it a bit fuller in terms of being woodsy, but I also found it a bit more bitey as well, so I wouldn't rebuy it. However, if you smoke Carter Hall you should give this a try.

Bag note reminds me of a dry crunchy chocolate cookie. Cocoa, anise, grain. It’s nice. Long ribbons of ideal moisture. It’s been a few years since I’ve had Carter Hall. I seemed to like it back then. Let’s see how P&C’s “match” does.

Lighting this up is effortless. 1, 2, 3 and she’s lit. Reminds me of CH in that sense. Chatham Manor is a very mild burley blend. Light cocoa chocolate, wood, grain, oats, it’s all very mild and unobtrusive. I do detect an alcohol topping that is also very welcome and pleasant. No bite or harshness for me and burleys tend to do me wrong. There’s some flavor or anise, but it’s so mild I don’t always know it’s there. At the time I seemed to detect more molasses sweetness and nutty flavors in CH, I’m not getting much sweetness from CM here but I’m sure my tastes have changed. More of a burley grain, oat, nutty cocoa with slight anise and alcohol. Flavors stayed consistent throughout the bowl leaving little moisture. As far as old American style burley blends go this is up there with the best. P&C seems to do a good job with these and I could see how people like the Mid Town series over their original inspirations. This is quality stuff.

The nicotine hit on this is mild, breakfast with coffee bad no issues from a group 5.

Full disclosure I’ve never had Carter Hall, it’s hard to find around these parts, but this is my take on Chatham Manor. It’s a fairly typical OTC blend, nothing that’s gonna knock your socks off or be ultra complex. What it is, is a well put together, tasty, honest, everyday smoke. It’s a call back to a time when burley was king of American pipe tobaccos. The topping is more evident in this one than other similar blends and I really enjoy that sweetness. It has a certain “pipeyness” that’s just plain loveable. It’s a comfy old grandpa blend you can smoke all day. Not bad at all. I like to think of blends like this like domestic beers. Its not to impress your friends with your fine tastes, Its not for special occasions, and it’s not the rarest thing in your cellar. It’s for fishing trips, it’s for that summer bbq or have it on that lazy Saturday afternoon when whiskey or wine just won’t do.

I'm a full-time smoker, and my work is mostly done at my desk and computer. There is always a light in my hand, but not every time for nicotine, just a habit, because of this, I must learn to protect my tongue, so that the smoke can drift aimlessly.

The relationship between tobacco and pipe is like the relationship between musical instrument and microphone (highlight and hide). I have about eight pipes rotating every day, But I had no desire to be a blender。

(Corncob. Clay.Meerschaum. Cherry wood poker), the briar has 4 (curved Magnetic stem.Brandy.Dublin. Read the pipe). The most frequently used are corn (no cleanup) and Clay (Not afraid of water).

I saw the comments about CM and bought a jar out of curiosity to compare it with CH. With all due respect, CM is nothing like CH,deep taste (There were very, very few latakia,People who don't have a good sense of smell can't spot it),It has a lot of smoke, almost no power, and hardly needs to be lit up again.

CH of smoke is very light, power is larger than the CM, no latakia, CH smoke is light, more power than CM, no Latakia, I took out (Albert. Sir Walter Raleigh. Granger. Edgeworth) for comparison,People who dislike latakia will like these, They're both Burley blends, just different toppings, The middle part to the end has the same effect. If you don't like it, try another burley blend(Peterson - Irish Flake Mac Baren - Navy Flake Cornell & Diehl - Old Joe Krantz). I'm not going to get confused here。

If I was looking for a different stage, or for nicotine, I'd go for VaPer or Straight Virginia and Cigar Leaf.

Slightly sweet tobacco notes in the pouch aroma. Faint hint of vanilla, Entenmann's Danish to be more specific. Long crinkled strips of tobacco, with some fairly large singular pieces that need to be cut up. No twigs or stems noted in the 2oz pouch.

Packing is done with ease, with a bit of spring. This does have a slight resemblance to Carter Hall, with just a touch more sweetness. The Virginia is sweet, bright and bready. Balances well with the nuttiness of the burley. Can get a little spicy if puffed too vigorously. Keep a slow and even pace, you'll be rewarded with a great old timey blend.
